Chapter 15

Trinity University of Magic was enormous, there was no doubt about that.

The main University building seemed to be built long ago. It was located somewhere in the mountains of France, overlooking the sea because it was so high up. The architecture seemed like it could have been from the Renaissance or perhaps even from the medieval ages. It had a very gothic style to it with its flying buttresses, tall spires, and vertical arches. There were tall stained glass and transperant windows everywhere. It was really quite beautiful and I was a little taken aback by it.

I passed the main building, which primarily held classrooms and made my way around to the back, where the dorm buildings were located. There were three different buildings, each named after a founder of the original Trinity University of Magic: Romano, Rossi, and Rizzo. They were a trio of friends that had come together long ago with a common wish: to build a place in which students could learn and acquire knowledge of magic in a safe and protected environment. Rossi was a water master. He had been one of my earliest ancestors.

"Caley!" I heard a voice call out as I walked towards Rossi House. I turned to see Lance walking up to me, dragging his bags along with him.

"Lance!" I exclaimed, feeling a smile creep up onto my lips. I had to admit, when I saw him, I realized how much I missed him and his slight dorkiness. When he got to me, he dropped his bags and embraced me in a tight bear hug. I laughed and smacked his back with my hand, trying to pry him off. He pulled away, grinning goofily.

"How are you? How was summer?" he asked.

"I'm well. I'm excited to finally be at University. And summer was...pretty boring actually," I said.

"That's not what I heard," he said, winking at me. I rolled my eyes at him and shoved him to the side as he laughed at my burning cheeks.

"You're such an incredible loser," I told him.

"Yeah, but that's what makes me fun to be around," he replied.

"How was your vacation?" I asked him. He shrugged.

"It was all right. Best part was going to California," he said, wiggling his eyebrows at me.

"Did you have fun at Abbey's house?" I asked, smirking at him.

"Oh, I had a lot of fun," he said, giving me another wink. I felt my jaw drop.

"You guys didn't..." I said in disbelief.

"We did," he replied, nodding. My eyes widened.

"I can't believe she didn't tell me!" I exclaimed.

"I think she wanted to tell you in person," he said.

"That's a big step," I told him. He shrugged.

"I think we were both ready," he said. I nodded. And then I punched him in the arm. "OW!! What the hell, Caley?!" he shouted.

"I can't believe YOU didn't tell me!" I said. He glared at me, rubbing his arm.

"Well, it's not really something I'd like to discuss with you, you crazy moron," he snapped. I glared back at him and then pinched his nose. He slapped my hand away. "When did you get so violent?" he hissed.

My mind immediately went to the intense training sessions I had had over the course of the summer. Of course I was more powerful now. Gerrard had been my personal trainer. I was so in shape, I was pretty sure I could live to be over a hundred.

"Honestly, I'm surprised you and Trey haven't done it yet," he said. I felt my cheeks blaze with color and I shifted uncomfortably on my feet.

"Shut up," I mumbled.

"I mean, you two have been together longer than Abbey and me," he continued.

"If you don't shut up right now, I'm going to punch you in the arm again," I threatened. He took a slight step back, putting his hands up.

"All right, all right. Chill out," he said. I shook my head at him.

"Are you living in Rossi?" I asked him, pointing to the Gothic revival building behind us.

"No. I'm in Rizzo with Trey," he replied. I nodded.

"Well, I'm going to go put my stuff in my room. I'll see you at dinner," I told him.

"I'll tell your boyfriend you say hello," he said. I rolled my eyes at him and he snickered, picking his bags up and walking away towards the second building that was next to Rossi. I picked my own bags up and entered my dorm building. If I thought the building looked huge from outside, then it was nothing in comparison to what the inside looked like.

Inside, the building was enormous. The ceiling was vaulted and so high up that I had to tilt my head back all the way to see the top of it. When I looked up, I was completely taken aback at the incredible beauty of what I was seeing.

The ceiling was divided into four different sections by intricately carved pieces of dark wood, all coming together at the point, which was the highest part of the ceiling that also held a very large crystal chandelier. In each of the four sections, there was a very detailed painting of some moment in history. The same face of a handsome hero with bright blue eyes, shoulder-length black hair and a close-shaven beard appeared in the four sections. I assumed that this was Rossi, my ancestor. I tugged at my blonde hair, wondering how I had come from a line of people that had once lived in Italy.

Forcing myself to look in front of me again, I tore my gaze away from the spectacular ceiling. The walls were all wall-papered with an elegant navy blue and gold wallpaper. The floors were made of a solid, smooth marble. In the center, directly below the large chandelier, was a mosaic made entirely out of different hues of blue glass. The colors created swirls which togehter looked almost like waves in an ocean. It was beautiful.

Around me, students milled around. Some had bags like me and others were walking around, greeting old friends. It was easy to discern who the freshman were: we were the ones that looked completely lost and helpless, hovering by the papered walls with shifty and uncertain eyes. I pulled out my first day packet and looked for the room number that I would be staying in. Room 304. That meant it was on the third level.

There were two staircases in this building, both of them wide and spiraling upwards. I craned my neck to look up. Each floor could be seen from the main level. There were black wrought iron railings that ran along the outer edges of each floor. I made my way to the closer one of the two staircases. I realized then that it would be extremely difficult to haul my bags all the way up the stairs. I stood contemplating my dilemma, when I heard a voice speak up behind me.

"Having trouble?" I heard a male's voice say. I turned to see the source of the sound and was surprised when I came face to face with a fairly attractive male that was clearly an upperclassman.

"Are there elevators in this place?" I asked. He chuckled, stepping closer to me.

The student had blonde disshevled hair and shining dark brown eyes. He seemed a bit arrogant, especially in the way he held himself, but I could tell he would be of no harm. Besides, if he tried anything, I was pretty sure I could fend him off with a spell.

"This is a school of only magic. There are no elevators," he told me, standing on the step next to me. I realized that he was a little more than just a little attractive.

"Then how do you suppose I get my bags upstairs?" I questioned. His dark eyes twinkled as he smirked.

"How about this..." he told me, giving me a wink. He turned to the heavy bags that were on the ground and looked at them. With a tilt of his head, they began to hover in the air. I stood back and observed.

"You didn't say anything out loud," I said.

"You really are a freshman," he replied.

"Is it that obvious?" I asked. He chuckled again and I smiled. Maybe this guy was harmless. I let down my guard a little.

"What floor are you on?" he questioned.

"Third," I replied.

"Ah, same as me," he said with a smile that revealed slight dimples in his cheeks. Together, we walked up the stairs, my luggage levitating next to us. Once on the third floor, he let the bags down smoothly.

"Thank-you," I told him, latching my hand onto one of the bags.

"No problem," he replied. He held a hand out to me. "I'm Matthew, by the way. You can call me Matt," he said. I took his hand in mine and gave it a firm shake.

"I'm Caley," I told him. He smiled warmly at me.

"Well, welcome to TUM, Caley," he said.

"Thanks," I said. He helped me bring my bags to my room. I fumbled around in my purse for my keys and pulled them out. No sooner had I stuck the key in the door, that it opened, seemingly on its own accord. I looked at Matt with raised eyebrows.

"That wasn't me--" he started, but was cut off by a shriek. Before I knew it, I was being tackled by a body that was attempting to strangle me.

"GET OFF ME!" I yelled, trying to pry the arms off from around my neck. When I finally pulled away, I saw that it was only Abbey. Figures.

"Caley! You're finally here!" she beamed. I glared at her, rubbing my neck.

"You honestly did not have to attack me like that," I said.

"It's so good to see you," she said with a brilliant smile.

"Right," I muttered, rolling my eyes. She did the same.

"Whatever, Lucia. You totally missed me, even though you aren't admitting it," she said.

"You're delusional, Greene," I replied, but I grinned nonetheless. She laughed and hugged me again before letting go again. This is when she noticed Matt, who had been standing behind me watching the exchange with an amused expression.

"Ummm, who is that?" she asked me.

"That is Matt. He was kind enough to help me bring my bags up," I said.

"Your dad didn't--" she started saying, but caught herself after seeing my livid expression at the mention of my father.

"Well, hello, Matt. I'm Abbey. Caley's best friend and roommate," Abbey said cheerfully, introducing herself.

"Nice to meet you," he said, smiling at her.

"She's over-shooting the best friend bit. She's only my roommate," I told Matt. Abbey punched me in the arm and I laughed. "Kidding!" I cried, winking at Matt. We pulled my things inside the spacious dormitory.

"Wow, this is nice," I commented, looking around at the room that was decorated in a sea green color and creme.

"Right? I love this room. It's so big!" Abbey said.

"Much more than the ones at Trinity High," Matt agreed.

"What year are you?" Abbey asked.

"I'm a junior," he replied.

"How is it?" I asked him.

"Absolutely amazing," he answered, tucking his hands in his pockets.

"I'm so excited!" Abbey squealed, grinning widely. I chuckled.

"So how do things work around here?" I asked Matt. "Are they as scheduled and routine as they were in high school?"

"Not at all. It's completely chill. You can literally take whatever classes you want, as long as you take the necessary courses. There are a couple places on campus to eat, so it's not like there are set times for lunch and dinner. It's basically like a real college, only instead of learning math and English, we're learning spells and magic," he explained.

"I am already in love with this place," Abbey commented.

"It's really great. And what's even more awesome is that people from all over the world come to this University. I mean, there are other universities of magic, but this one is by far the biggest and the best," Matt told us.

"Of course it is," I mumbled.

"What do you mean?" Matt asked.

"Her father's the dean," Abbey blurted out. I shot her a glare and she simply shrugged her shoulders. Matt stood nodding.

"I figured that you must be related. Your friend said your last name earlier and there's only one line of Lucias and that's the dean's," Matt said.

I wondered how he knew this, but then I realized that the history classes offered here were probably much more advanced than in high school. Surely we would learn about major family lineages. It was a little disconcerting though that my family line was famous.

"I didn't, however, know that the dean's daughter would be so incredibly beautiful," Matt said. I snickered and placed a hand on his broad, strong shoulder.

"Nice try, but I have a boyfriend," I told him.

"Damn right she does," I heard a new voice say. I looked at the doorway to see none other than Trey. I let out a slight yelp of surprise and covered my mouth with my hand.

"Trey!" I exclaimed. He smirked at me, striding into our room.

"Hey," he said. Electricity welled up around me as he drew nearer. I felt a permanent smile plaster itself onto my face.

"Hi," I said, grinning cheekily. He leaned down and kissed my lips gently before pulling away.

"I'm Trey, Caley's boyfriend," he said, holding his hand out to Matt. Matt looked between us looking slightly defeated.

"I'm Matt," he said.

"Matt helped me bring my bags up," I told Trey. He nodded.

"So nice of him," Trey said, a peculiar look on his face. I looked between the two boys and realized what this was about. Trey was jealous. Matt was proud.

"I'm hungry," I announced, still eyeing the two curiously.

"I recommend eating at Ventana. It has the best sandwiches," Matt told me.

"I think I will," I said, striding forward and towards the door. The two boys looked after me. Abbey stood with an amused expression on her face. I guess she also figured out what was happening here.

"You're not going to unpack?" Trey asked.

"No, I think I'll do it later," I replied. "Abbey, would you like to eat with me?" I asked. She smirked.

"Of course! I was hoping you'd ask," she said, walking forward to stand next to me. We linked arms and I shot the two boys a smile.

"Well, you two have fun. We'll be back," I said. And then we both turned and began walking down the hallway. Less than thirty seconds later, we heard voices.

"Wait!" Trey called out, jogging to catch up with us.

"What?" I asked, continuing to walk.

"You're just going to leave like that?" Trey asked. I shrugged.

"You two clearly had some issues to work out," I said simply. Abbey snickered and Trey glared at her.

"There are no issues--" he started, but just as he said this, Matt came up to us.

"If you don't mind, I think I'll tag along," he said.

"Don't you have any friends your age?" Trey snapped, his cheeks slightly pink. I fought to keep down a chuckle. He was cute when he was jealous.

"Trey, be nice. After all, Matt was the one who carried my bags up for me," I said.

"So? It's not like he built you the Eiffel Tower," Trey snapped.

"How about we all just get along?" Abbey suggested in a loud, dominant voice.

"I agree," I said.

"Whatever," the two boys muttered, each crossing their arms over their chests to try and seem more menacing.

College.

This would be fun.

A/N: Just a chill chapter. I added another character. I realized that Harry Potter had a lot of little side characters and I don't have very many of those. So I made up Matt. Do you guys like him? Don't worry; he's harmless. Trey and Caley's relationship is safe. I just want to have a little fun and cause some drama. =)

So sorry it's taken so long to update. I've been REALLY bogged down with work.
