Chapter Seventeen
*edited (I forgot how toxic I made this relationship lmao) *
Right now, we were all sitting in the pack meeting room discussing the almost war that took place yesterday. Lincoln and I sat side by side, overlooking the large wood table, with at least twenty different people sat around it.
"You are free to speak." He spoke loudly, his voice laced with authority.
"Is the rogue army's leader in the dungeons?" A middle-aged man with salt and pepper hair asked.
"He is contained and under questioning as we speak." Lincoln announced, gripping onto the armrests so tight from his anger towards the rogues, that his knuckles were beginning to turn white.
"Well, I know our Luna is some sort of freak now so isn't that just great." It was that girl that kissed Lincoln the first day that we met. I thought he said she was in the dungeons now.
"Don't disrespect your Luna." Growled James who was sitting next to me.
"Please. She wasn't even introduced to the pack yet, therefore making her not the Luna." She spoke raising her voice, clearly showing disrespect towards James and I.
"Sarah." Snapped an older man who appeared younger than James but not by much.
" What Daddy, I'm simply stating facts." She spoke glancing down at her unusually long sparkly pink nails.
"Do you want me to start stating facts." I spat as I rose from my chair. "I killed all those people to save everyone here, I regret having to kill them, but I'm starting to realize that I wouldn't have had a choice. So, for the sake of everyone's sanity, shut up!" I took a deep breath and looked at all the surprised faces and happy ones on a few of the higher ranked females.
She gave me a nasty look as her cheeks reddened from either anger or embarrassment; I couldn't tell which.
"How dare you insult me!" She snapped with her high pitched, whiny and annoying voice.
"Sarah enough!" Her father snapped, glaring at her.
She crossed her arms and sat down like a toddler put in time out.
"How much control do you have over your..um..abilities?" Asked another female pack warrior.
"Not as much as I would like, but I promise you I'm working on controlling it, I have someone willing to help me train so I can gain control."
"What about now? Could you be a danger to the pack?" Asked a man with white hair and grey eyes that seemed clouded with doubt.
"With all due respect, I will always be a threat to everyone, pack or not. It will take time to learn how to control this, but I will learn control." He nodded but frowned before glancing at the others.
"She can't be trusted she literally just admitted it." Sarah shrieked, rising from her chair and pointing an accusing finger in my direction.
"Sarah! You're dismissed." Lincoln growled.
"No, I'm not. I am a part of a high-ranking family I am entitled to be here." She snapped.
He rose from his seat slamming his fists angrily against the polished wooden table. For a second I could have sworn I saw cracks form from the amount of force.
"Listen here you brat! You deserve nothing! You are entitled to nothing. If you don't want to keep your mouth fucking shut because you are jealous, then you can kiss your families fucking ranking bye."
Everyone around the room stared at Lincoln like he had three heads.
"Does anyone else have anything to say?" He growled not returning to his seat. I wanted to high five him so badly for saying that to Sarah.
That definitely was a way to shut her up.
When no one answered he concluded the meeting grabbing my hand and pulling me alongside him out of the meeting hall.
"You okay?" I asked him as I tried to keep up with his quick pace. He wasn't looking at me and he still had that dark demeanor over his face.
"Linc--"
"Do you understand how difficult this is?" He snapped rubbing his temple with his hand, bags were prominent under his eyes.
"I scheduled that meeting to talk about the new threat of rogues. Not to have a Q and A about your powers. They are blinded by you, and they can't even understand that we have a possibly critical threat against us."
"Lincoln." I spoke softly. He was angry from the meeting, but I couldn't tell if he was angry at me too.
"I have stuff I have to do, go stay in our room."
"No."
"No?" He raised a brow at me.
"No, if you have something to say to me, just say it. I'm done with our relationship being like this. We are happy one second and then hating each other the next, so we are going to talk it out like civilized people." I snapped.
"Fine." He pulled me up the stairs with him and slammed our door open.
"You want to have a civilized little chat, let's have one." He threw a pillow from the bed across the room nearly taking a lamp down with it.
"Get your temper under control! You are going to break something." I yelled putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Well, you get your powers under fucking control, so I don't have to have useless meetings to discuss just you!" He yelled lifting his hands in the air to prove a point.
"Well maybe if you had introduced me to the pack they wouldn't be so interested!" I yelled right back at him.
"I didn't introduce you to keep you safe!" He snapped, "you knew that."
"I can protect myself! I don't need you to be my knight in shining armor for crying out loud! And how could I have possibly known that, if you never told me!"
"You had limits on your powers, I was the one who constantly had to get you help because you are so fucking different!"
"I may be different than everyone else, but I can crush you with my flipping pinky!" I argued right back.
"You wouldn't because you care too much about me!" He snapped.
"And you aren't mad at me because you care about me too!"
We probably looked quite comical right now. We are screaming in each other's faces screaming about how we care for each other. Before I could react, Lincoln's lips were pressed firmly against mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck leaning in.
We pulled away, leaning our foreheads against each other's.
"We are losing it." He chuckled.
"I definitely think we are."
He pressed his lips against mine quickly again, before he had to go do more pack work. He explained to me how he wanted the pack border patrol up to about a hundred trained warriors. He wanted pack warriors training almost all day instead of during one daily shift. Which is usually during the morning or afternoon.
I guess that isn't going to get done on its own.
I sat down on the bed and felt my cheeks heat up from thinking about what just happened between Lincoln and I in my head, before launching those thoughts as far away as I could possibly get them.
Lincoln's POV
I walked out of the pack house and towards the dungeons. I think it's time we pay our little rouge friend a visit. All of the warriors bowed to me as they opened the doors for me to get in. I walked down another flight of metal stairs before punching in a five-digit code. The satisfying click of the door unlocking echoed through the hallway. Brent and Jake were already waiting for me in the cell. Let's just say I let them have some fun before I decided to come down here. I unlocked the cell door and stepped in, locking us in there with him.
His face looked disfigured and bloody. His noise was stained red and bent at an unnatural angle. I raised my fist and gave him a quick and hard punch to the jaw. He growled angrily, yanking at the restraints, which only caused more welts and blood to decorate his wrists.
"Let's start this off with some easy questions that I think your rogue brain can handle." I spoke walking behind him. "What did you want with my mate?" I asked, more like demanded.
"Why would I tell you." He spat, spitting droplets of blood onto the blood-stained cement floor.
"I'm willing to be kind to you for what you've done, but don't answer any questions and I won't have those two hold back." I growled pointing at Brent and Jake who had smirks on their faces, clearly itching to bloody this rogue further.
"She has p-powers, that can unlock a place I--." He muttered, his limbs shaking slightly.
"What place?" I snapped, but before he could respond his body began thrashing violently. White foam was pouring out of his mouth and down his chin, before he went limp. Dead.
Jake walked up and felt inside of his mouth for a capsule.
"The son of a bitch poisoned himself." Jake growled.
Brent glanced down at it quickly, flipping it over in between his fingers.
"But where is the bite mark?" Jake have him a confused look before stepping closer to examine it as well.
"Usually on the capsules there are dents when they bite into it, that way the poison can be released. There is no dent. Just that tiny hole right there, look." He said pointing to the small whole on the end.
"You're saying someone triggered that to release the poison. It wasn't him." I spoke looking at them confused.
"This rogue, isn't the leader then, someone else is orchestrating all of this." Jake spoke, I could see the wheels turning as his mind raced with ideas.
