Chapter Nineteen
*edited*
"Could that vision be true?" I asked Rosa feeling uneasy.
"Most likely, what did they ask for again?" She asked.
"Some sort of book, I think." I frowned.
"It isn't the only thing she has had visions of."
I snapped my head to the side to see Lincoln walking towards us. I quickly stood up and walked into his outstretched arms.
"You're lying now?" She snapped at me. Rosa has been in a nasty mood since she found out about my nightmare last night.
"She saw wolves in one of our cellars the first day she came to the pack house." Lincoln said, sticking his hands into his pockets.
"They looked like half shifters if that's a thing?" I frowned. "They were being held prisoner and starved."
Rosa gave me a curious look.
"This is worse than I thought." She frowned. "There are so many unknowns about you now."
I was disappointed in myself. Why couldn't I make anyones lives easy for once.
"Stop it, Brielle." Lincoln snapped at me seeing the look that crossed my face.
"I'm sorry I cause so much trouble for you guys." I frowned looking at my freshly picked at fingers.
"Can we stop her from seeing these?" Lincoln asked Rosa.
"They are warmings from the moon goddess, we can't just stop them." She snapped at Lincoln giving him a pointed look.
"Watch it, Rosa." He growled at him his wolf surfacing as his eyes began to flicker.
"What are you going to do about it?" She snapped, clearly not backing down. Lincoln's wolf surfaced, his eyes changing into a golden-yellow shade fully. I quickly rushed in between them, desperately trying to get them to not kill each other.
"Enough, guys." I gave them both a little push to get the message across.
"You are an arrogant asshole." Rosa spat. Lincoln pushed me out of the way, charging at her. That's when my werewolf hearing picked up Rosa chanting. I had a feeling she wasn't about to hit him with a friendly spell. I ran to where Lincoln was growling and baring his teeth at Rosa. I shoved myself in front of him, squeezing my eyes shut as I braced for impact. "Brielle! No!" Screamed Rosa when all of a sudden a feeling went over my body as the power of her spell danced on my fingertips. It felt like electricity was humming in my blood and dancing around my bones. I loosed a breath before pointing my fingers in a different direction sending her spell into a tree.
Did I just redirect a spell? What the guacamole?
"You okay?" Asked Lincoln scanning me over for injuries. I nodded still confused as to how I just did that.
"You old fucking hag." Growled Lincoln his eyes still flickering but he wasn't leaving my side. "You could have killed her."
"I think it was obvious that she wasn't who I wanted to seriously injure, I think kill is being dramatic." She glared at him.
"Guys! Enough!" I snapped. They didn't get along everyone knew that but we didn't need the constant arguing and threats everyday.
"How did you know how to reflect spells? I haven't taught you that."
"It kind of felt more of an instinct, I don't really know how to explain it, my body kind of took over." I spoke, confusing myself more than I already was.
"That's concerning, that's you not taking control Brielle."
"She was trying to save my life." Snapped Lincoln growling at her all over again. I quickly placed my hand on his arm trying to get him to stop behaving like this.
"We have a pack dinner tonight so you guys are going to need to wrap up soon." He spoke not looking at Rosa.
"We we're finishing up anyway, go Brielle I'll look into some other things we can work on tomorrow." She told me motioning for me to go with my mate.
He gripped onto my hand and we began walking out of the clearing in the woods.
"What is your problem with Rosa?" I questioned.
"I don't have a problem with Rosa." He sighed.
"You could have fooled me." I said avoiding rocks and roots as we made our way to the path. "You can tell me Lincoln, we shouldn't have to keep secrets from each other."
"I think James might have feelings for her." He sighed.
"That's good news, you should be happy." I frowned, seeing the sad look on his face.
"She isn't my mom." He said looking at me.
"Of course she isn't your mom. But don't you think James deserves to be happy again?" I asked squeezing his hand.
"He is happy Brielle. He doesn't need that awful woman in his life." He frowned.
"Listen to yourself, you have to admit that James hasn't been happy he's been getting into fights with both of us, plus we hardly get to see his wonderful smile anymore and on top of all of that, he's living alone now." I frowned. "When I was there I at least kept him company."
I could tell he didn't want to talk about this anymore so I decided to drop it for now. I didn't think it was fair that he was treating Rosa that way because James may have feelings for her.
"So, tell me more about this dinner." I smiled up at him.
"I always forget that we had to keep you a secret from everyone. We have pack dinners at least once every few months, the omegas cook but they do end up joining us." He smiled down at me giving my hand a little tug to change our direction.
"I had one of the omegas get a dress for you, since this is a more formal event."
Once we got back to the house he led me up to our room and I was shocked when I saw the dress lying on the bed. It was navy at the top and white at the bottom with beautiful gold patterns.
"You like it?" Lincoln asked, pulling me against his chest.
"I love it. Thank you." I stood on my tippy toes and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I'll send someone up to help you get ready, see you in a little bit." He have me a quick kiss on the lips before turning and walking out of the room. This dress was something else I really loved it. (Dress up top)
