Chapter Four
*edited*
Lincoln's POV
I glared at my dad as he groaned into his hands. "Lets go find her so I can apologize." He spoke quietly, regret evident all over his face.
"Why did you have to say that." I snapped at him while we were following her scent. She must have gone back to the cottage. I pushed past dad and hurried ahead of him.
"Wait is that..." before I could finish my train of thought, we both saw roughly thirty trees go flying across the surrounding forest. Branches and leaves scattered across the clearing near the house. Dirt rose up from the impact clouding the area in the process.
"Holy..." That's when I saw the small body laying limp in the tall grass. We sprinted without a word towards her, as fast as we could. My heart felt like it was lodged in my throat at the sight in front of us.
"Oh gods." Dad breathed. I kneeled down and scooped her small frame up into my arms.
"Wake up." I said my voice shakier than I expected. I shook her shoulders slightly. Dammit. What the hell did she do? We should have stopped her from leaving. Fuck.
James knelt next to me and carefully reached for her sleeves. He gently and slowly pulled them up revealing black and purple markings that almost look like veins. They were running up and down the entirety of her arms.
"Take her sweatshirt off." Dad spoke his voice wavering as his eyes darted back and forth between both of her arms.
I carefully pulled it off over her shoulders, trying not to hurt her or accidentally touch one of those vein-like markings in the process.
"I've never seen this before." He muttered in disbelief. "I-I don't know how to help her or if I-I even can." Her small frame was shaking and tense as the veins seemed to pulse across her skin.
"This is her demon side, I think she might be fighting it off." Dad said as he raised a shaky hand up to cover his mouth, his eyes still wide with shock.
Her breathing was rugged and uneven. She had sweat beading across her forehead. Her eyes burst open but instead of her beautiful, ocean blue eyes, I was met with completely pitch black eyes. Her hands clawed into the dirt surrounding us and she started crying out.
"Y-You need to leave, d-dont want...hurts you." She tried to speak, but it didn't sound like her voice. She was fighting desperately for control.
"P-Please." She pleaded as tears ran down her cheeks.
"I'm not leaving you kid." Dad spoke, pushing her hair away from her face.
"We're not going anywhere." She has tears running down her cheeks as she continued screaming and tearing at the dirt.
She closed her eyes and let out a blood curdling scream. Her beautiful blonde hair stained with dirt. "Breathe kiddo. Just breathe." Dad kept telling her.
"I c-can't!" She cried out before screaming again."It hurts so much." She cried.
"Dad?" I questioned hoping that he had a solution to help stop my mate's suffering. But he looked at her with pained eyes.
Her small body suddenly began drifting up into the air. She was screaming uncontrollably. I could feel my control slipping.
There was a blinding light before she harshly crashed back to the ground. Her veins weren't black, purple and protruding out of her skin anymore.
"What the hell?" I asked and walked over to her. I scooped her up into my arms. Her breaths were shallow but they were there.
"Get her inside." Dad snapped.
I rushed into the small cottage and placed her onto her bed. Her hair was scattered and her face was stained with tears. I ran a hand along her cheek as I sat down next to her. Her breathing was shallow but she is alive. She was going to be fine. My chest felt like it was going to explode with how fast my heart was beating.

We waited about three hours for her to wake up. Or should I say stir in her sleep. She started groaning before her eyes cracked open slightly.
"Hey." I whispered to her softly. She went to sit up but immediately winced and sunk back into the pillow.
"What happened?" She whispered shutting her eyes for a few seconds.
"What do you remember?" I asked her.
"Falling I think." She said trying to remember the events from earlier.
"We saw you on the ground and you had these black vein looking things coming out of your arms, you were screaming saying you didn't want to hurt us, it was scary to see you like that." I breathed. "I thought we lost you."
"Can you help me up?" She asked me quietly.
"Absolutely not. You need to rest and lay down." I told her pushing her back down into her pillow.
"I will get up with or without your help." She said, glaring up at me.
She wasn't kidding within minutes she was up and stretching out her sore limbs.
"Hey kiddo, take this." Dad said handing her a small white pill.
"What is that?" I asked walking up to them but she had already swallowed it.
"It's her daily vitamin." He told me but I could tell he was lying.
"Why don't you go shower and if you need any help just call for one of us." I told her.
She nodded and walked out of the room.
"What the hell did you just give her?" I growled. "And don't lie, I know that wasn't a fucking vitamin."
"It helps suppress the demon side of her. She hadn't taken it due to everything that's been going on." He said rubbing his temple.
"A witch? You've been working with a witch to get these pills haven't you! How do you know these are even safe for her." I was beyond furious now. He didn't have the right to do this to her. She probably didn't even know what the pill did. She probably just assumed it was a normal vitamin for whatever shit it's meant for.
"I will not allow that monster in her to take over her. She is so sweet and innocent, if she ever killed or hurt someone it would destroy her." He said.
"I may seem like the bad guy to you but I'm just protecting her and I thought you would understand that especially with you being her mate now." He snapped.
"I can say the same for you! You are like her best friend, but you are giving her drugs without her knowing what she is actually taking!" I roared.
"Quiet! She can probably hear us." He snapped.
"I am your alpha!" I roared I knew my wolf was taking over.
"And I am your father!" He yelled right back. We were both about to shift and attack each other when a small person with wet hair came running out and stopped in between us.
"What is going on?" She asked quietly. "I leave for ten minutes and you are both about to tear the house down."
"Lets see your arms." I said getting out of the trance I was in.
"They are fine." She mumbled.
"Like hell they are." I snapped grabbing her hand and turning them over. The veins were protruding less but the burns were still extremely evident and looked really painful.
"How is she going to be Luna?" Asked my father.
"We'll figure it out. She can't live in isolation forever." I spoke.
"Yes she does. Don't you understand that. She has to, people can't know who she is." He yelled. I've never seen him this angry before.
"I can come back and visit all the time. That way we can always play checkers together." Said my smiling mate. "I can't let you think you'll ever beat me." She giggled.
This lightened the mood drastically. My father was no longer as furious.
"I'll send someone to gather her things since she will be living with me now." I said.
"Alright But promise you'll visit Brielle?" He asked. She lifted up her pinky which he immediately interlocked with his own.
"Lets go." I said guiding her towards the door.
"Take these." He whispered to me handing me the jar filled with pills. "She needs these more than you know."
"We need to finish talking about this come to my office tomorrow morning." I told him stuffing the small jar into my pocket.
"Shoes?" I asked her.
"Oops silly me." She giggled. I swear I could hear her laugh all day. She grabbed her small flats and slipped them on before I grabbed her hand.
"What were you and James talking about?" She asked me.
"Nothing really, just another disagreement." I lied.
"Why did you never call him or keep him updated about the pack stuff like he asked you to?" She asked catching me off guard again.
"It doesn't matter." I snapped not wanting to talk about this right now.
"He was pretty upset. So it does matter Lincoln." She frowned.
"I was just busy." I shrugged.
"What could take up so much time that you can't even spare five minutes to call your dad?" She pressed.
"Why do you ask so many fucking questions? I was busy running this pack." I snapped at her instantly regretting it when I saw the hurt flash across her face.
"Sorry." I groaned. " I didn't mean that."
I looked at her hand that was no longer interlocked with mine and saw that she was vigorously picking at her nails, a habit she still has from when we were kids.
We walked back to the pack house in silence.
