Won't You Go To Someone Else's Dreams?

    •Tyler•

I wake up around two o'clock from a dry mouth and walk into the kitchen for a drink of water. Chugging half a glass, I walk back into the living room and crawl under my still-warm blanket. That's when I hear the crying.
I sit up and hold my breath, straining to hear the faint sobs coming from the basement below. Swinging my legs over the side of the couch, I stand up and walk over to the stairwell entrance, taking the stairs one careful step at a time. The last step creaks as I walk into my room, and I see Jenna's silhouette outlined faintly from the dim light of her phone screen whip around. Her cries take a more pitiful turn at she flashes the screen in my direction.
"Take what you want, but please, don't hurt me! Or Tyler! You can't hurt Tyler!" Another wave of tears engulfs her. A faint wail escapes her lips as I continue to approach her.
"Jenna, it's just me," I whisper in a soothing voice.
Her hands shield her face. "Don't hurt me!" she repeats.
"I'm not going to hurt you. This is me. Tyler. This is Tyler." I gesture to my chest, even though it's too dark for her to see it.
"No, it's not. You're not Tyler. Tyler wouldn't do this. Tyler is nice." She curls into a ball and scoots to the farthest corner of my bed, trying to avoid whatever it is she's facing. I walk in the direction of my desk at the foot of my bed and fumble for the lamp. I finally find the chain and tug it. I squint at the sudden, yellow light.
When my eyes finally adjust, I see that Jenna is rocking back and forth on my bed, her hands pressed against her ears. That's when I see her half-opened eyes are glazed over and unfocused.
"You're still asleep," I murmur, half to myself. I crawl onto the bed in front of her, gently taking her hands off of her ears and squeezing them. "Jenna. Wake up. You're asleep. This isn't real." She gives me a blank look. I sigh. It kills me to see her like this, but I don't think there's much I can do but wait it out.
I gently lay her down and pull a blanket over her. She still murmurs and cries, but each are less frequent. Something that stands out to me, though, is a sentence that she keeps repeating.
"Just let me see your face. I'll do anything if I know who you are. Just let me see your face. Just let me...let me....please...." I jump as she suddenly gasps and sits up, panting as if she just swam to the surface of a pool after touching the bottom of the deep end.
"Tyler?" she cries.
"I'm right here," I reply softly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I-I had a bad dream. Wait...what are you doing down here? Shouldn't you be asleep?"
"I came down here because I heard you crying. You were having a night terror."
She puts her head in her hands and sighs. "Oh my gosh, it was awful."
I scoot to sit beside her and rub her back. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Jenna shrugs, playing with a loose string on my hoodie that she slept in, then takes a shaky breath. "I guess so. It might help. I just had a dream that the guy came back. He...wanted something from me. I don't know what. I was really freaking out because he wouldn't tell me who he was. I couldn't see past the hood on his head. I told him I'd do anything as long as he wouldn't hurt you or me, but he didn't respond. He just kept getting closer and closer to the bed. I just wish I knew who he was. Did I wake you up?"
I shake my head. "I woke up thirsty, so I went to get a drink of water, and that's when I heard you crying."
   "I'm sorry."
I squeeze her shoulder. "Don't say that. I'm glad that I found you down here that way I'm able to help you."
"What time is it?" Jenna asks.
I glance at my alarm clock. "About 2:20."
She nods. "I'm gonna try to go back to sleep."
"Okay," I reply. "I'm going to sleep on the floor here in case you wake up again."
  "You don't have to."
"I'll be okay. Just don't step on me in the morning," I joke.
Jenna smiles. "I'll try not to." I get up to get the spare pillow and blanket out of the closet that Josh uses when he comes over and build a makeshift bed on the floor. Jenna crawls back under the covers of my bed as I turn off my lamp.
"If it makes you feel any better, flip your pillow over. The bad dreams aren't on that side. That's what I do." (A/N: I actually do this after nightmares for some reason. It makes me feel better.) I kiss her on the forehead, then crawl under the blanket on the floor.
I hear Jenna lean over the side of my bed. "Hey Tyler," she whispers.
   "What," I whisper back.
"Could you sing 'Oh Ms Believer' for me? It helps calm me down."
I smile. "Sure." I sing the whole song for her and hear soft, cute snores by the end of the first chorus. My pretty sleeper is out for the night.

A/N: Heyyy guys! How's everyone doing? I just feel like sharing something that happened this week. One morning, I chose to wear my Blurryface album cover shirt to school. When I got there, I saw another girl that I knew wearing the same shirt! She had dyed hair, and I had my ukulele, so I yelled,"Josh!" And she yelled,"Tyler!" We got a picture together later.

Also, I was playing a fren's ukulele, and I noticed this in the inside and thought it was so cool! I really want to do something similar to this now.

My phone has a crappy camera. :|

   Well, until next chapter!
