We're Up All Night 'Til The Sun

Tyler and I decided to call my parents the following day and notify them about the trespasser. They gave me permission to stay with Tyler's family until they came back from northern Ohio. I spent some of Christmas with the Josephs and the rest with my family. I got Tyler a ski mask for Christmas, telling him it would shield his face against the bitter cold better than his beanie hat.

"You're just scared that someone will mess up my beautiful face," he joked when he opened it. He had gotten me a blue scarf with a matching pair of gloves. They went well with my black coat. Josh, Tyler, and I had all jumped back and forth between each others houses that day, then ended with a snowball fight between all three of our families in the woods before the sun went down and the temperature dropped.

Now, it is New Year's Eve, where Tyler, Zack, I are heading to Josh's house in Tyler's red car for a party. As far as I know, only Josh's family will be there. Tyler, Zack, and I are going solo.

"So your parents want you home by one?" Tyler asks. I nod as he steers his way into Josh's driveway and parks. The clock on Tyler's radio reads six.

"Aw, but then we can't go set off fireworks and wreck mailboxes and toilet-paper houses. You guys are no fun," Zack pouts from the back seat. Tyler and I share a look, then roll our eyes as we unbuckle our seatbelts and climb out of the car.

"Don't forget the cheese dip," Tyler tells Zack, who reaches inside the car and stands back up with the white Crock Pot under one arm.

"Right," he replies, following us up the sidewalk of the Dun house. Tyler rings the doorbell, where Ashley comes to the door.

"Josh! Your husband is here!" she calls playfully. The three of us laugh as she ushers us inside and takes the cheese dip from Zack to the kitchen. Josh slides around the corner from the kitchen in his socks, nearly slipping before he catches himself on a nearby chair. I laugh.

"You guys ready to party!?" he exclaims.

"Of course!" Tyler and Zack yell. Ashley-who is back from the kitchen-and I roll our eyes.

"So what's the agenda?" Tyler asks.
"Dinner first," Josh says. He rubs his hands together. "Then...I was thinking of....karaoke."

"Yasssss!" Zack yells. The rest of us sigh in fake annoyance.

"We could probably watch a movie after that. Play some games," Josh finishes.

We turn when Mrs. Dun walks into the living room. "Dinner is almost ready," she says.

All of us nod and head over to the dining table, where Mrs. Dun is placing out steaming baked potatoes. Josh rises and helps her get the toppings as Tyler and I sit next to each other. Mrs. Dun calls for Jordan and Abigail, who bound down the stairs a minute later, Mr. Dun trailing behind them. The nine of us gather around the table and start dishing up our plates.

"So does anyone have any New Year's Resolutions?" Josh's mom asks.

It is silent for a moment, until Josh clears his throat. "Well, I know that Tyler and I want to get our band out there. We want to be recognized."

Tyler nods beside me. "I mean, also, staying alive one more year would be good."

There's a slightly awkward silence. (A/N: PHASMA PLEASE DON'T lol) I decide to speak up. "Well, I think it would be nice for me to get into college."

"What do you think about doing, Jenna?" Mrs. Dun asks.

I shrug. "I don't really know. I might go into a photography-related career."

"Ayyyyy you could be our band photographer," Josh chimes in.

I laugh. "Maybe, Josh."

Josh, Zack, Tyler, Ashley, and I go upstairs after dinner to do karaoke. My stomach squirms. I'm not much of a singer, and singing in front of other people makes me nervous. I hope Tyler and the others will understand.

Josh boots up the computer as Tyler hooks it and the microphone to a speaker. Tyler turns to the rest of us. "Who wants to go first?"

I shuffle toward the back of the group, sighing in relief when Zack raises his hand. I remind myself that this is supposed to be fun and relaxing, not stressful. Zack whispers something in Josh's ear, who clicks on a YouTube video. Josh walks over and sits next to me as Tyler's brother starts to sing. I'm completely clueless to what the song is until he reaches the chorus.

"We're going down, down in an earlier round

"And Sugar, we're going down swinging."

I grin when I finally remember the title. It takes pretty much a whole Fall Out Boy song to figure out it's name.

"So, who's going next?" Tyler asks after Zack finishes the song. Ashley raises her hand.

Josh leans over to me. "Not a singer?" I shake my head. "Me neither. Maybe you could do a duet with someone?" I shrug. "I'll do a duet if you do one. You can do one with Tyler, and I can do it with...well, someone." We both chuckle as Tyler turns to the both of us and raises his eyebrows.

"Do one of you want to go?"

I hastily scoot back against the wall. Josh puts a hand on my shoulder.

"I think you and your girlfriend here should do a duet, my friend," Josh says. I start to blush as Zack and Ashley start to clap and cheer.

"I don't know what to sing," I say.

"Tyler can take care of that," Zack says while grabbing my hand and pulling me up. He leads me over to the microphone. Josh gives me a thumbs up as I wait for Ty to pick a song.

He wiggles his eyebrows and takes the microphone in one hand, making me laugh. "It'll be okay. I know you're nervous, but this is for fun," he whispers in my ear. "Wait until you hear the song." He hits the play button and a familiar flute melody streams through the computer speakers.

I give Tyler a look. "You did not."

"I did," he replies, swaying to the music as the others laughter rings in the background. Then, he leans into the microphone and sings.

"Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you, go on

"Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you, go on."

"Cmon, it's not a duet if the other person's not singing along," he whispers. "I'll get Josh up here to make you jealous."

I smirk and roll my eyes. "Fine." Our voices merge together at the chorus.

"Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart and my heart will go on and on."

I jump when I hear Josh join in the background on his trumpet. All of us laugh at the thought of him taking the time to learn this of all songs.

Josh takes the mic from Tyler and holds it in front of us at the end of the song. I start to wonder why until Tyler startles me by holding my arms out and placing his hands on my sides.

"You're here, there's nothing I fear
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart and my heart will go on and on." Our voices fade out, and Tyler gives me a peck on the cheek at the end. Everyone erupts in applause.

Tyler grins. "That wasn't so bad, was it?" I shake my head, and we continue to do karaoke.

Tyler, Josh, Zack, and I all sit on the living room couch in front of the TV watching some broadcasted concert while eating chips and seven layer bean dip around eleven o'clock.

"I can't believe it's gonna be a new year in like, an hour," Josh says over Rihanna's performance.

"Like really. It's gone by quickly," Tyler agrees.

Sometime suddenly dawns on me. "Dude, we've been dating almost six months!"

A look of realization crosses his face. "Dude, we have."

Zack smirks. "When are you proposing?" He earns a smack from Tyler. Josh and I laugh.

I lean my head against Tyler's shoulder, my eyelids heavy. It's been a fun day.

"Jenna, you're gonna miss the countdown!" Tyler exclaims. I jolt awake. I didn't even realize I had fallen asleep.

"W-What time is it?"

"Eleven fifty-five. Don't tell me you were going to sleep off the rest of the year!"

I grin. "I didn't mean to fall asleep." I turn to the TV and watch the last performance before the ball drop.

Tyler slings an arm around me. "It's okay. Everyone needs their beauty sleep. Besides, you're a cute sleeper." I blush and glare and Zack and Josh, who make puppy dog eyes and kissy faces at us. Seeing them, Tyler picks up a handful of chips and throws them at the two boys, who eat them (which doesn't surprise me).

"Guys! The countdown is starting!" Josh screeches.

"Man, you're really in a hurry for this year to be over," I tease as I glance at the one minute countdown flashing on the screen.

Josh nods as we all stand up. "Too many bad vibes." I chuckle as Tyler wraps an arm around my waist. Then, we all start counting down.

"10! 9! 8! 7! 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1!"

"Happy New Year!" we all cheer as the ball drops. Josh whistles as Tyler pulls me in and kisses me. Zack pretends to make out with an invisible girlfriend, making Tyler and I break away, laughing.

The cheering and celebration on TV dies away, and we all grow silent. "So...what do we do now?" Josh asks, awkwardly placing a hand on the back of his neck.

Tyler shrugs. "We could go home. Jenna has to be back by one anyhow."

A distant boom sounds from outside. I suddenly get an idea. "Or we could go outside and watch fireworks! We could go to the cliff!"

Tyler and Josh look at each other. "Want to?" Tyler asks him.

Josh shrugs. "I don't see any harm in it."

"Let's do it!" Zack exclaims, jumping up and grabbing his coat.

Tyler gives me a look that asks if I'm up for it. I nod. "I guess we're taking my car." The rest of us grab our coats and meet Zack at the door. Then, we head out to Tyler's car and to the cliff.

"It's chillier than I thought it would be," I murmur as we hike toward the bluff.

Tyler rubs my back. "It'll be okay."

"Dude how do you know about this place?" Zack asks.

Tyler shrugs, seeming somewhat uncomfortable with talking about his secret hideaway. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. Regardless, he still answers. "I just decided to go off the trail one day."

Zack nods. "Cool."

Tyler cranes his neck to see through the trees ahead of him. "We're almost there," he whispers. The four of us pick up the pace until we break through the treeline.

"Dude!" Zack gasps. "The view is awesome!" Despite it being midnight, Columbus looks awake as ever. Pinpricks of light from vehicles dot the distant roads and highways like Christmas lights. The Christmas lights on the houses themselves add an extra sparkle to the night.

"This is sick," Josh murmurs. I jump as a muffled boom comes from the far side of the city. Green fireworks blossom in the sky. The four of us sit down and marvel at the light. More follow.

"Coming here was a good idea," Tyler tells me, pulling me close to him with one arm.

"Really?" I whisper back. He nods.

We know it's time to go when the fireworks die away and all of us start to let out tired yawns.

"Happy New Year," Josh says mid-yawn. "It's been a good day. You guys are great people."

"Yep, we need to go home. Josh is getting delusional," Tyler jokes. All of us erupt in laughter. We agree that it would be best to leave now before we become too tired to drive.

"See you after break," Tyler says as Josh climbs out of his car. Josh gives us a quick salute, then disappears behind his front door.

Tyler surprisingly pulls into his driveway and kicks Zack out before dropping me off.

"Crap, this must be important if you're dropping him off first," I joke.

Tyler grins. "It is." He pulls out of his driveway and turns down my street.

"So...what are some of your New Year's Resolutions?" I ask awkwardly, trying to break the silence.

Tyler pulls into my driveway and puts the car in park, then looks at me deeply. "To be with you as long as possible this year."

I smile. "That's sweet." We climb out of his car and join hands when we cross paths.

   Tyler leans in and kisses me before we head up the sidewalk. "That really is my resolution," he whispers, making my heart jump. He touches my forehead with his and gazes into my eyes.

   I smile. "You wanna know something?" he continues.

   "What?"

   "You mean everything to me." He silences me with another kiss to stop me from saying anything otherwise. I walk inside in a daze, trying to fathom how I mean this much to someone. As I lay in bed and try to fall asleep, I try to contemplate how I could possibly be Tyler's everything.




A/N: Hello again, frens! This chapter wasn't the greatest, but I hope the next one, which I expect to write and publish soon, will be better.

   So I told Will_Joseph that I would show them my chibi Tyler and Josh that I drew. It was my first time drawing chibi, so they weren't the greatest. I used the video down below to draw Tyler (watch the intro. It's amazing.), and I drew Josh on my own.

Also, I was in class trying to figure out what song Tyler and Jenna should sing together earlier in the chapter. Well, I googled Tyler Joseph cute love songs and about died laughing.
