Time is Slowing and It's Frozen Still

My parents rush forward and hold me in their arms when they open the front door, tears still streaming down my face. In fact, everyone is crying, even Tyler and Josh look like they have something in their eyes. My family stands in the foyer embracing me for minutes until everyone breaks apart so Tyler and Josh can explain what happened.

My parents' eyes widen as they tell the story of how they found me. Dad is already pulling out his phone by the end of it. He dials a number.

"Hello, I'd like to report a kidnapping....yes, we found our daughter, but she was kidnapped for about sixteen hours....Yes, Brendon Urie and...." Dad asks Tyler what Brownie's real name is. "Ryan Ross....one was a minor, the rest are eighteen....okay....thank you. Goodbye."

Dad looks at Tyler. "Could you take us to this guy's house?"

Tyler nods. Dad follows him, Josh, and me out the door and to Tyler's car.

"This is the house," Tyler says, gesturing to the yard dotted with footprints in the snow as we pull up to the curb. Dad and my boyfriend climb out of the car to talk to the Urie's while Josh and I are left in the back.

The shed on the edge of the yard catches my eye. The shed that I was held captive in not even an hour ago. My breathing grows quicker and shallower as I shudder at the memory still fresh in my brain, unlike the two-day-old snow on the ground.

Josh looks at me. "Are you okay?"

I shake my head. "I think I'm going to sit on the floorboards. If he knows I'm here..." I shudder again.

Josh nods, putting a hand on my shoulder. "Do what you need to."

I nod and unbuckle, then wedge myself between the front and the back seat, putting my knees to my chest.

Josh leans forward, some of his red hair flopping in his face. "Wanna hear a joke?"

I shrug carelessly, staring at nothing with unfocused eyes.

  "Okay...I feel like a million bucks.....very papery."

A small grin forms on my face.

Josh puts his chin on his hand. "Hmm...what else....Oh! One time I slipped in the shower and tried to grab onto the water..."

I giggle this time, which makes Josh smile bigger.

"Okay, last one. So, I'm going to name my daughter Chilada so that when her siblings have children, they will call her Aunt Chilada." (A/N: I hope you appreciate these, because I spent forever finding good tweets to quote!)

I accidentally snort this time. "If you do that, I'm going to name my kid Claire Annette."

"Nuh-uh," Josh says. "Nothing is going to replace Bon Qeesha."

We laugh for a few minutes as we wait for Tyler and my dad to return. We jump when both of them open front doors. They climb inside with grim expressions on their faces and buckle in. I climb back onto my seat.

Josh breaks the silence. "So...what's the news?"

Dad sighs. "We talked to the Uries, and they said that their son hasn't been home all morning and was out with a friend. We didn't ask them about the kidnapping; we'll let the cops take care of that. Tyler and I went around back to the shed and..." He trails of, but Tyler finishes the sentence.

"They cleaned up any evidence of holding you hostage. The ropes are gone, the chair is gone, any blood from Brendon's nosebleed was cleaned up....this is bad."

"So...what are you saying?" I ask.

Tyler reaches over and tries to grab my hand, but I flinch away. A hurt look crosses his face.

Dad draws a breath. "We think that Brendon and Ryan ran away. They probably went into hiding."

My stomach drops, and tears leak out of my eyes once more. Tyler says something to Josh that I don't understand. I feel like I'm underwater. I barely feel the cold air rush in when Josh opens the car door and trades seats with Tyler. He starts the car and backs out of the driveway as Tyler tries to comfort me. I ball up in the seat far away from him. I don't want anyone touching me. It just reminds me of Brendon.

We drive back home, my ears still muffling the noise around me. I run inside the house and upstairs as soon as I step through the door. Josh and Tyler's muffled voices trail from behind me, but I ignore them as I run into my room and lock the door behind me. I curl up on my bed as time seems to slow.

Brendon and Ryan are gone. They're wanted and on the run. They might not ever be caught. They could be causing more trouble to other people, or even try to kidnap me again. But if I stay in my room, then nothing will happen, right? I'll be safe. No one can get me from my room. I'll be safe in here.

"Jenna?" Tyler knocks on the door. "Please, we don't want you to feel like this. You need our support."

"Go away!" I yell partially into one of my pillows.

"Jenna, we're just going to stay here," Josh says.

"Leave me alone!" I yell louder this time.

"C'mon, let's just wait for her downstairs. She'll come out when she's ready," Tyler says to Josh. I can picture him putting his hand on the drummer's arm. Their footsteps fade away as I curl into fetal position and fall asleep.

I'm barely awake when I hear a soft knock on my door after what seems hours later.

   "Who is it?"

  "Tyler."

I slowly sit up. "You're still here???"

"Yes," he replies. "I wanted to check on you. Now, if you let me in, I promise that I will not lay a hand on you. I just want to talk and help you cope with what you're feeling. Yes, I know it's quite a shock about what happened. That's why we need to talk about it. Now, will you let me in?"

"Not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin," I half-heartedly joke while making my way over to the door. A very stressed Tyler stands on the other side. Motioning him in, I close the door behind him as he sits on my bed. I sit down opposite him with my legs crossed.

"So," he begins, "What happened from the time you were taken to the time that I showed up?"

I take a deep breath and play with the fabric on my comforter. "After I got the letter about you breaking up with me--"

"Which was from Brendon and Ryan," Tyler butts in .

I nod. "Which was from Brendon and Ryan, I went to the treehouse with my journal to think, like how you do sometimes. I was starting my most recent journal entry when someone suddenly grabbed me from behind, making my pen streak across the page. I saw that it was Brendon. He clamped a hand over my mouth to prevent me from screaming, then gagged me. I tried to fight, but he pulled out a knife and made me climb down the treehouse ladder. That's when I saw he had a buddy--Ryan--at the bottom waiting for me. He tied my arms and legs and threw me in a bag. We waited a few minutes before Brendon came back down the ladder. Then, they carried me to I think a van or something. I later woke up in the shed.

"After waking up, I saw that I was gagged and tied to a chair. They took my jacket, too. It wasn't as cold in the shed as it was outside, but it was still an uncomfortable temperature. Brendon only came by to check on me once, saying that he had plans for me later. Other than that, Ryan would come by about every two or three hours to check on me. Then, you showed up, and that's when Brendon just happened to decide to come check on me."

"So...Brendon didn't try to do anything to you before then? He didn't kiss you or anything?" Tyler asks, his brow furrowing. I shake my head, and he lets out a breath of relief. It's silent for a moment, until Tyler speaks again. "You know I'm not Brendon, right? I would never do any of that stuff to you."

I nod. "I know. I'm sorry if I'm upsetting you by not wanting anyone touching me. My skin is just crawling right now, and I'm so shaken up from the recent events. Hopefully I'll come around."

"It's okay," Tyler replies. "Maybe you should skip school on Monday. We could spend the day at my house like how we did when I wasn't feeling very good."

I shrug. "Maybe." I feel weirdly itchy and contaminated. "I think I'm going to go shower. I haven't showered since I got kidnapped."

Tyler nods. "Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Oh....um, I kind of took your journal to my house because Josh had to read some of the entries to figure out who the black-haired boy was. I can go get that."  He rubs the back of his neck. "Sorry for reading it."

I shake my head. "I don't mind as long as it helped you find me."

  "It did."

I get off my bed and get a change of clothes out of my dresser drawer as Tyler stands to leave. "Well, I guess I'll see you sometime tomorrow. Have a good night." He exits my room awkwardly as I wave him goodbye. I climb into the shower a few minutes later, hoping that it will wash away the nightmare this past weekend has been.

A/N: Sorry, that was kind of a crappy chapter :\
