Throws on a Mask that Will Alter (Her) Face

        •Tyler•

I scan the cafeteria, searching the crowd for Jenna. Note to self: pick her up from class and walk her to lunch next time. I mentally facepalm. That's what a good boyfriend is supposed to do, right?
Nice job, Tyler. She's probably mad or disappointed in you, now. Or both.
I rise from my seat and wave to Jenna when I see her walk through the door. She nods in acknowledgement, then walks over to the lunch line.
Mark sits down across from me. "So, how's your first day been?"
I shrug. "Nothing new. School is tiring."
He nods in agreement and picks at his spaghetti. I jump when I feel an arm bump mine, then realize it's just Jenna. She takes a seat next to me, then glances at my empty hands, absent of silverware. "You're not going to eat?" Her brow furrows in concern.
I shake my head. "Anxiety makes me lose my appetite."
"I'm sorry," Jenna says. "Are you feeling okay?"
I nod, running a hand through my hair. "Just a little overwhelmed."
Another tray hits the table with a clack as Josh sits down across from us. "Whatup?"
The three of us shrug and focus our attention back on the table. Josh softly hums to himself and drums three of his fingers in a pattern on the table.
"What are you doing?" Jenna asks him with a chuckle.
Josh snaps out of his daze. "Oh, we ran through some marching music that we were supposed to memorize over the summer in band today. I got our half time show kind of stuck in my head."
"Oh? What do you play?" Jenna inquires, leaning forward curiously.
"Trumpet," Josh replies (A/N: Like me! :D I can play his part in WDBWOTV, along with some other songs. Okay, back to the story...).
"Cool!" Jenna exclaims. "I knew you played drums, but I didn't know about trumpet." She twirls a spaghetti noodle on her fork and crinkles her nose in a cute kind of way. "Why did I expect the cafeteria food to be good?"
"The spaghetti is probably radioactive," Josh replies.
"Probably," I say. "It'll be sad being the only one alive after you guys die from food poisoning."
"Wow, you just made that really dark," Mark laughs.
   I shrug. "That's my job."
"So," Josh says. "I know all four of us have chemistry next period, but who else has classes together?"
"Tyler and I have World History together third," Mark says.
"Jenna and I have College algebra fourth and English eighth period," I chime in.
"Her and I have Home Ec together third period," Josh says. All of us fall silent, the conversation flowing out of us. I see Jenna hang her head and pick at her spaghetti. I grab her hand and whisper in her ear.
"Is everything okay?"
She shrugs. "I'm not that hungry anymore. Radioactive spaghetti doesn't really appeal to me." There's got to be something she's hiding from me, but I don't think she'll tell me what. The sixth period bell rings before I can ask her any more questions.

A/N: Sorry for another filler chapter. I'll try to get the story going. A few filler chapters sometimes can't be avoided.
