Chapter Two
What I didn't feel outside becomes different in here as all sort of emotions touches me the moment I step inside. It's like outside is a hollow ground while this place is the real thing.
The first thing I feel is the heat. The blazing sizzling heat that hit my exposed skin, soaking through my outfit to hit the skin underneath. Sweat coating on my forehead as I feel them drip in my back and the shirt sticking to my front.
Am I in hell?
I thought this was my in-between. It's not fair that I woke up in this palace, like that's not torture enough, they had to send me to hell through the place.
Now that I'm really thinking about it, am I supposed to be in hell? I mean I'm not just human. I'm also a Dihipian and where do Dihipians go after they die? They all have the tendencies to live forever especially the Higher Beings and I'm a royal, a higher being. Should I even be here?
Before I can get the chance to answer the question in my way, an angry roar answers for me. I can't believe I stepped inside this place without knowing what the place is.
I look ahead and see what looks like a geyser, a boiling natural spring which throws forth at frequent intervals jets of water, driven up by the expansive power of steam but this isn't water that's erupting from the ground. It's fire. Fucking molten magma erupting from the ground of the room. Is this even a room? What the fuck is this place?
Wait... I think I've seen this place before. It's look like the place I met Azra in my dream, the environment looks exactly the same. It has to be it.
The cave with an icicle sharp mineral in the look of dried magma is on the floor and roof of the cave, it safe to say I can call them stalagmites and stalactites but this is the fiery version. The walls of the caves have some carvings that weren't there in my dream or maybe I didn't notice. They look like they've been scratched off, so I can't really tell what the carvings are about. In my dreams, the floor are filled with bones like it's the ground work but the situation isn't the same now, it's has little amount of bones and I can tell from the skeletons that they were animals compared to the human–dihipian bony frame work I saw in my dream.
Where is this place? I ask myself inside because I'm afraid if I talk I might wake something.
This is obviously Azra's cave but he isn't here. I fear what's in here with me is more deadlier.
I go still when an approaching footstep sounds behind me. I swallow hard, curling my fingers inward in a tight fist. Please don't let it be the dragon. Please don't let it be the dragon.
I turn around slowly to see what's coming but surprise courses through me as I see what's approaching isn't a what at all, she's a girl. A child that shouldn't be a day older than five.
Who is she and what is she doing here? Figuring out who she is might help me figure out why I'm here.
I study her from head to toe, the jet black hair braided and held together with what looks like a pin with blood ruby. Her black eyes looks familiar, the coldness in those eyes reminds me of someone, her thin lip and the way she carries herself in the royal Dihipians warrior's outfit. I haven't been here long but part of what I noticed was the dressing and building because they are so different from Earth.
My eyes freezes on her hand or perhaps the object she's gripping in her hand. The Elsword. It looks the same like the one I used to wield but this one looks smaller like it's designed for her small hands and stature. But what exactly is going on? What the hell is a kid holding the Elsword?
"Hey, kid–" two things stops me from talking. The first is her walking through me like I'm nothing, just a thin of air, it's crazy I didn't feel her either. The second is the high pitched screeching sound from above.
That doesn't sound good.
In a slow manner, I raise my eyelids before my head to see what I never saw or noticed there before. Bat like creatures hanging from the stalactites, I didn't see them before because there body are identical to the stalactites but now I see them, I see the way their mouth are opened, their sharp fangs pointing and shining at me. They're crawling around the rock and all of a sudden like they communicated with each other, they all leave the rock, burst forward.
I take a quick step back without looking which makes me stumble and fall on my ass. "No, no, no, no, no, please no!" The flapping of their wings is loud and scary enough to make want to hide under my bed for a week but they're flying towards me. Me.
I raise my hand up to shield myself and close my eyes as I await their attack but the strangest thing happen next. Everything suddenly goes quiet.
One minute the whole cave was echoing in screeching and flapping sounds and now it's all silent.
I open an eye to see what's happening and when I notice the creatures aren't anywhere near me, I open the other eyes and look around, my eyes settling on the girl that walked through me earlier. She's standing in the middle of five magma geyser, each one erupting after the other. The creatures aren't making any noise because the geyser's roar is loud enough to cover it even though it was silent seconds ago.
The creatures are swarming the girl, flying around her in an uncontrollable and unexplainable speed, their flapping winds send sting pain to my ear. That is until she begins to levitate with the creatures as their speed slows down. I get on my feet with them and watch her spread her arms wide as she moves to an upside position.
"What the hell is going on?" I whisper, trying not to the the attention of creatures.
The girl moves her hand and the creatures follows the direction her hand goes, taking her higher with her still in an upside down position midair. This is the craziest thing I've ever seen and the display of the power is insane.
She spread her arms wide again before pressing the tip of her index finger and thumb together on each hands. It's hard to see from all the creatures flying all around her but I can still make out some things. She hooks the rest of fingers together and turns the intertwined fingers down. It looks like a symbol of some sort.
The next I know is the five holes that house magma geyser around her erupts all at once, going as far and high as hitting the roof of the cave and it stops just like that, not going back down or moving. The creatures screeches again before flying away from the girl, moving so far away from her and stops like the magma geyser.
Now what is this about?
I watch the girl's lips moves. She's saying something but I can't make anything out. She opens her eyes and breaks the seal–her intertwined finger and everything else resumes. The magma geyser goes back down and the creatures flies back to her but this time the geyser is going up and down really fast like the creature had down early. I'm curious as to what happens now because I don't understand what's going on or why am I here but I want to see this through.
But it's like what they say, be careful what you wish for.
The creatures makes a chirping sounds that actually sounds like bats, that's the sound they made before going for her but this time they aren't shielding her, they are biting her.
A gasp tear from my throat as I watch in horror as the creatures biting her. They aren't feasting on her just sinking their teeth and she did not make any sound.
I want to run to her, to help her but the magma is moving in such speed that's increasing the already hot temperature in here.
The ground begins to shake but the rumbling sound that sounds like a thunder doesn't affect the creature as they continue biting her but the geyser stops erupting. I look down and watch the crack on the ground from where I'm standing, I look back to check the source but there is no source, it's like an earthquake is about to happen.
The ground splits but not completely, I look below and all I see is the darkness staring back at me. It's like there's no life beyond this cave which is terrifying.
An eruption takes my attention off the ground to the girl but inside of the geyser it an open fire from the ground that direct on the girl and creatures. They make the distress sound as the fire burn them alive.
"No!" I scream when the fire takes the girl as well but like before I don't hear any sound from her.
When the fire stop the force holding the now burned to crisp creatures releases them and they drop on the ground together with the girl. I expect to see her toast body but instead she looks exactly like she was when she came in, no bite marks from creatures or the fire scar from whatever let the fire out. It's like nothing happened, which is making me more confused.
I watch her bend down and hold her hand out like we do when we want to feed pigeons or birds. Something jumps on it, not just something, a dragon. A baby dragon.
Is that what started the fire? A baby dragon.
She releases the dragon and rise to her full length, the dragon flies in front of her face, they're staring at each other. If I didn't know any better I'd say they're communicating.
The girl opens her palm and the Elsword appears, she holds it up and presses the steel or whatever the Elsword is made of, against her forehead. The dragon takes the cue and moves closer pressing his face against the Elsword like she's done.
"Lurytendra Azra Bycom!" She says and whole place begins to shake, rumbling sound all around me. "Lurytendra Azra Bycom!" The stalagmites begins to break while the stalactites drops from roof of the cave one after the other cause fire to break out but it doesn't seem to affect or bother her. "Lurytendra Azra Bycom!" This time she says it with command and they obey. I watch the Elsword sink into her face before Azra melt into her skin. They're combining, all three of them: the girl, the sword and the dragon.
When they're all inside of her, I watch the black veins appears all over her body, her eyes turning black. It's like staring into an infinite darkness.
Veins clears off her skin and her eyes turn back to normal. I watch her face curls in pain before she screams out in agony. I shut my eyes because I can't bear to watch this, to see her in pain. The screams turns into a roar and it turns into silent.
My eyes snaps open when I hear a thud, I open my eyes to see her passed out on the ground and everything else stops, the fire, the shaking and rumbling, they all stop like it's her controlling them.
I take a step to move towards her but another set of footsteps approaches. I don't turn back, I just let them walk past me before looking at them. One of them is a woman, the High Priestess I met at the temple before Lurytendra stole my body, and other is a man. I don't recognize him but the resemblance is uncanny. This is The King, Lurytendra's father.
The question remains: why are they just coming now? Didn't they hear her scream?
The high priestess is the one that goes to her in her white cloak, same as the one she was wearing the last time I saw her. She falls on her knees and touches her forehead before looking at the king to stays far away from them like a coward.
"You were right, my King. She is strong and–" she stops talking and her smile fades. "Gaidim!" She mutters and shifts back in fear.
"Gaea! What's wrong?"
The high priestess looks like she's seen a ghost. She points her finger to where the girl is laying, looking scared as shit. "The markings. She has the markings of the old gods."
The King doesn't say anything, he walks forward to see what she's talking about, I do the same and notice the same markings that appears on her skin whenever I summon the Elsword on the girl.
Okay... The markings? What's up? Why are they scared of it?
"It's like the prophecy foretold, the first ruler will rise again in the body of the unexpected abomination," the king says, looking down at his daughter. "This is evidence that she will rise again. El will rise again."
El? I'm confused. I thought El means King. Which El are they referring to? And who is she, the she he's talking about? I am confused.
Why am I even here if I can't get answers to anything?
"We need to get rid of her before her powers grows. She has bonded with the Elsword and the last dragon. That power alone is enough to make her dangerous and this markings, it just shows how much of the old gods powers course through her veins. We need to end her existence right now before she masters those powers. We need to kill her now before she end us all."
The king shakes his head, not agreeing with the high priestess.
"You said it yourself that she's different, she isn't one of us El. Her blood is different and you've let her live once, don't make the same mistake. The prophecy said she is destroyer of worlds. El!" She pleads with him.
"We will not kill her. What she doesn't know can't hurt."
"What are you saying?"
"Erase this memory, make sure she never remembers."
"Erasing the memory won't do anything. The markings will still be there, there's nothing I can do about them."
"She already knows she's different. She knows she isn't supposed to be alive. She knows the rules about heirs. She has bonded with Azra and Elsword, you won't be able to kill her because they are one in one now. You want to kill her, you have to kill the rest and you of all people know Dihipian dragons have no weakness and The Elsword is indestructible.
"If you erase her memories, she will think she's ordinary and I will begin her training immediately. Our realm is defenseless against the others, you know we have no secret weapon but we give Lurytendra the right training and she will be that secret weapon. The prophecy said a destroyer of worlds. It didn't specify the worlds. Instead of killing her, we can make her work for us. Those powers might be for good."
The high priestess doesn't look convinced. "What if it doesn't work that way? What if she snaps?"
"Then you know what to do."
I blink and suddenly I'm back in the common room, that's what I'll be calling this place, the place surrounded with door.
I'm not in my afterlife or the inbetween. I'm in her memory.
What does this mean?
The memory I just saw now is a revelation of what she truly is and even she doesn't know. At the moment she is one of the strongest being in existence and she hasn't even unlocked her bad side. What happens when she does?
Was her father right to let her survive? I mean, I wouldn't have been born if it wasn't for him.
Was the high priestess right to erase her memories? Who know what she would have become if they hadn't erased the memory.
One thing is for sure, I'm about to get to know the real Lurytendra. The erased and remembered one.
This is worse than hell but I'm curious. The curiosity leads me to the second door.
