"How do plan on taking care of me?" I ask as I stop at the entrance, taking in the appearance of the room. It's big, very big and apart from the big bed in the middle of the room, it's otherwise empty and it's funny because our voices isn't even echoing. Behind the bed is a floor-to-ceiling window made with the crystal substance.
"Wait till you see the bathroom," Damian must have seen the surprise on my face when he says that. He doesn't wait for my reply, he grabs my hand and pulls me to the bathroom, which is at end of the room. If Damian wasn't here, I wouldn't have guessed because the door matches the wall of the room.
The bathroom is like waterfall themed but–
"A waterfall? Oh my God, it's like a lake. Are all the bathroom like this?"
"Yep!" He answers and pulls me back to the room.
"Wow." I spend the entire day fantasizing about this beautiful place but I have things on my mind, one of them being Damian. "Where have you been?"
"Had to get some work done." He answers and I'm surprised at this new attitude. He was angry when we left earth and was more moody when we got here, but now he's being, well, not his usual self. He's answering all my questions and joking with me. That's strange somehow.
"Like?" I press.
"El hasn't replaced me as her executioner, I had matters to attend to." He shrugs.
Executioner? He never mentioned it.
"Her executioner? As in you kill for her?" I mean word executioner literally means someone that executes.
"I do."
That's not hard to hear. I know he kills people, one of his first memories I saw when I touched him was of him killing people on a battlefield.
"Wow, that is... I have no words."
He chuckles, which is also new. "Speechless? That's a first. Up for the tour now? The next hour will be busy because of the festival."
The Knife festival. I cannot wait to witness the ridiculous tradition but right now I'm burnout. I haven't slept a wink since what happened.
"I'm actually tired. Can we go in the night?"
"Oh..."
"Oh?" I ask with my eyebrow up. "What?"
"The sky doesn't change here."
Say what now.
"What do you mean?"
"The sky doesn't change. The sky remains the same everywhere, it only goes slightly dark when the realms shield covers it, which is when we go to sleep."
Now that is weirdest shit I've ever heard.
"How do you know the time and night time?" I'm curious.
"We can't use up to a day here." He informs me.
"Why?"
"Because a hundred thousands Dihipian years equal one earth year. If we're quick here, we'll be back on Earth and no time would have past."
Someone pinch me please.
"That is one of the craziest thing I've ever heard. Fine let's go on the tour," might as well do it right away.
"We'll probably see the knife festival on our way."
"Where does it happens?"
"There's an open field in the low lands."
"Will El be there?" Not sure why I'm curious about her appearance, I guess I just want to know if she'll also be dancing. I have questions about the knife festival. What happens when one of the mate dies? Do they participate in another round?
"No, she never attends."
"How's Jessica?"
"Alive, stable and well. She won't wake up until we get back to earth."
"Will she remember?"
"She will but not the resurrection process, which was why we had to put her to sleep."
"Is she okay?" I ask, needing to know we didn't journey across the Galaxy for failure.
"I just said she's fine," he frowns, thinking I was still asking about Jessica.
"Not Jessica, El. Is she okay?"
"Why did you ask?" His raises his eyebrow in question. I wanted to ask in a way that wouldn't be suspicious but I guess I wasn't discreet enough.
"When Jessica was brought back to life, something left El body and went into the water. Damian, she faded for like a second right before my eyes and when she woke up she was confused, she looked sick. What's wrong with her?"
"I don't know."
"Did you just lie to me?"
"Yes." I appreciate his honesty.
"Why?" I frown.
"Because it's not my place to tell you."
Not good enough for me but I'll take it.
"Do you at least have the idea of what she'll take from me?" Been dying to know what she'll take.
"What?" He asks in small tone like he has no idea what I'm talking about.
"Wait, you don't know. She said she'll only bring Jessica back if I agree to give her something in return. I thought you knew and that was why you were adamant about coming."
So why was he angry?
"I knew."
"So what's the problem?"
"Let's go on that tour, where do you want to see first?" He changes the subject.
"The farm's market, is there a farm's market?"
"Yes."
"I want to see that. Also the gardens, I want to see the plants, the flowers, the animals, museums, ancient building, the ruins. If you have that."
"We do and we can't see all of Di Hipsodat. It might look small but it's actually quite big."
"It's big all right, just take a look at the size of the bathroom, not to talk to the room."
"We can't go to all the places you mention because you want to see the knife festival but we'll see some."
"Okay."
"Do you want shower or...?"
I think I'll get lost in the shower, so it best I don't.
"No, I'm good, let's go."
I notice his mood shift. He looks sad.
"Are you okay?"
"I am, why did you ask?"
"You seem sad and angry, why?"
"Camille, I..." He stops himself.
"What's going on?" He's acting weird and it's making me freak.
"Nothing, let's just go."
Damian is hiding something.
