C58
I stand with Damian and Dean at the edge of Deamon opened inside and watch as it takes us to the ground. There are more than twenty figures on that ground, waiting for us no doubt. I brace myself as Deamon's feet touches the ground.
"Don't be scared. She can smell from miles away and she loves it when people are afraid of her. She thrives on being scary and untouchable," Damian warns me silently, the look on his face is far from relief and content. He looks afraid and the one look I've never seen on his face. I want ask what's going on but I know he won't tell me now. We are here already, the talking window is shut.
"Dam-El." Dean's voice cut through and he also sounds like I've never heard him before. His tone holds warning as if Damian isn't supposed to tell me all those things about El.
Damian shoots his father a look and something passes through them like a silent agreement. He nods and faces down, where the people are waiting on our arrival.
This is it, Cami. This is the moment you've been waiting for. It's finally here. A voice says in my mind. The moment I've been waiting for. Ever since I found out that there's actually a possibility of me having a family, I've wanted nothing more than to meet them. I did meet them but they didn't turn out as what I'd expected. Now, I get to do over. I get to meet my grandmother, the woman I've only heard horrifying stories about. This should be fun.
I brace myself and wait for one of them to hold my hand to make the jump down but they do the exact opposite. Damian is the first to jump and then Dean. Not knowing what to do, I look down and swallow the lump in my throat. I'm not scared of heights, not at all but the moment I step my foot on the ground of the High Lands, then this whole thing becomes real. I've never flown on plane before and here I am in another Galaxy, on another realm.
"You've got this, how bad can it be." Giving myself the pep talk I need. I curl my fingers inward in a tight fist and make the jump. My feet lands on the ground as my body bends with the land.
I stand up straight and notice the pairs of eyes on me, giving me a strange look. Two of them are putting on a white ceremonial cloak with the biggest sleeves I've ever seen. I can't see their hands, it's hidden inside the sleeves. Those two are the only ones different, the rest are definitely security details. I can tell their uniforms. All men, well, except the females in white.
No one is doing anything, they're just looking at me, the expressionless look they're giving me is reminding of Damian. These are his squad. His people.
"Jal fundi gosty og aehja bustie ala Gaea." Dean says to the women in white.
'He just asked if The High Priestess Gaea is on ground to look at Jessica.' Damian's translates through telepathy. I have a feeling we'll be doing more of that around here.
The women nods.
'Can't they speak?' I ask Damian.
'They can but they aren't allowed to speak outside of the temple.'
'That's a shitty rule.'
He shrugs without looking at me. 'It is what is it.'
"Dam-El, jas for." It sounds like an order, what Dean just said.
Damian nods and looks at me. 'I've been ordered to take Jessica to Temple. I'll meet you inside.'
The women in white jumps inside Deamon with Damian. The creature fly off, taking them to the temple.
Leaving me with Dean. I look at him for guidance of some sort. I don't know anything about this place, so I'm basically ignorant of what we're to do next. It's as if he can read my thoughts because he looks forward and yells, "Keindieh!"
The guards moves on their feet, forming two straight lines. They raises their left hands up and slaps it down on their chest before raising the hand up again, they bow their heads and all whispers, "El-Gar-El."
Okay, I wasn't expecting that. They respect him enough to bow for him. That's cool.
"Come, Cami. Your grandmother is waiting," he tells me and starts walking. Not knowing what to do, I follow behind him. We pass through the two formed lines the guards made and don't stop until I see the end of what looks like a stone stairs but not quite. It made up of the same substance the bridge is and the each edge of the end of the stairs is a tower of fire. It looks like there's something under the ground that's opening the fire and I wait for it to close but it doesn't. The fire is just there and no one is running or scared of it.
Dean let me have my moments before stepping on the stairs. I follow his lead but when the sole of my steel boot touches the stairs it glows like it did when I touched the wall. I look at Dean, it doesn't glow when he walks, why it is glowing for me?
"Because you're royal and we are in High Lands, the home of the royals." He answers without stopping or looking at me. He knew exactly what I was asking myself like he could read my mind.
"Telepathy is a sin on Di Hipsodat, keep your thoughts even and respectful because she hears everything no matter how much you shield your mind, you can't hide from her." It's a simple warning and the more step I climb, the more I want to turn back and leave. They're all making her sound so scary and I don't want to be afraid. I've never have, well, except for my dream even then I wasn't scared or afraid, I was fucking terrified. And all these extra warnings aren't helping.
We get to the top the stairs and see a wide opening with no door. "This is the palace, Damian will take you touring later," he says.
"Why Damian and not you?" I ask.
"I'm the gatekeeper, Cami and I'm back now. I will be at the gate." He answers.
We enter the palace and fuck, this place is amazing. It's undescribable and beautiful. Each step I take just reminds me that I'm not on Earth anyone. We walk past different statues on each sides of the wall with writing on the walls behind them.
"What's with the statues and writing?" I ask curiously.
The statues lines until we get to another room, an empty hall with different doors. Now I'm confused as to why they're are so many doors.
"The statues represents the Kings or El Di Hipsodat that's ever rules, and the writings are their stories, all what they've done for the realm." He replies.
"What about the first space? There used to be a statue there, right?" The first statues at the entrance was removed and the writings on the wall was craved out, I can tell from the footprints the statue left and the scratch on the wall.
"That belonged to the first ruler of Di Hipsodat and stories says he wasn't a very good ruler."
I raise my eyebrow in question. "Stories? Aren't you supposed to be the knower of all. You are the story keeper, which mean you know exactly why he wasn't a good ruler." I taunt, becoming more curious of that statue. The stories I've heard of my grandmother isn't the best and inspiring but her statue is mounted in the hall. What could have gone wrong with that Dihipian. Why wasn't he good?
Waiting for Dean to answer, he doesn't, instead he walks towards the third door to the left. I notice the doors don't have knobs, it's not until I reach in front of it that I realize that it's not a door, not really. I also notice that it takes him a minute before making the decision to come to this particular door. Why?
"Because this is where your grandmother is." He answers, not hiding the fact that he can hear everything I'm thinking.
Sick.
"Come on," he says and walks through the door. I gasp because what I just saw right now is supposed to be impossible. He just walked through a door, not teleport. Walked through.
This is what happens when you make a trip to a realm you know next to nothing about.
I raise my hand up and move forward to feel what the supposed door is made of. My hand touches the slimy substance and it keeps going until my whole body is through it. My eyes are wide open through it but nothing enters it. I come out of the other side looking the same, no touch of slime is on body. It's like I just walked through air, which is–
The sound of a scream of agony pulls me from my thought. I snap my head to the direction of the scream and gasp when I see a body levitating in air with a woman standing in front of him, her head is raised to him and I have no doubt that that's her my grandmother.
The body looks disfigured like some set of claws ran him over. His arms and legs are spread wide, blood dripping from is body.
"Zaibu, El. Zaibu!" He screams but the sound of his bones snapping makes me gasp out loud. I watch as the horror unfolds in my eyes, all the bones in his body snaps and them forced out of his body. That's not all. His body then turns inside out and when what's left of his body drops to the ground, it reminds me of a minced meat. His body lays with all others on the ground.
The sight is enough to make me puke but I swallow it, remembering what Damian told me about not letting her know I'm afraid.
"I thought that would take forever," she speaks in English. I should be surprised but I remember Damian telling me that she met the father of her son on Earth and Dihipians can learn any language by physical contact.
She turns back to face us, she looks clean not like someone that's just fucking tortured and killed a man. No hair is out of place. Her face doesn't look sweaty or tired. No stain on her body.
My eyes freezes on her face. "Hello, Camille. I've been waiting for you." She says with a dangerous, wicked smirk.
Oh goodie.
I'm in hell.
