DAMIAN

Sirens. Yellow tags. Cop everywhere. What exactly happened here?

Much to my dislike, Jessica followed me and talked her way through the whole bus ride here. I was able to detect it was her when we got to the town's bus station. Camille always smells like grass and rain. To me, it's my favorite smell on Earth.

Apart from her usual grassy rain smell, I caught her scent but there was something different about it. It was dark, it wasn't like anything I have smelled on her but I know it's Camille. So, Jessica and I followed the scent, here.

We're feet away from the diner where there are cops surrounding the place. We don't know exactly what happened in there but I can smell it from here. Whatever happened in there is bad.

I can't tell what's going on from where I'm standing. I need to see for myself.

"I'm going in," I tell Jessica, not like I need to tell her my move but I want to know if she's coming with me or not. I'm tired of standing behind a tree, watching from a far like a coward.

"Are you crazy?" She asks, her brown eyes popping out. "The place is swarming with cops." She waves her fingers at the scene in front of me as if I don't have my sight.

"And?"

This is what I have to deal with. I know agreeing with her coming with me is not an ideal move but I didn't know it would be this difficult. I compared her to Camille but spending almost seventeen hours on the road with her makes me rethink my decision because there is nothing similar about the both of them.

Camille is quiet and would never strike unless provoked. I admire that about her actually. She is kind of an introvert and I think there's part of the reason why she was quick to pick on people in school, because she knows she doesn't do well alone. Which is why I'm worried about her now.

Jessica on the other is a complete joke. She is extremely loud and doesn't know when to shut up. She deserves the clown she calls her mate but who am I to judge?

"And they won't let you in, you won't even get far," She says without taking her eyes off the cops. She bent over, resting her weight on her palm pressing on her knees. I worry for the joints in her wrists. "What are you going to do? Waltz in there like you own it?"

"Yes, that's exactly what I'm going to do and you can either stay here and wait till I get back or stay here and do whatever you want, your pick." And that is my ultimatum. I hope she just goes back to The Vale, it will be safer and easier for me.

"That's your option?" She frowns up at me.  "You'd like it if I disappear, right?"

"Yes. But unfortunately you don't have that power. Follow me or stay here for all I care." Without giving her the chance to reply, I walk away. She is such annoying little brat.

"Stubborn little shit you are," I hear her voice mutter before feeling her hand on my shoulder. I don't like people touching me and before I can call her out, she cast a spell. "Reped." The invisibility spell.

I don't understand how her powers work. She isn't a witch but spells works for her. In all my time on Earth, I've never met a sage who is also a mage before. I've seen sages and mages but never both in one. And seeing as how she can cast spells like a witch, it's like she's also one. I've been so focused on Camille that I didn't think to study everything else, but let's be honest, when have I never been focused on Camille?

"Get your hand off me!" I growl, something I never do but people tends to forget there manners when they are with this one.

"If I take my hands off then we'll be exposed. Come on, let's get going." She quickly says and pulls me towards the diner. We slip through the cops, making sure not to touch anyone. Some of the men here are in suits. Detectives.

We enter the place undetected. My eyes widen at the sight in front of me. "W–what the hell happened here?" I hear Jessica gasp beside me.

Dead people, not just dead, feasted on. Something feasted on them and I bet I know what. Physical head count is thirteen, all dead. The windows are broken like something forced it's way in.

"She was here?" Jessica says in form a question, obviously surprised at the situation we find ourselves.

"Thank you for pointing that out but I have eyes too."

As soon as I saw the broken windows, I knew it was all Camille's doing. Her dead ravens did this but why? They've never killed anyone before, let alone feasted on their dead flesh. Camille has been gone for almost seventy two hours and her scent here is still strong, which means she was here yesterday. But something bothers me though, these bodies looks rotten like they've been dead for months.

I know her powers are getting stronger but they are also getting deadlier. Her ravens are her call to rescue and the Camille I know would never call them except all these people provoked her, even then she wouldn't do this. She isn't a killer. Beside she knows how to manipulate and control her ravens but not to this extend. Something is definitely change and where could she be?

"What do you think happened here?" Jessica, still in her mental state, asks. At least she isn't talking me to death this time.

"Not sure," I tear my hand off Jessica, knowing I alone would be exposed.

"What the hell are you doing? They'll see you." She says.

"Let them see me first, until then, keep shut!" I snap, knowing they won't see me.

I look around the environment, studying where I am. I didn't know what this is, I would say it was a ambush because of the way the bodies were scattered and I can see weapons. Guns. Knives. Now, I don't know who pissed whom off, possibly someone talked shit about her and she retaliated but she knows better than to expose herself like this.

There's a sword mark on the a table and I know it's not from the Elsword because the Elsword will cut through instead of just graze the surface of the wood. Which means a sword fight happened here and she obviously lost. She wouldn't have conjured the ravens here especially not to kill them.

I don't want to be wrong but I'm confident that Camille didn't start that fight. I just have to see for myself. I sigh before squatting. I place my palms on the floor to relive what happened. The environment change to night, the exact moment Camille entering the diner.

She looked exhausted and hungry. She ordered her extra sweet dinner before going to sit. The men around her teased her and she got angry, stood up and kept her cool. She didn't start the fight. They attacked first before she took off her jacket. Big mistake, she shouldn't have done that. Her markings attracted people and everyone stood up, ready to attack her before she put them to sleep.

She bent down to access on their memories but she wasn't able too because someone else showed up. And I'll be damned if I don't know her. Karai Khan. Now, what is Karai doing here. Her reputation precedes her but I know. More especially, I've fought her before.

One of Treta's students turned rogue. Karai is as good as her teacher. More ruthless and deadly. If she was here, then I already know what happened. Camille can't defeat Karai in a fair fight because Karai fights to kill, and I only taught Camille how to defend.

I'm not surprised to see her toss all her knives are Camille. She didn't even give Karai any cut. Camille fell down but not before sending her ravens here. She didn't send them to kill these people, at least not consciously. I know Karai couldn't kill her like that. Moments later, someone else came to take her.

I remove my hand from the ground and turn to Jessica. "Do you know where she went?" She asks curiously.

I shake my head. "Someone else got her." And I bet I know who. There's only one person that I know smells like cigarettes and booze, that has a personal vendetta against her grandmother.

Raymond Dark.

There's a pattern here. They are all here to kill Camille. Which means the person that spelled Jessica and the rest to kill her did it intentionally. But why? Why did they want her dead?

She hasn't done anything. And something tells me this is just the beginning.

I have to find her fast because she isn't safe with Raymond.
