Confession of a Different Kind
I'm trying this again!!! Hopefully it will upload!!! T_T
The next day, Danny got dressed early and headed down stairs to eat breakfast with his parents for the first time in a long time which they were delighted with. Danny just wanted to get the day over with.
The walk to school was torcherous. Danny kept imagining Sam walking up to him and confronting him on why he's been gone so long. He hadn't thought up what he was going to say yet, but he figured he had better start with the truth. Of course they knew about Jazz and what happened but they had no idea Danny had been skipping school to go see his 'arch enemy' Vlad. They would think he was crazy for taking comfort in someone who had tried to kill him more than once. But throughout his visits he had found that Vlad had shared his same pain though a bit differently. While Danny was lost deep in thought, he hadn't realized that he had already made it to school.
"DANNY!!" A very sleep deprived Sam screamed while running up to him.
"Where have you been?! Do you know how worried Tucker and I have been?! What the hell Danny! I know you've been going through a hard time but you can't just cut yourself off from everyone! Do you even know how much-"
"Nice to see you too Sam," Danny smiled weakly at the worried goth girl. She instantly pulled him into a hug to hide her tears.
"I was so worried Danny...." Danny hugged back loosely.
"Where's Tucker? I need to talk to the both of you after school," Danny pulled away from the hug and started looking around. Sam wiped her eyes, smearing her eyeliner a bit before answering.
"He's probably in the gym for the science fair right now, the judging starts in just a few minutes," Danny grinned.
"We should go support him!" Without waiting for her answer, Danny was making his way across the school to the gym.
Upon entering he immediately caught sight of his friend. He looked horrible; bags under his eyes, blotchy patches of red across his cheeks, slightly red and bloodshot eyes. At least Sam could cover up her misery with her makeup, Tucker didn't own any, let alone how to use it. Danny felt terrible for the pain his friends had to go through, and felt even worse about the news he would be sharing with them soon. Without another thought Danny called out to Tucker.
"Tucker! Hey!" Danny ran over to where he was, grinning all the while. Tucker's eyes went wide.
"Danny! Where have you been?! Do you know how worried sam and I were?! Do you know-"
"Yeah, yeah, Sam already yelled at me for ditching you guys and stuff, look I'm sorry," Danny laughed, throwing an arm around his friend's shoulder, "Now what did you make for this science fair?"
Tucker was more than happy to present his latest science project to his two best friends. It was all going well until judging started.
"All contestants to the front!" One of the judges yelled. Tucker grinned and waved as he made his way up to the front of the room as they announced the winners.
"Congratulations Tucker Foley! You get first place!" Danny and Sam erupted into yells of joy as the rest of the kids in the gym just clapped. Tucker grinned at them from the front of the room as he was awarded his first place trophy. Everything was going great... how did it end up like this.
WOOSH! Ember's sound waves from her guitar broke all of the windows in the school.
"No, no, no, why does she have to be doing this now?!" Danny screamed at himself.
"You WILL REMEMBER MY NAME!!" Ember half screamed half sang while strumming her guitar and sending her ghost beams towards Danny. He barely dodged them in time.
"That's IT!" Danny screamed, losing his patience, "I'm going ghost!" Just as usual, the beams shot out and transformed him. He took no time to flew up to Ember and confront her.
"Why are you doing this? Damn it this is my last day at this school Ember! Why can't you just leave us alone?!" He shot one of his own green ghost beams at her, almost hitting her guitar.
"I'm just getting my revenge from our last fight dipstick!" Ember smirked as Danny struggled yet again to dodge her beams.
"Enough of this Ember!" Danny shot as many ghost beams as he could at a time, again, and again, and again. Until he finally hit her guitar, breaking it in half.
"What the-" Ember stopped in mid-air in shock as she looked over her beloved guitar, "How DARE YOU!!" She grit her teeth as she shot many ghost beams at Danny just as he did her, but he was dodging them with ease now.
"Lalalala you can't hit me!" Danny taunted the angry ghost girl, making her even angrier.
"You stupid dumb fu-" The beam left her hand before she could finish her sentence, missing terribly. Danny's eyes went wide as he heard a shout of pain from inside the school.
"Stop Ember, STOP!" Danny shouted as he flew as fast as he could back into the school to see who had been hit. A look of horror washed upon his face when he saw Sam flat on her back holding onto her leg for dear life.
"Oh my god... oh my god Danny... it went through my leg!" She shouted, still in shock.
"No, no, no, no, hang on... we'll get you help!" Danny held Sam's body in his arms, cradling her leg to make sure he wouldn't hurt it even more, "Okay just hang on a sec... I'm taking you to the hospital right now, I will NOT lose someone else!"
Danny flew as fast as he could to the nearest hospital, surprised that Ember had just disappeared from the fight, it was unlike her. But he paid no mind to that as he flew into the emergency room.
"Please my friend needs help!" Danny didn't notice that Sam winced at the word 'friend'. Nurses crowded around and moved Sam into a gurney.
"You'd better go now..."
"No, I can't! She's my friend! I have to make sure she's o-"
"She's okay," the nurse confirmed, smiling kindly at the ghost boy, "But if you want to wait for her in here you can, please have a seat... if you can." Danny nodded and sat in the corner of the waiting room.
An hour or two later and Tucker was sitting right next to him.
"Do... do you think she's okay?" Tucker finally spoke. Danny only nodded, afraid that if he spoke he would only start crying. So instead they sat in silence until a nurse finally came out to tell them the news.
"Your friend is okay, but she just had to go through a very long surgery," she explained, "We can only allow you five minutes with your friend until you will have to leave to allow her to rest." The two boys nodded and got up to follow the nurse to Sam's room.
They knocked, once, twice, until a faint voice called to them from the other side.
"Come in," it said. The two boys entered the room to be met with a sad and extremely tired looking Sam. Her leg was in a cast with lots of bandages, not to mention it was hanging from some rope from the ceiling.
"Hey guys," Sam waved awkwardly. Danny was to her side in an instant.
"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm SO-SO SORRY!" Danny gently hugged onto his friend as she giggled lightly and patted his head.
"It's fine... I'm fine, I promise," Sam smiled with love in her eyes as Danny pulled away from the embrace. Tucker meanwhile stood awkwardly behind them.
"Well um... I'm going to... go get some snacks from the vending machine! I'll be right back!" Tucker ran from the room to avoid any questions.
"Well that was weird," Danny laughed, not noticing the tension in the room. The two stayed in silence for a moment.
"Danny I have to confess something-"
"Sam I have to tell you something-" They exclaimed at the same time. Danny laughed in embarrassment.
"You go first," Danny insisted. The goth girl took a deep breath before returning her attention to Danny as he stood awkwardly by the side of her hospital bed.
"Danny... after everything we've gone through, I've realized that I... well I like you. Like you, like you," Sam finally confessed, "I mean, I think you feel the same, that's why I decided to... tell you... now," Sam trailed off as Danny's eyes widened.
"Sam, I-"
"You don't have to say anything-!"
"I'm sorry I don't like you the same way-!" Danny cried out at the same time Sam spoke.
Silence....
"O-oh..." Sam finally said, tears already brimming at her eyes.
"I'm sorry Sam, I didn't mean to-"
"No, no it's okay. I'm sorry for saying it," Sam smiled lightly as the first few tears fell, "I don't even know why I'm acting like this, honestly," Sam wiped at her eyes with the back of her hand, turning away from danny slightly.
"I'm sorry-"
"No, it's fine. W-what did you want to say before this?" Sam put a fake smile upon her lips and turned her attention to Danny once again.
"I'm leaving Sam... my family is moving to Amity Park this weekend," Danny said slowly, hating that he was bringing more bad news to his friend.
"...Oh..." Was her only response for a solid eight minutes. By that time Tucker was back with an armful of snacks.
"Guys guess what I got- Hey what's wrong?" He asked noticing the dried tears upon Sam's face. Sam shook her head.
"Danny's leaving... moving actually, to Amity Park," Sam said sadly. Danny nodded, unsure of what to say.
"Oh...." Tucker said, setting the snacks down on a nearby countertop before coming over to find a seat next to Danny. But before Tucker even sat down, danny was already standing up.
"I'm sorry but I have to go guys... I have to start packing and stuff," His two best friends said nothing, just stared in shock at him, "I'll try to stop by one last time before I leave for good.... Okay? Bye," and with that, he was gone.
