━━━BLOOD STILL STAINS.

"YOU'RE STALLING." Betty sighed as her fingernails clicked against the metal table in annoyance. She tilted her head, studying the boy across from her with a frown. His lips quirked into an amused grin that emphasized the trouble sparkling in his eyes of viridian.

"It's not stalling when I'm getting distracted by you're cuteness, Betty Cooper," Xavier mused earning an eye roll from the blonde. He chuckled and leaned back into his seat. "We're cousins, Xavier, remember?"

"Yes, unfortunately I do," he scowled at the reminder. He looked away from her to stare at the wall in thought. "I was trying to forget after everything."

"Which you have yet to tell me so if you're just going to continue wasting my time. . ." His neck craned in her direction quickly. His eyes narrowed to slits at her, jaw locking. "Do you really want to finish that sentence?"

"I'm starting to think you're just toying with me," Betty admitted. She clasped her hands together to stop herself from fidgeting. "Mmm, I've done so to a lot of people, but I never toyed with you Princess."

Xavier exhaled loudly and shifted in his seat. He raked a hand through his fire licked curls that fell to his eyes. Betty cleared her throat unsure what to do with the silence that now blanketed the room.

"Why did your dad kill Jason?" Xavier shrugged, averting his eyes. Betty frowned. "Okay, so why did you kill Jason?"

"You and everyone in this town think Jason is some kind of saint when he's not," Xavier chuckled dryly. "At least I admit that I'm not one myself. For fucks sake I lured my brother into his own death without remorse. It's almost as if I pulled the trigger myself."

He met Betty's eyes once more. She did her best not to flinch at how dark they were with hatred and fury. His voice was dripping with venom that she had yet to have heard until now. Xavier's delivery was always sweet like honey when around her.

"Why?" Betty whispered, afraid that his anger would become explosive. He noticed her tone and cleared his throat. He sat up straight and placed both his elbows on the table. "Our story begins with Jason and Polly."

"Polly used to visit our house all the time without the knowledge of our parents, much less Cheryl. Only I really knew about it because I wasn't shy about sneaking in and out of the house. My parents knew that."

Xavier glanced down at his handcuffs. He smiled at them, thinking how ironic it was that he found himself chained much like all the other girls in the school who fell prey to his charms. The predator was chained by his prey. I guess it was a twisted form of poetic justice.

"They had been doing so for months and usually I would catch Polly on her way out while I smoked. It started off innocent her and I. . ."

Polly Cooper wrapped the letterman jacket around her small frame. The midnight winds nibbled at her bare legs sending chills down her body. The door of the Blossom's mansion shut softly behind her.

"You didn't have to be so quiet," Polly jumped at the new voice from behind her. She turned around to face the boy it belonged to. She felt her breath hitch. "I normally don't care to be silent when I go in and out for a smoke my family knows it."

"X-Xavier," Polly stuttered. She felt her cheeks grow warm. She felt exposed being in nothing but her top and shorts. Jason's oversized jacket hid the little pieces of clothing she had on giving the illusion to her nudity. "What are you doing here?"

"I live here remember?" Polly's cheeks grew darker in embarrassment. Xavier chuckled finding it cute. "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me."

"What do you mean it 'started off'?" Xavier's smile was mischievous. Betty felt her stomach twist. A throaty chuckle escaped from the Blossom boy's throat. "Because it did. Until it wasn't."

"Polly and Jason's relationship wasn't always good like they portrayed it to be. Polly came over for months and would talk with me for a bit each and every time. It was to the point that it became a routine for her to talk to me when she would leave. It sort of became our secret. I think Polly enjoyed the time spent of being heard and having her feelings be acknowledged.

"And I guess, in a way, I did too because I felt a sense of enjoyment knowing that I wasn't the only one who knew just how toxic my brother could be."

"I don't understand why he would be so mean." Polly cried. She wiped her tears with the sleeve of her jacket. Xavier looked at her apprehensively. He normally wasn't one to comfort those in tears unless it was his older sister, but he'd make an exception for her. "It'll blow over. He just needs time."

"Okay, but what about my feelings?" Polly sniffled, clearly hurt. Her tears fell harder making Xavier grimace. "Polls. . ."

It was enough to send Polly into his arms. He froze, unsure of what to do. She was silently crying into his chest. He slowly wrapped his arms around her waist, tightening his hold on her when she gripped his shirt.

"It's going to be okay," he leaned down to whisper into her ear. "Everything will be okay." He rested his chin at the top of her head while rubbing her back. Polly slowly calmed down and broke apart from him when she was ready.

"I'm sorry," she sniffled, wiping her nose. Xavier smiled, nudging her with his arm. "Don't worry about it. You looked like you needed it."

"I don't want to go home yet." Polly whispered. Xavier stared at her, lips pressed together. She shuffled on the spot, playing with her sleeves. "Then don't. Lets go to Pop's."

"So we went to Pop's. We ordered shakes and fries. That night we just sat, talked, and told jokes," Xavier's lips tilted at the corners. Betty watched as his eyes twinkled; he was reliving the memories. It made her heart drop. "I don't think I laughed as hard as I did and neither had she."

Betty felt a lump form in her throat. She was never jealous of her sister, she loved her too much to be. But here Betty Cooper was, suddenly feeling envious of the memories Polly had created with Xavier in secret.

"I like to think that I got her mind off her and Jason's fight. After we ate she still didn't want to go home so we cruised around."

"So far it doesn't sound bad," Betty interjected. Maybe it was her trying to get a verbal reassurance from him as her denial prevented her from seeing the truth for what it was. Xavier's eyes cut through hers. "It normally doesn't in the beginning, right?"

"I dropped her off that night. She was happy and thanked me for everything. She had a lot of fun and so did I do we agreed to do it again some time. I didn't realize the next time would be the following night. Her and Jason were still on the rocks, but it was getting better. We went star gazing after getting Pop's."

"Thank you so much for taking me out these past two nights, Xavier," she turned to face him after a comfortable silence fell over them. Xavier got off his back and laid on his side so that they both faced each other. "You know, you're not so bad like you make yourself to be."

Xavier chuckled at her words. He rolled his eyes making her laugh. She hit his arm playfully.

"I'm serious, Xavier!" She giggled. "You're a really good guy."

"Only to those that are worth showing. I'm still pretty bad, Polls," Xavier's eyes glistened in the moonlight, enchanting Polly who couldn't help, but stare at him in awe. "Am I worth it?"

"Clearly. We wouldn't be here if you weren't,"

Xavier laughed. Polly scooted closer to him and bit her lip. Xavier took note with raised brows. She smiled at him and he couldn't help, but fall victim to her beauty. He mimicked her actions and swallowed. The tension between them became electric. Xavier's breath became labored.

"What happened next, Xavier?" Betty questioned breathlessly. Xavier's eyes met hers. His voice was low. "Temptation."

Xavier was on top of Polly in an instant, his lips attached to hers. Her hands cupped his cheeks while he lowered himself against her and began to thrust into her. She wrapped her legs around him, welcoming the action. Their clothes became too hot and tight.

Polly moaned into the kiss that was hungry and sloppy. She tugged at his shirt. He broke the kiss to yank it off. He was staring down at her through hooded lashes. His lips were swollen, body being illuminated by the pale moonlight. He looked like an angel.

Little did she know he was Lucifer's incarnate.

Polly propped herself up on her elbows. They were staring at one another, neither breaking the silence. Xavier, having had enough, dove straight for the kiss.

The two were inseparable. In a blur both of their clothes were scattered across the blanket Polly laid nude upon while Xavier slid inside of her.

"You and Polly had s-sex?" Xavier nodded, hitting his knuckles against the table. "Every time her and Jason had problems I was her release and I guess in a way it was my way of saying 'fuck you' to Jason. It was good, but like all good things they come crashing to an end and that's exactly what happened."

"What the hell do you mean you're pregnant?" Xavier hissed through gritted teeth. His fists were clenched in anger. Polly pinched her eyes closed. She stood her ground against the taller boy who was looking over her. "Polly, what the hell aren't you telling me?"

"It's yours!" Polly screamed, unable to hide the truth any longer. She started crying hysterically at the revelation. "The baby. . . It's our baby, Xavier. . ."

"You mean. . ." Betty started off in horror. "Jason wasn't the father of Polly's baby, Betty. I am."

"But Polly wouldn't have cheated— she would've told me. . ." Xavier snorted, and reclined in his seat. "Just like you would've told her you cheated on Jughead for me?"

Betty became silent.

"That's what I thought," Xavier chuckled. Betty shifted in her seat awkwardly. "They couldn't ruin their perfect image so Jason forgave your sister for her infidelity. Jason started to hate me and forbid me from seeing Polly. It's one of the reasons they wanted to run away together. When I heard the news I was pissed."

"Pissed enough to want your brother dead?" Betty accused. Xavier shrugged seeming bored. "I didn't want my kid to be raised by my brother. The thought of my son or daughter calling him daddy when I was more than willing to take care of him or her. Hell even Polly. But the shit Jason was saying and the fact that they were actually going to leave; I had to do what was necessary."

"So you lured him into your dad's trap."

"Correct."

"Then you and Mustang taunted and beat him." Betty pieced together. Xavier nodded, smiling. "Correct once again, Princess."

"And then your dad killed Jason."

"Watching the video and knowing the back story makes this all the more interesting doesn't it?"

"And FP cleaned up the mess," Xavier looked at his nails clearly disinterested. "I always liked FP. Shame him and I are the ones getting caught up."

"Okay, but one thing isn't adding up."

"Which would be what, Princess?"

"Why us? Why V and I? What makes us so special?" Xavier ran his tongue over his teeth. He was silent for a few moments while his eyes bore into Betty's. She didn't break his stare.

"I would do anything for my father's approval. I think that's why I admired Veronica so much. Archie has a thing for her. He hurt my sister that night he wore his jersey. It was only fair to make him hurt too."

"So you got with Veronica to spite Archie?" Betty gave him a disgusted look. She shook her head in disbelief. "Believe it or not, I would do anything for those that are worth it."

"And me?" Xavier's smile was sharp, yet his tone was playful. "Im getting a weird sense of dé jà vu."

"Xavier."

"What do you want me to say, Betty?" Xavier shook his head. "You have an innocence I wanted to corrupt. But you can't corrupt the ones who are already damned. You're just as bad as me."

"I am nothing like you!"

Betty seethed. She stood up abruptly, her chair falling from behind. She leaned in close to Xavier who mimicked her actions. Their noses were mere centimeters apart.

"You are everything like me, Betty. It's why we fit so well. Your darkness compliments my own. You think you're nothing like me, but you were close enough to murdering Chuck that night in the hot tub weren't you?"

The door burst open with Sheriff Keller storming in. "Alright that's enough, Betty it's time for you to go," he instructed. He grabbed her by the wrist leading her out.

She looked over her shoulders as the Sheriff ushered her out. Xavier called out to her with a devilish grin, "You're capable of killing someone, Princess! It's only a matter of time before you do too."
