━━━YOUR SECRETS AND LIES

THE BELL CHIMED OVER his head as he entered the diner a couple of minutes late. His neck craned in the direction of watchful brown eyes assessing his appearance almost irritably.
His voluptuous lips curved at the corners hinting at his dimpled grin. Raking his hand through his disheveled curls, Xavier Blossom took confident strides down the aisle of Pop's where his date awaited.
Her skin glowed underneath the neon lighting empowering her dominant presence. It highlighted every angle of her sharp features, yet softened the pools of her dark eyes framed by her black lashes. She was stunning; her pearls stood out against her olive complexion reminding him of her importance. Her body was in a fitted plum dress that was covered with a black overcoat.
Xavier winked at her when their eyes met and sat himself in the booth across from her. He leaned forward, planting both his elbows on the table as did Veronica.
"I was a little disappointed that I couldn't pick you up, tonight, Ronnie." He teased with a cheeky grin. Veronica returned the smile, only her's was less authentic. Xavier picked up on her upset mood. Smile now gone, Xavier raised a brow at the raven haired beauty who studied him closely. "What's wrong?"
"You said that you'd help me if I went on this date with you and not only are you five minutes late, but judging by your. . . wrinkled attire━━"
Veronica's nose scrunched up in disgust as her eyes landed on Xavier's slightly wrinkled shirt. His eyes followed her gaze and he frowned when she noticed his shirt having been pulled. He ran his hands over it, hoping to smoothen out the creases, but his failure was prominently evident.
Xavier found her eyes again that were filled with revulsion at the ideas behind his late entrance and messy attire.
"━━ you've kept busy. Listen, I get we're not exclusive, but the least you could've done is not screw some girl before you ask another girl out on a date!"
Xavier stayed silent. Veronica sighed heavily and caught her composure upon it slipping away from her grasp. The raven haired beauty flicked her hair off her shoulder almost haughtily. Xavier's lips curled at the corners, but fell when she continued to rant.
"I'm not even sure why I came because clearly you don't care, but that's not a surprise anymore. . ."
Xavier tilted his head in confusion. "What's that supposed to mean?" His eyebrows came together in perplexity, but the twitch of his nose when he scowled displayed he was more than just confused. Veronica narrowed her eyes at him, lips set in a firm line.
"Don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about Xavier when you have the most points."
"Most points?" Xavier scoffed at her explanation. It seemed to piss her off more so than she already was. "What the fuck is that supposed to mean? You're speaking mumbo jumbo to me here, Veronica."
"I know about the book, Xavier,"
Veronica got closer, their noses just centimeters apart from colliding. Realization washed over Xavier who kept his expression neutral.
It indignanted Veronica how stoic he was to her revelation. How could he be so calm? Why couldn't she read him? Didn't he care that she would expose him and Chuck to the principal?
"Betty and I both know. And so does your wicked sister who thought both you and her beloved Jason are sweet little angels━━"
"Are you done?"
His question was fast and to the point. It was dripping with unsaid irritation. Veronica blinked, clearly taken aback by his clipped tone and response.
"Excuse me?"
"Do you want me to say it slower for you to understand?" He was mocking her now, toying with her vexation that was nowhere near his own. "I asked are you done? Need to hear it again, sweetheart?"
Veronica scowled at him and scoffed. She leaned back in her seat muttering, "wow" while shaking her head. She smiled humorously, and looked around the diner in shock at his questions. Pursing her lips, she found his gaze that was boring into her own, capturing her soul in the process before he held her in position.
She was his prisoner without him having touched her throughout this entire time.
"You're just an entitled asshole who thinks he can get away with anything because you're the prince of the town. But news flash, you're not Xavier. This little reign of yours is going to come crashing down and you and Chuck can burn with it for all I care. I was stupid for even coming here."
Getting up, Veronica slide out of the booth in a hurry. Xavier studied her movements noticing how she avoided his eyes as hers were pooling with unshed tears. She raised her head, holding it up high. Salted river streams ran along her cheeks that she wiped away with her hands. She didn't bother to spare him a second glance and strutted her way down the aisle and towards the exit.
Xavier's fingers curled into tights fists whose knuckles began pounding the surface of the table. The door chimed and it was in that moment Xavier stood up abruptly. "Fucking shee-it." He mumbled under his breath as his legs carried him towards the door and outside of the diner where Veronica continued her way in the direction of her home.
"Veronica! Veronica, stop!" She ignored him and kept walking. Xavier groaned internally, and transitioned his pace into a small jog. "Veronica!"
"Damn it, Veronica, just stop and listen to me will you?" He reached her almost instantly, and latched his hand around her wrist. She spun around and yanked her wrist out of his hold. "Let go of me! Don't touch me! I don't want you━━ I don't w-want you near me, right n-now."
Her voice cracked at her submission. She shook her head and found interest in her heels. "I don't deserve this. I deserve better; not just some guy who just has sex with other girls and tallies them up as if it's some sort of game. I'm not just some number for whatever twisted game you and Chuck and your brother made up, Xavier." She looked up at him, her tears flowing.
He extended his hand to brush away the tears, but stopped halfway. She had flinched and it was enough to control his impulse. He dropped it limply to his side, lips set in a firm line as he studied her broken state. He didn't understand what she expected from him━━ he was notorious for creating destruction and agony.
"I didn't have sex with with a girl before I came here to meet you. As if it's any of your business, but I haven't fucked anyone since the girl from english," his tongue poked out from his parted lips and ran along his bottom lip. "I was late because I was talking to my 'wicked' sister."
Veronica was watching him in silence as she wiped away her tears. He had her attention and he knew it. He cleared his throat.
"My shirt was wrinkled because she was yanking at it and punching my chest." He nibbled on his lip. "She told me about the book. She was upset because I didn't tell her that her perfect twin was responsible for the damned thing."
Xavier closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I thought it was stupid. Childish even. And I told Ja━━"
Xavier choked up at the mention of him. He practiced saying his brother's name multiple times after his death, but it was foreign and unwanted.
"Each hookup I had, Jason knew. The guys involved would tell him and he'd write it down in the book. My name isn't on there because I wanted it to be, Veronica. It's on there because Jason couldn't handle his brother saying no to him in front of all the guys. He was the captain after all; he had a reputation to maintain and I couldn't fuck this up for him."
Veronica nodded, but remained quiet. Xavier ran his hands through his hickory dyed curls.
"It's why I quit the team. I didn't want any part of it. "
Xavier fished into his inner pocket inside of his leather jacket and pulled out a lighter and cigarette. Placing the drug in his mouth, Xavier flicked the lighter on igniting a spark of a small flame. He protected it with the cupping of his hand in front of it when bringing it to the end of the cigarette that sizzled to life. He dropped his hand while the other placed the lighter back in his pocket.
He took a long drag, highlighting the salient structure of his cheekbones. With his index finger and thumb, he removed the drug from his lips and blew out the cloud of nicotine. He grimaced as he looked away from the raven haired girl who watched him with a frown.
She had stopped crying.
"Listen, I get it. I could've exposed my brother's ass a long time ago. I could've done something even though I wasn't apart of it. But I'm just as guilty because I did nothing about it. Hell, I didn't even stop him because I didn't care,"
He took another drag and exhaled. Veronica soaked in his words as she wrapped her arms around herself.
"It wasn't my problem. I figured karma would come and bite him in the ass and that would be enough. Shit, I was waiting for the day so I could laugh in his face the moment I saw his reaction when he got caught."
Xavier smiled and chuckled. He shook his head as he envisioned what it would've been like if it had gone down that way instead of what it was now. His smile vanished when reality settled in. He tore his eyes away from the empty parking lot that made his cherry red jaguar stand out and found interest in Veronica.
"Ironically enough, I saw the day, but he didn't get to. And I guess I can laugh at myself because I'm the idiot who's going to get in trouble for his mess again," he took one last inhale and exhale before he dropped the drug to the floor and smothered it with the sole of his shoe. "I don't care about a lot of things, Veronica, but don't you ever say I didn't care about this date because I do."
"I am an asshole. I've never denied that. Why would I? A prince though?" Xavier puckered his lower lip and nodded, clearly impressed. He found her eyes again, the corners of his lips raising into a boyish smile. "That's new, but I could get used to it if you be my princess?"
Veronica broke out in soft laughter. Xavier's smile widened before he could stop it from happening. She shook her head at his joke, but her award winning smile was enough proof that she enjoyed it.
"I'll take that as a yes?"
He took a step closer, careful not to overwhelm her with his daunting height and thunderous presence. She looked up at him, a playful smile now gracing her lips. He returned it as he studied her under hooded lashes.
"It's a maybe. It's still under consideration."
"Hmm. And what about this date? Is it under consideration for a maybe as well?"
Veronica closed the gap between them. She went on her tippy toes just as he lowered himself so that they were leveled with one another. She leaned into his ear and whispered seductively, "It's a yes without a doubt, red." She drew back painfully slow that had Xavier running his tongue along his lower lip again.
Shaking his head and the thoughts flooding his mind away, Xavier mimicked her actions and whispered, "After you, babygirl." just as his teeth nibbled her earlobe and released it provocatively slow.
He heard her gasp and he grinned to himself as he drew back and gestured for her to go feigning innocence she knew was anything, but an accurate description of Xavier Blossom.
The second redhead who she found attractive, but was the first to obtain her interest in pursuit.

THE BLOSSOM WHO WISHED to suppress his fire licked curls, was observing his reflection with scrutiny. The dye was set ablaze by his genetics that refused to be ignored. He snarled at his roots that had burgeoned faster than he expected. Xavier held the box in his hand that would give him more time in avoiding the truth of his identity that he loathed.
"How long are you going to invest in that god-awful hair dye before you accept yourself?" Xavier opened the box and started to prepare for the process. "Just because you can be rid of your natural hair color with stupid dye doesn't mean you can do the same to me by ignoring me."
"Wanna bet?" Cheryl smacked the dye into the sink, spilling its contents into the sink. "What the fuck, Cheryl?"
Xavier fumed. He turned to her instantly and cornered her against the wall. "I get that you're still pissed off with me, but the shit you just did doesn't fly with me, got that?"
Xavier pointed his finger at her threateningly. Cheryl let out a small shriek of surprise at Xavier's aggressive behavior.
"Miss me with that hissy fit bullshit of yours that you can feed to anyone else, but me. " Xavier removed himself from their close proximity and ran his hand along his face. "Fucking shit, man. This fucking family. . ."
He was glancing between the mess in the sink and his reflection that was tired. Shaking his head, he craned his neck in the direction of his sister who was still pressed against the wall with silent tears running down her face. She closed her eyes and gulped.
"I'm sorry, Xavy. I'm so sorry. I'm just upset that JJ could ever do something so. . . demeaning,"
Cheryl shook her head and sniffled. Xavier was desperately hoping she would stop crying on her own before she fully broke down.
"You knew, but he was my twin and I didn't even know. Maybe I don't know Jason as well as I thought after all."
Cheryl slowly slid down the wall, but before she could fall to her knees, Xavier fell to his and caught her.
She collapsed into his body and he reluctantly wrapped his arms around her. The sobs came shortly after that shook her entire body. Xavier brought his lips to the crown of her head and kissed it tenderly. He rubbed her back soothingly, while rocking the two back and forth.
He knew that his sister was lost without Jason because he was everything she could never be nor achieve━━ he was her identity. And while he tried to hide his, she was still in search for one. It was ironic, really.
Cheryl Blossom, the Queen Bee of Riverdale High, was just a little girl hiding behind a front bigger than herself as she was nothing, but a shattered soul.
And Xavier Blossom. His name was already a joke; no one took him seriously because all he was good for was sex, money, and drugs.
The true Star of Riverdale High now that he was no longer the shadow of his brother. Though, he was nothing, but a fraud who was in desperate need of escaping who he truly was━━ a monster.
He wasn't in need of an identity like his sister because he already had one.
And he hated it.
"I'm sorry that I reacted the way that I did, brother dearest," Cheryl broke their contact and sniffled again. Xavier nodded. "Veronica and Betty told Weatherbee about the book."
"I know."
"How?" Cheryl questioned suspiciously. Xavier rolled her eyes at her tone. "Veronica told me." He said as if it were the most obvious thing. Cheryl's face twisted into confusion.
"When did you talk to her?"
"That's irrelevant. What happens now?"
"Chuck and his goons are suspended." Xavier stayed silent, but nodded in approval. "Be honest with me, Xavy. Did you have anything to do with that book?"
The two held one another's stare, neither one breaking it. This was their unsaid way of quizzing one another to see if the person in questioning was lying. The moment they broke contact, was the moment their lie was exposed. It was a good thing Xavier was able to bypass the quiz without exposing his true intentions that weren't always honest.
"I had nothing to do with the book. Promise."
