*Yami's POV*
"And then she said yeah it distracts me from your face!" Joey yelled and we all erupted in laughter. It was lunch time and I have made friends with the whole group except one. Marik wasn't in today and no one knows the reason why.

"Hey Yami are you free after school? Wanna hang out if you are?" Mai asked and got a little too close. I just let out a nervous laugh and moved away from her. "Calm down Princy I'm having a laugh. Has no one ever flirted with you?"

"To be perfectly honest not really. I wasn't allowed to be with many people when I was young," I said and she gave me a nod. I saw Joey had a cheeky smile on him and motioned at Yugi, knowing our past together.

The bell went for the last few classes and it was my worst subject... p.e. I used to be really good at racing but since I had to spend a lot of time with Rebecca I didn't have time to pratice.

"Yami wanna team up with me? The teachers are making us do a three legged race around the block," Yugi said and I gave him a confused look. "Hehe you don't know it huh? It's were two people have one of their legs tied together, thus creating three legs."

"Oh I see, seems simple enough. Sure why not," I said and Yugi crouched down. He tied his right leg to my left then got back up. "Wait won't we trip while walking?"

"That's why I tied us up right now, so we could get some practice in. Move your left leg first," he said and I did it, bringing his leg with me. We started to move forward and even picked up the pace. This isn't so bad, it's actually fun.

The teacher called us over and we joined the rest of the class. He gave us a route of where we were running and what time we should be back for. He gave us a count then sent us on our way. I didn't realise it, but the route he gave us is the exact route we walked when we were kids, talk about a trip down memory lane.

"Hey Yami is that your palace up the hill?" Yugi asked and pointed up. A little smile appeared on my face as I told him it was. "I would love to stay somewhere like there, I bet you could see the whole city."

"Yeah but the spot I showed you is an even better sight. Come on let's try to beat the other teams back," I said and pulled him forward. Again we started to run and soon enough we got back to the school. Another team was back before us but it was Yugi's friend so we didn't mind much. Final bell went and another school day was done, but when I went to the front for my car it wasn't there.

"Hey Yami do you want me to wait with you," Yugi asked and I denied him, wanting him to get home to his house. "Fine then, if you won't let me wait then I'll have to drag you with me!" He grabbed my hand and he started to drag me away from the school. Try as I might, I couldn't stop him and ended up walking with him hand in hand.

The walked seemed short but it took us a whole 20 minutes to get to mine. "Ya know Yami, I know where you live...and you know where I live so..."he said and his grip tighten on me. "Instead of a car ride why not we walk to school? Seto and Joey can walk as well."

If this was a movie...my heart would be outside of my chest. He's asking me to be with him in the mornings. This would probably carry on to the afternoon as well, I can't believe this!!! "Y-Yeah if you want. I'll ask Seto to join us," I mumbled and tried to not sound nervous. Yugi gave me a smile and a final wave before leaving and heading back down.

When I turned to head in I saw my car driver was running towards me. "Young master! Young master please you must come right away!" he yelled and when he got to me, he grabbed my arm and dragged me into the castle. We got to my mothers throne room and I could hear coughing from inside. "Don't go in for now young master."

I didn't listen and ran in to see....my mother lying in her bed, blood coming from her mouth. "Yami leave right now!" someone screamed but I couldn't move. My legs were frozen to the sight that was in front of me. "Seto get him out right now, I need to work."

Seto came up to me and started to move out, I tried digging my feet into the ground but Seto had more strength then me. "Yami...I'm so sorry I should of-"

"When. When did you know about this?" I asked and Seto took a step back from me. "What does she have? Is she going to be alright and don't you dare lie to me."

"Yami....Fine. Your mother has fallen extremely ill. At first it was a normal cold but it's gotten worse. We tried to help her but with her history. She doesn't have long...a few days at the least..."

"NOOO!" we heard and stormed in. A doctor was holding her hand and she had her eyes closed. "How could we let this happen! We were right here!!"

"What the hell is going on speak up now!" I yelled and held the collar of whoever was the closet to me. Silence filled the room as eyes feel on me. I didn't need words to know...my mother is dead.

....Poor Yami. At a young age he lost his dad and now his mom has passed away too. Now when it comes to bloodline, he is the last in his family. The next in line for throne. Can he handle all that pressure at his current age. How will Yugi react when he hears?
