Chapter Thirty-Three (The Ace of Spades and the Joker)

Wewataxicia, Texas...

Kennedy Charity Deveraux- seventeen, statuesque, blonde bombshell.

A pageant girl in her own right mind, she believed that the war between the popular kids and the bottom-feeders were bound to last for all time with the latter forever serving the former in high school and college. She was known to be the ultimate Mean Girl that could give Regina George and her minions a run for their money with her single-handed social ladder rules at Mount Vernon Academy (home of the Pirates).

1.) Nerds must always do homework for the jocks, even if it means failing miserably.
2.) The Populars hold sway over the teachers, meaning that nerds have to make nice and shake hands at all times.
3.) Pep rallies are a must every Friday to boost morale. Failure to attend means severe punishment.
4.) Nerds and populars will never fall in love with each other. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Kennedy abided by those rules and would make sure that all of Wewataxicia teens knew where they stand, her intending to spread her message to every high school across the globe.

But she was also known to be close friends with one certain nerd who was known to be a contradictory young man who believed in helping the Populars gain control, especially when he is playing double-agent. So when her parents announced that they were to spend Thanksgiving weekend with the Dennards who were currently making their home in Berkeley, it was all the more reason for her to accept the invitation to spend time with her godbrother. Not only that, she also learned of one Kyle York who was now in the company of one Marcel Dermott, both boys now going steady as devoted boyfriends. Once she learned of the whole story so far, she knew that the wheels of Brian York's movement were in motion yet the Outcasts of Sandifer Bay High were doing all they could to turn the tide.

As she was finishing up making arrangements for the Thanksgiving weeklong holiday (which would turn to a plan to move to Berkeley and her transferring to Sandifer Bay), she knew that she needed to aid Marion Dennard for all she could while ensuring that Kyle "Kevarix" York and Marcel "Blue Sentry/Ortex" Dermott" would remain the superhuman it-couple of the millennium. "Fee-fie, fum-faux. Look out, Berkeley, because here comes Deveraux," she hummed as she fussed with her cheerleading uniform while booking her airplane ticket that would take her to the fated city. "It'll be good to help Marion AND show those losers how things really work around here. As for Kyle York, my family and I will make sure that he remains loyal to the Titan Club and his boyfriend. Once Thanksgiving week arrives, there's no going back."

She was sure of it, because Kennedy Deveraux was not one to be denied of anything and everything that she wanted.

Waxiacalatchee, Mississippi

Kelante DeSean Parrish, a nerd in his own right that loved three things in order: God, his family (his maternal grandparents in particular), and all things "RuPaul's Drag Race" and soap operas (both shows being the thing that bonded his relationship with his grandparents and his single mother (his father being dead from being caught in the crossfires of a robbery gone wrong when he was only a toddler).

Despite being a part of the track and baseball team, Kelante was a class all his own with brains, good looks, and street-smart wit that can outmatch the hardest gang-banger yet has impeccable manners that can charm any woman and the adults. But most importantly, he cherished his relationship with his cousins of California, Kyle York in particular since they were known to give Brian York grief for not being seen with any airheaded jocks or snooty people who acted too cool for anyone's tastes. He also knew that his great-aunt and great-uncle believed that Kyle was meant to be someone other than the jocks.

So when he got the phone call that he dreaded the most- Kyle York being under his father's influence and being a part of the Popular crowd while being a teen superhuman and dating one- during his lunch period at Grant-McVeigh High School (Home of the Wolverines); he and his clan knew that dark forces were at work. Once he learned of the whole story from Khadijah and Khandi York (his cousins whom he shared a strained yet cordial relationship with), he knew that he and his clan needed to get to work. And since the Thanksgiving holiday was fast approaching, it was all the more reason for the Parrish family to make arrangements to visit Berkeley and ally themselves with Tamarious Browning, Tiffany Detweiler, Mavis Telfair, Yesenia Maldonado, and Marion Dennard since the war of the popular kids and the nerds were growing more and more apparent. Even more so since the all-male Titan Club superhero league made themselves known.

"You already know that Brian and Lisa York are no-good heathens who liked to make sure that their children conform to their silly American dreams," his mother told him as she got ready for work as a night-shift nurse (she getting ready to transfer to a new hospital in Berkeley, prompting the family to get ready to move). "It's up to you to bring Kyle back to his senses to keep the Tillman-Parrish family name untarnished and purified, Kelante. You're going to have to be demoted to the Outcasts since you're a nerd and all, but it'll be worth it in the end."

"Don't worry, Mama," Kelante replied as he was getting his belongings packed for the big move to California. "By the time I arrive in Berkeley and Sandifer Bay, those snobs won't know what hit them. And as for that son of a bitch named Brian York, all bets are off."

He was sure of it.

Two new arrivals. Two different causes. Gentle reader, by the time Kennedy Deveraux and Kelante Parrish arrived in Berkeley and transferred to Sandifer Bay High School as senior transfers, the battle lines that were drawn before between the Beautiful Teens/Titan Club and the Outcasts, no one would be prepared for what would soon follow.

For Kyle York, the balance between his old life and his new life would be blurred into one dark fantasy as Marcel and the others fight to keep him at their side. Turn the page, my friends, and prepare yourselves.

All right, ladies and germs! Kennedy Deveraux is joining the Beautiful Teens/Titan Club while Kelante Parrish (Kyle's country cousin) will be allying himself with the Outcasts. And when they arrive as new kids on the block, there's no telling what will happen next!

In the next chapter, Tamarious comes face to face with the new version of Kyle and demands answers before Marcel and the others set the Outcast straight. Oh, my! The tea and shade is throwing down in this story right here!
