I was crawling in the tunnel with everyone else behind me, following the scent of food. "It's this way!" I whispered, turning and pointing.

Madie fist pumped as we went on our way. We didn't have any lunch that day, and we were still hungry after dinner. Plus, Amelia didn't get any food because she was out. So, you could say, this was a mission of some sort. To... protect the Time Watchers! Or something... A crack of light poured in from the top of the damp, dank ceiling, and I stopped in front of it and moved aside the tile that blocked it, then stuck my head out. Surprisingly, I was well hidden.

The passageway was underneath a kitchen table, that was cluttered with every kitchen utensil in the world. The table was long and wide, too. There was only one person left in the kitchen, the butler. He must be making his rounds for the night, I thought, making sure the castle is secure and free of any pests. I felt a smirk pull my lips up. Well, he can't catch us!

"What do you see?" Asked Madie in a hushed voice.

I moved out of the way so she could stick her head out.

"Hmm..." She pulled her head back in. "We'll wait 'til he leaves."

"Who?" Connor asked quietly.

"The butler."

"We should find out his name," mentioned Charitie, "I feel bad just calling him 'the butler'."

Razz and I nodded.

"I'll find out his name by doing a search in history, if you want." Said Jericho.

"Maybe later." I suggested.

Connor stuck his head out and watched the butler, keeping close to the passageway's entrance. After a few minutes, he pushed his head back in. "Okay. We're clear."

One by one, we began to slip out of the passageway and into the kitchen. Having a very big sweet tooth, I had my eye on finding some treats, wherever they'd be. Madie and everyone else were eating whatever they found. "Don't forget about Amelia," whispered Becky.

Madie began to store food in her bag that hung on her belt. It was mostly bread and cheese, but still good. I glanced around, opening random doors and cabinets, but found nothing I was looking for.

"So, what do you guys think of Amelia?" Asked Alex.

"She's alright." I said, my head inside a drawer.

"Yeah, but she's also kind of..." Razz tried to find the right word. "Bipolar."

Connor shrugged. "I mean, she can get kind of whiney."

I said, "Oh, come on. She's not that bad." Then I hesitated. "But yeah, I can see what you mean. Sometimes she's fine, but then she just blows up."

"What do you think made her do that?" Asked my sister.

Charitie hummed an 'I don't know', shrugging her shoulders.

"Some people are just like that," said Samantha, "whether we like it or not."

"Very wise, Sam." Jason admired.

"And it rings with truth." Added Jericho.

I jumped for joy as my eyes caught sight of some powdered, doey treats on a plate. I grabbed a few and shoved them in my mouth, then closed the cupboard, whipping the powdered sugar off of my lips.

"How do you think Friday is?" Questioned Samantha quietly.

My appetite somehow vanished, which is a very hard thing to do to me. I forced the goodies down my throat, seeing everyone else was unnerved.

"He's--he's Friday," Alex said meekly, "he'll... make a portal gun or something... Yeah, that sounds like him..."

We all knew better, however. Either that, or our minds refused any good thoughts to arise. Before we could say anymore, we heard footsteps, and we all dashed to the passageway. We had been instructed by our watches, each of them teaching us how to use the abilities we already knew and have and making them better. They also taught us how to be stealthy, agile, brave, strong, and basically an assassin. We all slipped down the passage entrance in seconds, pulling the tile that was used to cover it over the top, leaving an inch or two uncovered so we could still see.

We all gathered around and watched the butler enter the kitchen, looking around suspiciously. He held something in his snazzy outfit that butlers wear, hurrying over to another table with a few goblets and wines sitting patiently on top. The butler poured one of the wines into a goblet, then pulled a small bottle with a green liquid inside from his butler outfit. He popped off the stopper and dumped the entire contents into the goblet, looking around frequently, making sure no one saw anything.

Poison! I thought, eyes widening. I didn't have to tell anyone what I had just discovered, because we all figured it out on our own. When the poison was mixed into the goblet, the butler smashed the bottle into the furnace and lit it on fire, leaving with the goblet in his hands.

We have to stop him! Was written on Jericho's face. I nodded and bounded down the tunnel, which was pretty difficult, considering I had to crawl. Everyone followed from behind me. We went to the tunnel that led to King Andrew's bedroom, knowing the poison was ment for him. When we all popped out of the tunnel and climbed out from under his bed, it was already too late.

Andrew was taking a draught from the goblet, the butler standing next to him, hands rubbing each other nervously. Then Andrew dropped the goblet and held his throat, gulping in air and sweating like he ran a five-K in a hundred degree heat. The butler smirked. The wine spilt on Andrew's bed, burning his bed sheets and staining them pretty bad. Then, Andrew fell back, dead.

We all groaned, annoyed. We thought we could have kept him alive for at least a day. Guess not. We set our watches back forty seconds, then travelled. The thing with time travel is that if your already somewhere and don't change your location, your going to time travel in the same place. Which means, we didn't have to go through that tunnel again. Which means, we were forty seconds ahead of the butler.

Andrew jumped in surprise, his book flying out of his hands. He was sitting in bed, his oil lamp burning next to him. "HOW DID YOU--"

"SHH!" Madeline hissed. Connor and I stationed ourselves next to the door, I on the left and he on the right.

Andrew was still trying to grasp what had just happened when the butler came in. "Hello, Your Highness. I thought you'd like a gahk!--"

Connor got him into a head lock, and I knocked the poisoned goblet out of his hands. The liquid splashed onto the floor, sizzling and smoking on the carpet. I helped Connor hold the butler down as Andrew stood up and looked at the floor.

"What happened?" Amelia asked, rushing into the room with one of the maids. "We heard a crash when we were looking for you, and--" Amelia took in the scene, the maid turning white with shock and horror. "... Poison?"

"Mm-hm." Razz nodded.

Andrew looked up at us, stunned. "First, you enter the room out of thin air, next... you save my life... I--I can't believe it..."

"Well, our job was to protect you by any means necessary. Even by use of magic." Madeline said.

The maid was on the floor, scrubbing up the poisoned wine. The butler in our grasp was struggling, babbling on and on about how he 'didn't know the poison was in there' and cursing us for 'accusing him of such dastardly deeds'. Of course, we told Andrew the truth, and he sent guards to take care of the butler. What made me sick was the knowledge that he would be hanged in the courtyard, at the stroke of ten the next morning. When the butler was dragged away, King Andrew--I keep wanting to say Prince Andrew--stood above the burned carpet, cleaned up at the best of the maid's abilities. He sighed, crossing his arms over his chest.

The Time Watchers stood in a huddled group, waiting for him to speak. Even Amelia had joined us, and Lorita filled her in by spelling everything out for her on the watch's face. What felt like an hour later, Andrew finally looked at us.

"I didn't know you had magic." He said, bluntly.

"Well now you do." Replied my sister.

"What type of magic? What can you do with it?"

"Um... good magic, and we can... teleport." Said Amelia. I winced as it came out as a question.

Andrew looked at each of us, then stared down at our watches. "Do your bracelets give you these powers?"

"Yep. The sorcerer who sent us created them." Madeline said without hesitation.

"Interesting... Can I see one of them?"

"NO!" We all exclaimed, holding our watches, protective of our friends. Although Amelia didn't say anything, and only covered Lorita instead of drawing back like everyone else. I'm not sure what their relationship was, but it didn't seem like the strongest relationship they could have.

Andrew held his hands up in surrender. "Whoa! Calm. I just wanted to inspect it, nothing more." He put his hands down. "You should keep your bracelets a secret. Others might wish to use it's power for themselves." He gestured to the door, "Spies, such as Herb, for example."

"Understood." Connor bowed, and so did the rest of us.

Andrew sighed. "Really, no bowing needed. Now, get some rest."

* * *

"So what you're saying is," Charitie said, "that you want us to fight as dragons, because you told Andrew--in your dragon form--that you would gather up your dragons to fight along side him?"

We were in Amelia and Charitie's room, some of us sitting on the bed, and the rest on the floor. People had gone to sleep an hour ago, so we decided to have a little 'Time Watchers' meeting. Amelia had eaten her fill, and she then told us of her secret little gatherings with Andrew. All of which were on accident, by the way. So, can't blame her for that, I guess.

"Well, when you put it that way," Amelia rubbed her arm.

Charitie looked straight into her eyes, then shrugged. "Yeah, okay."

"Wait, seriously? You aren't angry?" Amelia blurted.

"Nah," this was Connor, "not really. We needed some way to use our powers, right?"

"O-okay! I thought you'd be, you know, pissed!"

"Watch your mouth!" Lorita scolded.

Amelia ignored her. "So, I guess I'll go out tomorrow and tell him."

"Keep on the look out for spies and assassins, though." Reminded Jericho.

"Yeah, sure." Amelia waved a hand, brushing him off. I didn't like how she did that, but I didn't say anything. Lorita beeped, reminding Amelia to refill her battery. Fumbling in her pocket, the newest Time Watcher pulled out the small charger for Lorita and placed it on her face, then waited for a few seconds until she was refilled.

"So, that's it, then." Madeline shrugged. "Tomorrow, watch everyone, and keep hidden when you enter town. People could get suspicious if they saw us."

With that, we went to bed, ending the eventful day.
