Chapter Two

The cold  air tickled Brielle's nose when she could hear the  birds chirping as the sound of nature surrounded her.

Brielle  pinched her nose as her eyes  quickly shot open when she realised she wasn't in her bedroom anymore. Weirdly enough she was in her bed but in the middle of a forrest.

A thick blanket of fog covered the souring tree roots as everything became still around her.She jumped up from her bed  with nothing on her feet, but the hem of a long cream coloured gown that flowed to her ankles.

With panic rising Brielle took off running through the forrest as her dress fluttered behind her. Stopping suddenly, she came to a clearing and spotted a house. Maybe there is someone inside who can help, she wondered.

Running  further up to the door the fog started to lessen  when it dawned on her that  this was in fact her grandmothers house , which is in London. Confusion swept over her  as she twisted the  unlocked door handle  letting her self in.

Her grandmother Eleanor  was sitting in her favourite chair next to the fireplace with a young girl on her lap.Brielle knew at this point she must be dreaming or she has  finally lost the plot and has gone crazy.

Brielle's grandmother passed away  2 years ago so  seeing her so close and real hit Brielle right in the heart.  With her eyes glistening Brielle takes a step slowly in the direction of her grandmother.

"Granny?" ,Brielle croaks out still staring in disbelief. With her Grandmother not even acknowledging her presence she walks closer and tries again

"Granny! Can't you hear me ?! she sobs out.

"I miss you and I need your help,,,I,,I'm lost ".

Brielle wasn't talking about being lost in the forrest anymore, her life had taken a massive turn and she was now being backed into a corner by her parents.

It was like someone had pushed a pause button as the little girl and my grandmother where still as stone. Brielle gasps and takes  step back  when she realises the little girl is infact herself.

Brielle was about 4 years old here. The little girl had big blue eyes, rosy cheeks and a button nose.

Her hair was braided into two little buns on the top of her head, held together with two white bows. She had  small Mary-Jane navy shoes covering her frilly white socks, a baby blue dress with a white belt around the middle.

All of a sudden a giggle pierces through the air, followed by a soft laugh that belongs to her grandmother. Just like magic the pause had been pushed to play.

Brielle watches in shock and she leans against the wall of the lounge room.

"Grann-ey, can you please tell me that story again, about the witch and the magic girl who  can go back in time" young Brielle pleads.

"Oh love, of course I can" granny gleams with a smile that reaches her eyes.

"Only the first born daughter inherits this trait , which is,,, who?"Granny eyes narrow playfully down to her young granddaughter.

"Me!!" the young granddaughter chirps."

"Thats right my darling, don't ever forget how strong you are. You are worth so much".

Brielle is taken back by a large bang that is heard  from the front door.

It's her mother, except she is a lot younger here with less frown lines.  Her short hair has been let down and curled.

She is  wearing a white floral dress with nude heels and a pastel pink jacket.

With her arms crossed and her feet on a mission she scowls at her young daughter and her mother cuddled up to the arm chair.

" Brielle! Now hurry up ,you have your piano lesson, so go wait for me in the car" She demands.

"But Mother w-" Elizabeth's face became cold

" Right  Now !" . Young Brielle hops off her grandmothers knee ,

" Bye Granny " with her grandmother returning a soft warm nod as her little legs quickly made her way out the front door.

" You need stop with all of this foolishness Mother", Eleanor Crossed her arms and frowned  as she watched her daughter closely.

"I didn't come all the way here through this amount of time just so you could tell her those stupid stories". Elizabeth Screeched.

"Well unlike you daughter,my Brielle wants to hear these stories because deep down she knows she belongs there and one day she will go back to where she belongs!. You use to believe in love once Elizabeth and no matter how far you run , it will always catch up to you." Eleanor Bellowed out.

" I wonder how she is  going to do that".  A sly smile creeps up onto her face.  Eleanor's face drops in fear.

" What in heavens are you talking about Elizabeth?" Her Grandmother  blurts out.

" Oh my, didn't I tell you? now where are my manners" Elizabeth scoffs.

"we are Moving to Australia, Next year for good. Don't worry we'll send you a post card." The saltiness dripping  from Elizabeth's lips.

Brielle was watching from afar in complete shock. Black spots soon  take over her vision until she is surrounded by darkness.

All of a sudden she is jolted awake in search for a deep breath.

Gasping for air she wakes up. In her bed and in now her room.

"Oh my god ,it was only a dream" Brielle whispered.

She felt her cheeks and noticed she has been crying. Brielle looked over at the clock that read 1:50 am.

As if on cue, a  big  thump and crash was heard above Brielle's bedroom.

Suddenly up on her feet she turns on her lamp.

Maybe its just a  little mouse? or the roof creaking she told herself.

Curiosity got the better of her as she ascended up the staircase towards the attic.

When she opened the heavy  old wooden door she was surprised to see the light was already  switched on. Was someone here? .

"Hello,,? , Anyone up here?"

looking  around she saw nothing but a table at the end of the room with a big box  that had fallen to the ground.

Brielle tip toed over to the box  picking up a big photo album that had collected a thick layer of  dust. After Sneezing twice  she opened the book that showed old portraits of who she guessed where her late ancestors .

The woman in the picture looked quite young who had dark looking  wavy hair with beautiful deep set eyes,  high cheek bones and full lips. Brielle turned the page to find an ancestor who looked exactly like her mother but only younger.

The girl in the portrait could be no more than 16 years old.Brielle gasped in surprise  to see the girls  name was also "Elizabeth" just like her mothers.

That couldn't be just a coincidence could it ?.

A thin letter from a position within the book had slipped to the ground . It looked like a formal government document.

Turning the letter around  she was shocked to see it was address to her.

The envelope had previously been opened which was dated back from two years ago. She carefully opened the letter which read

" Ms Brielle Marie  Carter is to hereby inherit land and estate of Eleanor Victoria Harrison in consent by Will".

 Brielle's heart started thumping.

Anger was what she felt when she saw those words.

Her Mother  purposely kept this from her. Elizabeth told her daughter there was nothing left of her Grandmothers home as it was "sold" later that year.

She Lied to Brielle in effort to trap her in  the family business so she would how to marry Lorenzo.

For once in Brielle's life she had hope. Hope that this crazy marriage won't have to go ahead.

Once she reaches London, she will have a place to live and no one to control her life, Brielle will finally be free.

She could maybe get a small part time job and go back to studying to become a writer. She clutched the letter to her heart and ran down the stairs and back to her room.

She flipped open her laptop and started planning her escape to London.
