Chapter 4: We must do what we must.
(A few weeks after the previous chapter)
(Hiccups POV)
We must do what we must, something to live by I may say. Knowing that someone will eventually come for us, being prepared and alert is always good. When I say being always aware, meaning that who knows who or what will come for me or my family and friends. Whether it be an army with extremely powerful weapons or to another extraterrestrial attack. I have only encountered one race, the one that has caused death, destruction, chaos, and as well as our ban. Knowing these things, we must be careful and the most alert that we have ever been. Meaning that we keep a low profile, not buying a single thing, hiding our faces, turning off all communications with the outside world, and on the upmost, staying away from the city and our houses. With this in mind, we now have been living in the dense forest for weeks. We do not use any form that might be related to signaling, no smoke which leads to no fires. No more than the final scream that might come out of an animal before we kill it. Nobody knows where we have disappeared to, there are missing and wanted signs for our heads. The constant amount of Patroling officers has made everybody in the city worried, I know these things because I ventured a tad bit too far out of the forest. I have also heard chatter that the sergeant that helped us was killed for withholding information about our location. We will eventually come out to face the one who killed that sergeant and the person who made us who we are. If we do, we have to be fearless, and never, NEVER hesitate to do what is needed, even if it means killing someone. I know who did it, I know who killed the sergeant and the president...It was the one instated the ban on us hybrids, the current president, whose name I do not know. Recently, I have been seeing large amounts of metal being moved, and this isn't just metal, technology used for deep-space communication. Assuming that it is what I think it is, it can be very dangerous. Where these things were being moved to is at the South-Western part of the island, and this island isn't very big though. Our island is about the size of Rohde Island in the United States. I went southwest to go and check it out, and sure enough, I was right. They were building a giant communications tower and satellite, and to process the information, a quantum computer, which is a very expensive and very advanced piece of machinery. Learning this information, I decided to coordinate an attack soon, to be sure that everybody is ready and trained. If I think what that tower is going to be used for is true, this could be even worse than I thought it would've been. I was sitting on top of the tallest tree in the forest when Astrid came up to talk to me.
"I figured that I'd find you up here." She said.
"Why so? Because I'm always up here or that it has a beautiful view?" I asked.
"A bit of both, do you really, and I mean, really want to destroy that tower? You know what kind of weapons they have, they can kill us, the kids as well."
"I'm going to take that risk because if what I believe that tower is going to be used for is true, we could run the risk of being killed, and the entire earth as well. You remember what happened to me, I nearly died from the previous one, and if this comes true and they are more powerful than ever, we can be in serious trouble. Adding to that, I am the most powerful one here! I don't give a damn for what happens to me, I only care about what happens to you, our daughter, family, and friends, hell the whole entire damn plant! You care do you not?!"
"Of course I care! But I do care for what happens to you! Ever since we were 16, I knew that you were the one for me! You can never be replaced by anybody else! You heard me right, never! So please! If you do want to destroy it, please, be my guest! If you attack them, they probably already have a steady line of communication with them, if you attack, and the president is who I think it is, will send a distress call and then, whoever they have contact with will be right on their way to earth. You know that he is trying to rule the world, don't encourage him even more with this attack. I know that the next attack is going to be more powerful than ever, and I can assure that out crazy ass president will end up killing us all. If you are shot, and I know that it will end up killing you because it is the material that is all of our weaknesses. You know that our daughter has been raised without you for eight years, and I don't want that number to get bigger, so please call it off for my sake, for her sake."
"Well, I don't want a world that I have to raise our daughter in a world that is always at war!"
"Our would is always at war, and you know that too!"
"Do you think I know that? Why did you think I never came back? I knew, and I knew that you could raise her on your own. If I was there, things would've been worse then they are now!"
"How in the hell would it have been worse?! Things would've been better, she has been bullied for a couple of years now because you weren't here. I have been working, and working to keep a roof over here head, to keep her fed, and clothes on her back! You just don't understand it."
"No, I do understand that I just needed to see how everything would play out before I came back or keep myself dead to the world. I would've chosen to stay dead but no, I had to show myself to the world because of that bastard who killed the person who made us, and the person who murdered your parents!"
"So you coming back was all about yourself, I see now, you were worried about not being a good father!"
"What in the name of sam hell made you think that?! Did you think I would've gone over that before I decided to ask you if you wanted a child and got you pregnant!?"
"I guess that didn't occur to me, you weren't there for her birth! All of the memories we have had together, you wasted so much when you stayed in that hole in the water. Eight years Hiccup...For what? To get away from life? Or just to rule over the most mythic of all creatures?"
"I WAS TRYING TO PROTECT YOU! Yeah, that's right, to protect you! The reason why we were attacked was because of me. They were scared, scared of me, they knew that I had the power to destroy, eradicate their species. I went into hiding because it concealed my power. Off of their radar, my power signature, gone, never to be seen again. But now, since I am back, my power signature is back, and since that, it is back, they are alerted. Meaning that I am a threat to all being on the planet. Now you know. Now you know why I never came back. Go ahead, yell at me, hit me, something to get your anger out!" As I said these things, Astrid was looking at me with shock and tears in her eyes as if I just hurt her. Which I did, I hurt her without knowing that I did. The pain that I put her through when I was gone. She turned her back to me and fell to her knees sobbing, I turned around and just flew off in anger. I sought out that tower and the one who was running it, alone. The descendant, the one who's ancestor put the dragons in hiding. He was written as an enemy, and the one who I have to face, Grimmel the Second. The one who sought out help to eliminate my kind. Since I had reflective scales, I hid in the night sky, it allowed me to sneak in undetected. Grimmel sat in a chair, behind the computer, I uncloaked myself. I cleared my throat as I uncloaked myself.
"Well well look who it is, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third. The one that single-handedly defeated an entire species. All but one, me." Grimmel said as he was still sitting in his chair, looking at the screen.
"Hold up, you lost me when you said my full-full name, I defeated an entire species, but one." I said.
"Yes, all but me. I am the last of my kind, you killed my father, King Eliator."
"And you are?"
"Prince Dashner."
"I knew who your father was. He was the one who authorized the attack on my planet."
"My father was a hero. And who cares for your puny planet."
"First off, my planet isn't puny, second, your father was a murderer, nearly killed me, and killed millions and threatened the ones who I love. Your father was a nobody, but to you and your people, he was everything, and I understand that! I know I was a threat to your people, and I am sorry, I am no god. I am just a man, genetically enhanced by science. Now you must pay for your crimes, the murder of the sergeant, and the highest charge, assassination of the president, these crimes are charged with high treason, death. Now reveal yourself." I said as I created a plasma sword and he stood up and revealed himself to me. He started to chuckle.
"It's too late boy, the signal has already been sent, you are now on air. You kill me, you expose yourself to the world."
"This isn't about ruling the world, this is a revenge story. But now, the writer has run out of ink, which brings this story to an end, and your end as well." I said as I dashed straight at him, pulling my sword up to his neck, cutting his head clean off. I ran straight to the computer, attempting to stop the signal by running my custom tapeworm program, nothing. I destroyed the tower by blowing the thing up. Signal was still being sent, I attempted to stop with by destroying the computer itself. Pulling the hard drive out, and checking it and the message was successfully received. 'Shit' I thought, I crushed the hard drive in my hand. I fell to my knees.
"We are in the endgame now...." I said to myself. "It is now kill or be killed. The real fight is coming, the fight of our lives." I thought. I sat there, on my knees. Now that he is dead, no, eliminated from the face of the planet, we can come out of hiding for good. I hope. If we do, there is one rule. No powers, ever, unless it is an emergency. The footage of the assassination of the last alien of his kind, and the information of the next attack that is soon to come. I have been looked at by other people quite weirdly today, there are FBI agents around my house, I am not sure if they are here to protect me, which I doubt that or if they are to make sure that I don't screw up. Recently, I have been working with advanced radar systems to work in deep space. Along with that, I am the lead supervisor on a project that nobody will know about except myself and whoever is working on the same project like myself. Doing this is to give the army here a fighting chance against the next attack. I know that the next attackers are going to fight far harder than the previous ones. Using plasma, which I can produce, we are creating weapons that can deal some serious damage, and I mean serious damage. Cause they know what happens with just a sword. Whether it be from gun ammunition toa god damn nuke, we are souping it up. But, I am not just working on these things, I am training my family and friends. But just having troops on the ground, is a bit useless, so, I have been working on a prototype for the troops, well, Air Force pilots to be trained to use in the air. With this, we can have both air and ground units. This technology is new, using advanced robotics to mimic the wing of a dragon. But using this isn't easy, using the methods that they know wouldn't even get them off the ground. My family has been worried about me, like not eating, sleeping, and personal hygiene. It already smells like a sweatshop in there. But, before I left today, Skye ran at me, grabbing my leg and begged me not to go to work today.
"I have to go today, but, I will only be there for a few hours, I will be back to spend some time at home today. I promise." I said as she stood up to give me a hug, as well as Astrid coming out of the kitchen to give me a hug and a small kiss on the cheek. I set Skye down and I walked to my car and went off to work.
"Alright! Guys today, I will only be here for a few hours, I have family matters that I have to deal with today, so, let's be productive today!" I said as they all nodded and walked over to their stations. I went over to the weapon station to check on what they have done.
"How's the progress over here?" I asked.
"So far, so good, the core does seem stable now, and it is ready for testing, but, from past experiences, we do not want to harm the holder by testing its power, so we ask if you fire it." He said as he put the Plasma core in the weapon and prepared it for a test fire.
"This seems like a light weapon, is this a single beam or is it individual blasts?"
"Individual, but can be set to a beam."
"Let's give it a test run. CLEAR!" I yelled firing the weapon at a target made of solid steel, nothing was left when the smoke disappeared. Effective but troublesome, the kickback is immense.
"So, how did it feel?"
"Effective, but troublesome, when I fired it, it has come immense kickback, so tone down the power a bit cause this could be a problem for the one holding it."
"Tone down the power. Got it." He said as I set the weapon down without its core and I walked over to the armors to give it a check.
"With the armor, how is it looking?" I asked.
"Uh, good, good, the durability seems reasonable. Its protection against Ions is quite good, but, it does break after about a few hours in battle." The lead designer said.
"Interesting, a few hours may not be enough for what we are facing, so, we might want to change to a different material like, maybe dragon scales, like my scales, they shed like CRAZY." I recommended.
"For that solution, the outcome would be increased tolerance and lighter armor. Why didn't we think of that?"
"I am not sure, maybe because you didn't know about the scales? It seems perfect to me, let's implement it." I said as I walked over to the wingsuit area.
"So, progress on this? Any bugs or advancements on it?" I asked.
"More bug than advancement, we have a timing issue." The specialist said.
"Define the timing issue."
"Well, the timing from the brain input to the output to the wings. It has a delay of about 100 milliseconds."
"With that timing issue, there could be a significant decrease in power, what are you guys using to capture that input?"
"We decided to have a small microchip to sit by the spine where it picks up the small charge that it has, which it captures that command and sends it to the wings."
"Try a direct line, straight from the brain, put the microchip right under the skin on the head. If that works, the delay will decrease significantly."
"That might work, we need to test it."
"Well let me know if it does work."
"Alright!" The specialist said as I walked away to the training area for the Flight cadets for the wingsuit.
"COMMANDER ON DECK!" One cadet yelled and they all stood as straight as a pencil, hands by the side of their hips.
"At-ease." I said as they moved their hands behind their back and spread their legs out a bit, relaxing the back.
"So, you guys are the ones who I have to train to help me save the world. Do you know what that includes? To fly with me, like me, This isn't flying your F-18s or your F-22s. No, this is flying like a dragon, your methods won't even get you off the ground. You ARE the dragon in this situation. You make the commands and you execute them with your body. You've seen how I fly, how fast I fly, how maneuverable I am. You don't have a cockpit to sit in, you don't have a canopy to shield your eyes from the wind. The wind is in your eyes, constantly making your vision clouded, dealing with tremendous speeds. Massive amounts of Positive and Negative G's, near to the point of killing you. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE DANGERS OF FLYING THIS WAY?!" I yelled.
"SIR YES SIR!" They all yelled in unison.
"GOOD! I don't want to see or hear any of you moping about the ones you had to leave behind to join me. You are the United States Air Force, you came from halfway across the world, you are in my territory. We have 14 days until they come. You saw what they forced me to do save your soft asses. Senior Airman Wrigley."
"SIR!" SrA, Wrigley said bolting up.
"How do you achieve getting off of the ground flying as I do." I asked.
"From what I have seen in the footage, you crouch down and produce one big wing flap."
"Yes, that is correct, but, having the strength to pull off that one flap, that is a bit harder to find. So, today you will learn how to find it, harness it, and then apply it. Which is quite difficult, it took me a good amount of time before mastering it. But, these wings are not going to be like mine, meaning that it is apart of your body, the bones, and muscles that I have are going to be mimicked by technology, so that means you won't be able to have these forever, but they can be removable, mine however cannot. To control these wings, you have to think you have them, when you do so, a small microchip in your head will pick up on that command, and it will be sent to the wings for its output. But then, there is the tail that I have, which also provides control and stability, without the tail, it will be just wings, and you know how that works out. Not very well right. So, you have to learn each tail position that provides your control. It can allow me to do very high speeds with very minimal interference, but it can also provide extremely sharp turning at high speeds, doing this, your body is taking all of the strain, so, we have armor that is made out of the scales that I have for reinforcement and it also works as the pants you have to wear in your jets to keep blood in your head. Do you understand?"
"SIR YES SIR!" They all responded.
"Good, now, I have a simulator that recreates flying as I do. Meaning you have the full arsenal that I have. Swords, knives, guns, shields. All of that junk, and it has my speed and maneuverability. But, with this, we don't touch for a while, for now, you need to study the tail positionings and the physics behind the flying. At the end of this, there is a final test that has trails for pain, endurance, agility, speed, and attentiveness." I said as I dropped down the projector screen to teach the physics behind it.
(A few brutal hours later)
"For tomorrow, I will start on the advanced flight maneuvers and weaponry. I have to go home, and you need to rest. Now go!" I said as I walked out of the room and went to my car and started to drive home. I was exhausted and was ready for some coffee, a nap, and some TV. As soon as I got home, I flopped onto the couch and turned on the TV, when they heard that I got home, Skye ran out of her room, over to my couch and laid by my feet, then Astrid came out of the kitchen and laid on top of me. Skye just stayed out of our way and fell asleep on my feet. Astrid fell asleep after a few minutes, I guess that means that I am a human body heater. A few hours went by, and a couple of episodes were watched. I slipped out from underneath Astrid and Skye, whispered into Astrid's ear, "I love you..." and I walked out the door, flew off into the very night sky itself, which was beautiful. But that wasn't the purpose of flying off, I flew off to meet someone, who I haven't seen in years. His name bearing power, one that not many have seen, my mentor, the one who betrayed me...Ohasus...
_______________________________________________________
DUN DUN DUNNNNNN! YES! I AM NOT DEAD! Just lazy as hell. It has been about 9 months since the last update to this book. It seems like there is someone who trained Hiccup during those eight years that nobody knew about. Not even myself. I drafted this with a pen and paper. I had to translate chicken scribbles to this up here. My handwriting is so dang bad. Another attack is coming I see. More powerful looks like he is training people to assist him. Anyways! I hope you guys did enjoy this, it legit took a few hours to translate. I have one chapter for "Truly Alone" in the making, I think I have a chapter planned out for my original book, "College mates" and I have a small draft for the next chapter of this book that I might scrap, not sure yet.
Thanks for reading this.
