Michael's POV- A week later.

I haven't seen Kathy in a week.  Well, I have, but when I do see her, she looks away, rolls her eyes, or walks away.  I don't know what I did.  She won't even talk to me.  She always says harshly, “Go talk to Daniel.”  I finally just decided to let her be.  Plus, I'm pissed, because every time Daniel is around, she makes out with him in front of me! What kind of shit is that?

It's around 1 pm and Kenny and I have walked back and forth for hours.  I think it's time to let him off the collar.  I go to the starting point and yell,

"I'M LETTING HIM OFF HIS LEASH. STAY CALM!"

People's eyes widen.  I let him loose and he stares at me.  I start backing up.

"Come on, Kenny."

He takes a step toward me. Then another, then another.  People watch in awe.  Then, someone sneezes.  It distracts Kenny.

"Hey, Kenny!"

Kenny looks at me.  I've lowered myself to make him keep his eyes on me.  I take a step back.  He takes a step forward.  Crap.  He wants to play.

I laugh. "Kenny...not now."

He licks his chops.  He thinks he's intimidating me. I shake my head.

"You wanna play right, now? Really?"

He does a small hop and lowers his head, but has his butt in the air.  I stand up tall and say,

"Take you best shot!"

I hit my chest with my fist.  He jumps and tackles me.  We fall to the ground.  I start laughing.  My laughter weakens my strength.  He overpowers me and ends up on top.  I tap his paw twice. I sputter,

"Get off me Kenny."

He hops off and sits down. I get up and say, 

"You won."

I stretch my back.

"You're heavy also."

I point at the starting point. Kenny goes there. 

Finally after a few tries, he walks the yard without me by his side.  I watch Kenny as he walks over the Kathy's pool.  Oh no.  Kenny jumps in.  Everyone gasp.  I go over to Daniel, who is in awe, and I ask,

"Is that cool, that Kenny does that?"

"Yes. Yes. That's just amazing."

I nod and look over at Kathy, who is standing in the doorway of their backdoor.  I smile.  She rolls her eyes and goes inside.  What was that about?  Is she regretting last night?

"Daniel, is, uh, is Kathy ok?"

Daniel, who  is still watching Kenny, says,

"She's all upset about the singer who bailed on us. We have to hire a new one now."

A idea bloomed in my mine.

"I, um, can sing."

Daniel looks at me and laughs. "We need a professional."

"I'm really good. You haven't even heard me yet!"

"You're serious."

"Yes, I know."

"Well, let's go find out how good you are!"

I nod.  I whistle and Kenny gets out of the pool, shakes the water off and follows me.

"He can come in?"

Daniel smiles and says, "Yeah."

We walk inside into their living room.  There's a white grand piano near the fireplace.

"That's a beauty."

Daniel laughs. "What? You can play the piano too?"

I nod. He step backed surprised.

"Really?"

"Yes, really."

Daniel bows and points his hand at the piano.

"There it is."

I shake my head and go over to the piano.  I take a seat.  Kenny sits next to me.  I look at Daniel and he has a weird look on his face.  As if he just came up with the best idea.

"What?"

He shakes his head. "Nothing, just play."

I shake my head and look at the keys.  I take a deep breath and pop my knuckles. I begin to play.

"Mmm...yeahhh...I'll reach out my hand to you, I have faith in all you do...

I'll reach out my hand to you, I have faith in all you do... Just call my name and I'll be there...

Just let me feel your heart with joy and laughter!! Togetherness girl its all I'm after!!

Whenever you need me!! I'll be there!! Ohh, I'll oh I'll be there..."

I stop and look at Daniel.  He has the biggest smile on his face.  I then notice Kathy behind him near a plant.  She looks at me in awe.  I stare into her eyes.  Daniel turns and sees Kathy.

"Babe, wasn't that beautiful! We can hire him!"

"I..I don't know."

"What? Babe we don't need to go looking! We have one right here! Plus, Kenny could sit next to him while he plays. That's golden!"

She shrugs her shoulders.

"Daniel, let me talk to her."

"Yes, please convince her, Michael."

Daniel leaves the room and I walk over to Kathy.  She looks into my eyes.  Before I say a word she slaps me.  I hold my cheek in shock and say,

"What the hell?!"

She whispers, "How could you!"

I whisper back, "How could I what?"

"Daniel told me women were all over you last night and you were drunk!"

That son of a bitch! Why the hell did he say that?

"That's a lie!"

"Why would he lie to me?"

"Because he...he cheated on you last night."

I had to. I had to.

"What?"

I heard Daniel heading this way.  I grab Kathy's hand and ran out the door, followed by Kenny.  I told Kathy to get in the van and she did.  I open the back doors and let Kenny jump in.  I close them and get in the van.  I start it up and speed out of their driveway.

"Where are we going?"

"We need to talk and we can't there."

"So you kidnap me?"

I laugh. "I didn't see you refusing!"

She holds back her smile. I need to tell her everything.  I don't like holding in secrets that could hurt someone.  It's time.
