Bitter
After the masters had left, Po made his way out of the Sacred hall of Warriors and asked some of the palace geese if they had seen Zhen over the past few days. One of them told him that during her lunch break, she had seen Zhen angrily storm past a few villagers closer to the bridge. Po thanked them and quickly made his way down the Jade Palace stairs. He kept an eye out for Zhen, but had trouble finding her through the crowds of villagers, even with an original location and asking the former thieves if they had seen her. Eventually he bumped into Li who was on his way to help out someone with house repairs and was told Zhen had stormed into Mr. Ping's restaurant over an hour ago. Po thanked him and ran over to the restaurant where he found Zhen sitting forlornly at a table with a cup of tea. Upon hearing him, she glanced up and her face immediately formed an angry expression.
"Hey, there you are!" Po exclaimed. "What's going on?!"
"Nothin' that would concern you," Zhen snapped irritably. "Aren't your little master buddies waiting or have a nice long chit chat about the crazy stuff going on in their province?"
"They left a while ago. I've been looking for you!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Look, I get it. You got a reputation to keep. But I ain't gonna' be a part of your little checklist, okay?"
Po gave her a weird look. "What are you talking about?"
Zhen slammed her cup on the table in protest. "I said leave me alone, you overfed fuzz-bucket!" she snapped.
Mr. Ping poked his head out from the restaurant counter. "Hey!" he yelled over. "Just because I serve you tea doesn't mean you can insult my son!"
Zhen rolled her eyes and aggressively got up from the table and stormed out of the restaurant. Confused, Po called after her again about what was wrong, but still got no answer. He ran to the front entrance and yelled, "Zhen! I can't help you if you don't tell me what's going on!!!" But there was still no answer to the question and Zhen soon disappeared down the street and into the crowd. Confused and perplexed, Po just sighed and decided to let her cool off...whatever had made her mad...and try again later. He went back up to the Jade Palace and resumed training with the five, but Zhen still didn't bother to show back up which made Po a little concerned.
"What am I supposed to do?!" he lamented after dinner was served. "She was doing fine, and then we plan this big meeting and she acts like I insulted her!"
"I'm guessing she hasn't cooled down yet?" Crane figured, seeing that Zhen's spot was empty.
"No. I just...I thought we were making progress and now I don't know what to do! What did I do?"
"You didn't do anything wrong," Tigress promised him. "I'm sure she'll calm down and have no problem explaining herself."
"I hope so. She just gets so snappy."
"You're also very sensitive to other people's feelings and take too much of it on yourself. Nothing personal."
Po just sighed and went back to eating dinner.
"Speaking of personal," Viper piped up. "I was thinking over Master Hun's offer and it sounds like a perfect opportunity to help expand peace up into the north, not just in the local areas."
Po looked at her in surprise. "Wait, hold on!" he exclaimed. "You're actually thinking of leaving?"
"I haven't settled on anything yet, but I have been thinking about it."
"All of us have," Mantis added. "Especially since you're going to probably take on new students who can help protect the valley, and that lets us use our skills better somewhere else."
Po blinked in surprise but then said, "But...you guys can't just leave!!! The whole reason the valley is the way it is is because you guys are around."
"You're around too, Master Po," Tigress reminded him. "And you're the one whose staying to be the valley's enlightened teacher. You can't keep training the same people for the rest of your life."
"Yeah, but...what if I get more students like Zhen?! How am I supposed to train people who won't listen to me?! That'll be impossible!"
"I think once you get over the challenge of training Zhen you'll feel more confident," Viper promised. "We can stay to help if it'll make you feel better."
Po took a deep breath and stood up with a sigh, taking his not-yet-empty bowl with him. "No no, it'll be fine," he said in a very strange tone that meant he was clearly stressed and irritated and trying his best to maintain composure. "Like you said, I'm the new great dragon teacher. I should be able to handle this by myself. And no one should hold you guys back from a great opportunity."
"Po, you're doing it again," Tigress warned.
"Doing what? I'm fine! I'm just...very tired and taking my food with me in case I get hungry later and need a midnight snack. See everyone tomorrow for training. Or I guess I should say I'll see Zhen for training since you guys will probably all be busy packing."
And with that he absolutely left the room and left the furious five sitting awkwardly at the table.
