Chapter 3.

Red puddles

Wizards aren't necessarily rare, its common after one dies another is born immediately, some even say that it's just the same wizard being reincarnated to a new life and body. Besides all that, the day wizards are born they are immediately marked with black ink, signally a new leader of that soul trait…..

“Bla bla bla…..bla.”

“Language.”

“I didnt even cuss this time!” Kindness said but was quickly hushed by the man in orange, the smaller green soul and the taller orange soul had made themselves at home in the library, mostly Bravery who happened to drag Kindness along just so he wouldn't be alone. Kindness isn't as into books as the rest, she rather more interested in exploring the castle, and finding Perseverance at the moment.

She was curious to what Perseverance was up too, especially with all the commotion that went on a week ago. Everything had been so quiet since then, too quiet to be considered normal.

Kindness sighed in slight boredom, she glanced over at bravery with a somber expression as she found him distracted by the words written on the pages of old books, perhaps centuries old.

Kindness took a small glance at the door, she knew Bravery was distracted so perhaps she could try leaving. Smiling at the idea Kindness put down the book she was “reading”, and quietly stood up, pushing in her chair as she did so. Bravery continued to read without a single word as Kindness exited the library

Justice was in the training room, trying to work off some stress. She had been over thinking for the past couple of days and getting angry. She doesn't mean too, but the lives of many where lost multiple times and perseverance had the audacity to do a plan on her own. She was beyond outraged. She knew she should try and keep a clear head tho.

“Stupid...Just..augh!” Justice mutter to herself, she quickly loaded her gun while running. She ducked and used the small pieces of wood to cover herself as she looked over and fired at the training target. She hit it in the middle and stood up quickly.

Within an instant another gun was in her hands and without a second of hesitation she fired at the targets hitting them all in the middle, “You can't just make that sort of decision on your own!” Justice growled and continued to shoot at the training targets till she realized that all the training targets were basically demolished by how much she shot them.

Justice looked around for a moment, seeing at how much she overdid it on the training targets. With a sigh she collected her thoughts, walking to a nearby table and placing her weapons down.

“I'm going to confront her about this.”

Small quiet footsteps echoed in the empty hallway as each step she took made her look around for anyone nearby. After a couple of more minutes of more walking Kindness loosened up and walked normally, looking into the hallway. She looked over to the many paintings of past wizards that used to run this place, it was all history now, so it didn't matter to her.

Soon the empty hallway ended to a small door that was locked. Kindness cursed to herself, she didn't have the key and she knew no one would give it to her, not to mention if she did get in she'll have to deal with perseverance’s guard.

But in all honesty.

She was going in.

Kindness glanced around for a moment before grabbing the lock and pulling out a small blade from her boot. She fiddled with the lock for a few minutes or so before a ‘click’ was heard and the lock opened.

Kindness smiled to herself in victory and opened the door, setting down the lock near the door for her to put on later. She looked behind her once more before stepping down into stairs. She stayed on the side of the steps to make sure that no noise was heard. After a while she finally made it down to a dimly lit hallway with very few torches.

She let out a sigh and began making her way down to Perseverance’s room. She noted how quiet it was, it was somewhat scary if she was honest. Perseverance’s room isn't far but Kindness walked slow, being careful. She knew there was Perseverance’s personal guard here but he didn't seem to be around.

Though it was dull, Kindness could spot Perseverance’s door. Smiling to herself she walked forward but instantly stopped hearing a small ‘splash’ underneath her. Kindness looked down to the dark floor with confusion, tapping her foot and hearing the same sound again.

“What the…” She looked over to a nearby torch and grabbed it, pointing it down to the floor, “Oh my gosh…”

She backed up covering her mouth as the light revealed a puddle of blood and a small trail leading to Perservernce’s room. The small trail of blood looked as if it was from a body being dragged, making Kindness back up more.

Her first thought was that Perservernce had been injured. Thinking quickly, she thought about running to the rest but a cold hand stopped her.

“Kindness what are ya doing here?”

Kindness jumped at the sudden voice and turned around to see a familiar skeleton standing behind her.

“Kindness?” Red said and looked to the smaller wizard, “Whatcha doing here shortie?”

“I'm not short, just vertically challenged.” Kindness muttered and put the torch away, “I just wanted to see Perservernce. It's…..been a while, I'm worried.”

“She's fine,” Red said and began leading Kindness back up the stairs, “She's working on that project…? I'm not sure.” Red explained and looked to Kindness.

“Oh...alright,” Kindness sighed and thought for a moment before looking to Red again, “Hey, one of the servants said that they still have Perservernce’s food waiting for her, I would bring it to her, but I'm busy.” Kindness lied with a small smile.

Red sighed and shook his head, “Could've sworn I gotten it already,” Red said and looked to Kindness, “I'll be back, stay out of Perservernce’s room okay?” Red said and started making his way down the hallway.

“I will!” Kindness hummed and went down to another hallway but only hid behind the corner, waiting for Red to completely leave.

“Just what exactly are you doing?”
