Chapter 46: The Sixth Hokage

"Hokage-sama," An Anbu said, closing the giant door behind him. "Your father is here to see you." The grey-haired teen nodded. The door opened to reveal Kakashi Hatake, his shinobi headband covering his now empty eye socket.

"Heya Naruto, how's the new job going?" Naruto smiled at his father's presence.

"It's not too bad. So, how's the new Genin team going?" Kakashi sweatdropped, causing Naruto to deadpan. "You failed another team?"

"Yeah, heh heh heh, you know me." Naruto sighed and took out a few papers and began writing.

"I'm just going to take you off the sensei roster if you don't mind." Kakashi smiled under his mask.

"Ah, yes, please. That way I can keep reading without interruptions." Naruto glanced up, his grey eyes filled with amusement.

"Why don't I just take you off the shinobi roster then? It'll make things easier." Kakashi's eyes sparkled.

"Will you really? Please?! Give me a Sannin's pass so I can go discover the wonders of Icha-Icha under Jiraiya sama!" A bead of sweat dripped down his face.

"You're serious, wow, okay fine. I hereby dub you Sannin of Konoha and give you a free-roaming pass whenever you so wish, see ya." Kakashi smiled at his son before ruffling the Hokage's hair, getting a small growl of protest.

"I'll visit often, or just send Pakkun I don't know. Anyways, I gotta go pack, love ya." Naruto smiled under his mask.

"Love you too," And that was the day Kakashi's dream was fulfilled to freely become an actor for the new Icha-Icha movie adaptations.

It's been about two months since the short Civil War that Konoha had and after a week of debating, Naruto was to be Fugaku's replacement as Hokage.

There were a handful of Uchiha left, mostly those who were still loyal to the village and not Fugaku, which were very few, but those few were spared. Now, Sasuke Uchiha was the Clan Head of the Uchiha, and he sported new Eternal Mangekyou eyes.

The funeral for everyone who perished in the attack besides the enemy, was a day after Naruto was appointed Hokage, and everyone who lost someone openly wept except for Naruto, who only looked on with sadness.

He lost a close friend that day, but he had to move on and be strong for the people of Konoha. Everyone lost something, he was not alone, so he had no right to complain.

Naruto looked outside the window and was pleased to see that most of the village was restored. He then sighed and sat back down at his desk.

He was the second youngest Hokage in history, the first being his own teacher, Hiruzen Sarutobi. He was seventeen, and Hiruzen was sixteen when they were elected Hokage.

But he wasn't the youngest Kage in history, that title belonged to Gaara of the Sand, being placed as Kazekage at the young age of fifteen.

He was interrupted from his thoughts when his secretary, a young woman named Ryoko, who had poked her head out from the doors, spoke.

"Hokage-sama, the ambassador from Sand is here to see you." She called out. Naruto smirked under his mask and nodded to Ryoko.

"Send her in, thank you." Ryoko smiled at the thanks he gave her, glad to be appreciated before she opened the door wider, revealing Temari of the Sand, her traditional fan on her back and Naruto's old sword on her hip.

"Hello Temari, it's been about two months hasn't it?" He said politely, gesturing her to take a seat. Temari nodded, taking the seat graciously as she folded one of her legs over the other.

"Ah, yes. You said we'd talk and catch up after the so-called Civil War you had, which, by the way, wasn't really a war but more like a one-sided battle in my opinion." Naruto smirked at that comment but continued to let her speak. "But we've both just been so busy as of late we haven't had the chance." Naruto nodded.

"Yes, I did say we would catch up didn't I? Why don't we go somewhere less," He glanced around the room and saw the four pictures of the four Kages, Fugaku's picture not being there because well, no one liked him very much. "Formal? I guess." He laughed awkwardly, making Temari smile.

"Sure, but don't you have, um, duties to fulfill as Hokage?" Without making any hand seals, Naruto created two shadow clones that began working as he stood up from his desk.

"Yep, but I don't have to be physically here to get stuff done, come on, we have a lot to talk about." He opened the window of the office before looking at Temari. "Ladies first,"

"You have a door for that you know," She said, on the edge of laughing. Naruto looked at the door and shrugged.

"I do, but, I never really had fun when was little, not childish fun anyways, and I kinda want to experience it." Temari crossed her arms under her bust, lifting them up a bit, but Naruto tried his best not to activate his Sharingan to memorize the scene.

"You're an adult now," She chided lightly. "You should be doing adult things."

"How'd you know I'm an adult as of today?" He asked her curiously. She rose her eyebrow.

"What do you mean?" He let out a soft chuckle.

"Well as of today, I'm eighteen-years-old!" Temari's eyes widened in shock as she comically fell the floor. "What?"

"I just, I thought that, but how!?" She ended up shouting. Naruto took a single step back, holding his hands up at the state the blonde was in.

"Uh, what?"

"HOW ARE YOU ONLY 18?!" She ended up shouting, causing Naruto to shut his eyes.

"Uh, how old did you think I was?" He said. The righteous fury of a woman was something he did not want to experience.

"I thought you were my age?!" Naruto deadpanned.

"And how exactly old are you?"

"I'm 21!" She shouted. It was Naruto's turn to look at her in shock.

"But you look so young!"

"Thank you!" She shouted back. She stopped for a second and looked at Naruto seriously. "Wait a minute, that means when we first met, you were like twelve or thirteen right?" He nodded. She deflated instantly, the color from her face draining. "Damn, I was shown up by a kid." Naruto felt a tick mark appear on his forehead.

"Who are you calling a kid?! I'll have you know I whooped almost everybody's ass during that Chunin Exams, including you!" The two glared at each other before they began laughing. Temari climbed through the window soon followed by Naruto, leaving the clones to do the work.

"Those idiots just forgot about us didn't they?" The other clone nodded, but they did the work anyway.

"So wait a minute, even as your other personality, Kioku, you still beat me?!" Temari practically shouted in the middle of the street, getting everyone that was watching to take a step away from the irate blonde.

"Yep!" Naruto exclaimed, popping the P. "I'm pretty strong no matter who I am." He said cheekily, getting Temari to hit him in the head.

"Idiot. . ." She muttered.

They had been walking around the village and talking for about two hours, catching up and explaining what they've been doing for the last four or five years. They had gone out to eat just a few minutes ago as well.

They kept walking in silence together, just enjoying each other's company before they found themselves standing atop of the Third Hokage's head on the Hokage Mountain, which was the first thing Naruto had fixed.

"It's been good, getting all this stress off my shoulders for a little bit, today was fun," Naruto said as he looked at the setting sun. "Hope I didn't bore you too much," He said jokingly as he sat down, patting the ground beside him as Temari accepted the offer graciously.

"Not at all, you're pretty interesting Naruto Hatake," She replied easily, leaning on her two hands.

"And you as well Temari of the Sand," Naruto turned to Temari and admired her beauty, a soft smile under his black mask. Temari looked over at the grey-haired man and saw his gaze and immediately blushed.

Teal eyes met grey as they felt an unconscious force slowly bring their faces close together before their lips met.

And for some weird reason, the moment their lips connected fireworks exploded in the sky outside of the village, making the moment all the more magical.

He brought her closer to him as he deepened the kiss, his hand caressing her cheek.

The two didn't notice a smirking fox from inside of the seal that was on Naruto.

"Heh, you did good kid, and here I thought you wouldn't have a happy ending. I'm glad you didn't take my chakra either, you are my father's son reincarnate though, so it's to be expected."

Kurama closed his eyes as he laid his head on the ground, the sewer he once sat in for multiple years was now a blooming forest, and for the first time since he was sealed.

He was content.

And as was Naruto Hatake.
