Chapter 45: The Finale

The fight between Naruto and Itachi, something that was inevitable since the moment the two descendants of Indra Otsutsuki met, began the moment the two prodigies met.

And now, the true battle was beginning.

Sparks could be seen coming from the two black blurs as they fought against each other using just kenjutsu across the village. Sasuke could barely follow the movements of the two godlike shinobi, the fact that they were going so fast that they crossed the entire destroyed village in a matter of seconds not helping very much.

Itachi did a single hand seal as he was on top of his father's destroyed carving on the Hokage Mountain before blowing out a fireball as big as a quarter of a village at Naruto, who easily used his Rinnegan to suck the chakra out of the flames, making it disappear in under ten seconds.

Then, Naruto made his own set of hand seals as he suddenly rose in the air on a pillar of earth as he crossed his arms.

"Itachi, why don't you just kill yourself? It'll be easier and save myself the trouble, you're not stronger than me." Itachi smirked before his body was enveloped in an orange chakra.

"I have no doubt you're stronger than me, Naruto, but, when I die, I will take you down with me." The Totsuka Sword shot out as the orange Susanoo grew legs as Itachi was now the size of the mountain he stood on.

"You killed Haku with that sword," Naruto commented. "So for showing me that again, I'm going to make you pay." Naruto made a few hand seals before slamming his hand onto the pillar of earth, and a bright yellow scorpion with Rinnegan eyes appeared on the side of the pillar, the size rivaling one of the larger toads that Jiraiya could summon.

"Interesting, what else can the legendary Rinnegan do?" Naruto smirked.

"I have every intention of showing you, but my patience is quite thin so I plan on defeating you quickly." He held out his hand and a burst of gravity came from his palm and hit the Hokage mountain with a force of well. . .a thousand mountains.

The faces of the Hokage's were now nonexistent, the only traces that they had ever been there was the large crater that Itachi was now standing on within his Susanoo and the rubble that had fallen to the ground, destroying multiple houses, killing many different Uchiha and Sound Ninja alike, along with some of the Zetsu and Root Anbu.

Sasuke looked at the fight with wide eyes, suddenly feeling very inadequate as a shinobi. It was completely one-sided. He knew Naruto had so much more under his sleeve, and Itachi had been barely keeping up as it was, if Naruto were to go all out, Itachi would be dead in seconds.

"Is he. . .a god?" Sasuke whispered to himself breathlessly as he watched Naruto destroy the Hokage Mountain with relative ease.

Naruto glanced at the scorpion below him and pointed his finger at Itachi, willing the large animal to jump off the pillar of earth and going to Itachi, who brought his Totsuka Sword up and slashed the scorpion open, the summon disappearing in a large cloud of smoke.

"Is that all you have?" He questioned softly, talking to himself. Then, a figure from the smoke emerged, revealing Naruto with his sword drawn, the blade using lightning to extend to unimaginable lengths as he swiped down, hitting Itachi's Susanoo head, and to Itachi's dismay, the supposed impenetrable barrier cracked under the force of the lightning bolt.

"Die!" Naruto shouted as his arm suddenly turned into a cannon that then shot out a ball of pure chakra, making the crack spread even further. Naruto flipped through the air, dodging Itachi's sword mid-air as he practically floated, gliding before he landed on Itachi's Susanoo head, surprising the Uchiha.

"Come out come out Itachi! I have something to show you!" He shouted as he punched the Susanoo, using the Deva Path of his Rinnegan, giving him the necessary power behind his arm as he smashed through Itachi's Susanoo, causing the black-haired shinobi to fall to the ground, just barely being able to land on his feet.

Naruto landed gracefully about ten feet away from Itachi, his Rinnegan glowing ever brightly.

"You destroyed my Susanoo, I didn't think that was possible." Naruto tilted his head to the side, feigning innocence.

"Then this next part is gonna blow your mind," Itachi was about to attack, but felt two different fists punch him in the back and in the face, making him fall to the ground.

"What the-" He began, but was cut off as he felt himself being stomped on, a crack echoing from his back. "Agggh!" He let out a small shout of pain. He glared at Naruto. "What is this?!"

"Oh, I guess I'll call it Limbo. You see, I realized as a natural user of the Rinnegan, I had a bit more perks than what Pain had. This," Itachi was suddenly kicked across the crater, disrupting the dust on the ground. "Is Limbo. I can wield two at a time right now, but it's just two clones of mine that you can't see, nor detect."

"Naruto," Itachi began, blood erupting from his lips, a smirk forming. "You forgot about something,"

"A dead man's last distraction, how revolting," Naruto commented as he walked forward, his sword sparking with lightning.

"Don't' you know? The silent snake always gets the kill." Naruto was confused for a second but his eyes widened as he felt a sword slide through his chest, and he began coughing up his own blood almost immediately.

"Ah, it seems disappearing into the ground made you forget about me, eh Naruto?" Orochimaru said with his sickly sweet voice. "I'll make sure your eyes are used to their full potential."

He took the sword out of Naruto's body and kicked the boy to the ground, a grin on his face.

"This sword is coated with a special poison made for Jinchuuriki exclusively. It prevents the demon inside of them from healing their wounds, it's quite useful in my opinion."

"Naruto!" Sasuke shouted as he appeared within the crater. "Earlier, you asked me when I've ever seen you truly happy!" Naruto's eyes trailed up, the blood coming off his chin, making a pool of blood under his head.

"When you were fighting with me when we were younger! When you were hanging out with Neji, Tenten, and I! When you finally met Haku! When the Third said she'd be able to live with you! With your daughter and friends as Kioku! That's when you've truly been happy!" He shouted passionately. "So don't you dare just die! You have to be happy again!"

Naruto's eyes widened at the revelation.

He was right. Sasuke was right.

He has been happy. And. . .

He wants to be happy again.

"Oh would you shut up?" Orochimaru spat. "I'm tired of all that sap and I haven't been here longer than five minutes." He looked back down to Naruto and stabbed the boy in the back again, causing him to grunt in pain.

"NO!" Sasuke screamed as lightning enveloped his hand as he charged the snake Sannin, only for the said Sannin to easily deflect the lightning and kicked Sasuke away. "Sorry Itachi, but your little brother is an annoyance, I think I'll harvest his eyes and study the body of an Uchiha if you don't mind," Orochimaru said, his own Sharingan spinning as he got excited.

"You keep your hands off of him!" Itachi shouted, but could not move, groaning in pain. Naruto's vision got hazy as the poison went through his system, his eyes barely making out Orochimaru approaching a fallen Sasuke, who was trying to back away from the Sannin.

"S-Sas-uke," Naruto whispered as Orochimaru was now on top of Sasuke before his vision went completely black.

He found himself in an abyss. The darkness of his mind being everything that he could see and nothing more.

"Oh," He heard a tiny voice say. "Hi," Naruto sat up and saw a much younger version himself standing there.

"Hello," He replied awkwardly.

"Danzo-sensei would be disappointed in us." Another Naruto said, a little bit older than the other one, a borderline emotionless facade on his face.

"You're letting a piece of trash like Orochimaru kill us?" Another Naruto said, this time he was in a blank Anbu mask, his Sharingan activated, peering down at the oldest one, his head tilted slightly. "But we're stronger than him."

"He caught me by surprise." Naruto tried to reason, only to be slapped by a Naruto with his Mangekyou activated.

"You should've killed him with the rest of the Akatsuki, you've grown arrogant." Naruto frowned at the sight of him. He had a fresh deep cut on his eye.

"Who're you to talk? You lost to Shisui AND Itachi!" He yelled, only for a hand to grab his shoulder.

"Heh, but that's okay, right?" He looked over his shoulder and saw Kioku, black hair and everything in the Iwa attire. "We wouldn't have met Ellie or our big brother if it weren't for them."

"They killed them both! They killed Bee, Ay, everyone!" Naruto shouted, tears running down his eyes. The littlest Naruto walked up to the present Naruto, and all the other Naruto, including Kioku, turned to mist and they merged into the little boy.

"That's the past, and there was nothing you could do to stop them," He whispered, a kind smile on his face. "And wouldn't they want you to keep living? Fighting to stay alive so they can live in your memory? Don't you want to leave feeling as if you weren't worthless? That you avenged everyone? That you accomplished something?"

"I," Naruto hesitated but looked down. "I can't. It's too late, I'm basically already dead." He felt the small hands on the tiny Naruto cup his chin and look up, and he connected his forehead to his.

"It's fine. Whatever happens, we can do it, right?" Naruto felt tears stream down his face with more intensity than before. "I mean, we broke the cracks of reality, I think we can beat down that Sannin."

"I'm so sorry," The bigger Naruto said inbetween sobs. "I'm such a failure, I can't do anything right." The younger Naruto smiled sadly at him.

"Yep, but we can fix it." He stood up and looked at the older grey-haired boy. "I just want to spend time with dad, remember that Christmas? When we got the kunai? That was the best point in my life. I'm only six, but it was still awesome. I miss dad, a lot. Can you tell him that?" Naruto stood up, towering over his younger self.

"I can." The younger Naruto grinned, eye smiling under his mask.

"Great! Now go kick some ass!" And like that, the little boy turned to mist and merged with Naruto.

The true Naruto Hatake was back.

Naruto stood up, his dull eyes no longer dull, a new shine and light now replacing that dullness. He pulled something out of his back pocket, and let a small smile break upon his features. He put on his old mask and was glad to see that the fabric still fit his face.

"Orochimaru," He said softly, his Rinnegan activating. "Get away from Sasuke," He put his hand up as the Snake Sannin whirled around, shock running through his veins before he was pulled towards Naruto, his throat ending up in the teen's hand.

"H-How the hell?" Orochimaru got out, ineffectively kicking Naruto in his shins.

"Goodbye, Orochimaru." He then proceeded to take the soul out of Orochimaru before the Sannin's body fell with a thump. He banished the soul to hell as the black soul disappeared with a snap of a finger. He then turned to Itachi.

"Sorry, Itachi, but this is the end of the line for you." Itachi was shocked.

Not that Naruto recovered, or that he killed the Sannin so easily, no, he was surprised by the fact that Naruto didn't have an ounce of hatred in his voice. He sounded completely at peace.

"How?" He asked weakly. Naruto walked up to Itachi and the teen didn't say anything.

"Naruto!" He heard a voice shout, but it wasn't Sasuke. He turned around and saw Kiba panting, scratches and cuts littering his body. "Sand is here! They've come to help!"

"So Zetsu completed his other mission, great." He sent for them a day earlier, knowing that a large force couldn't cross the desert in just a few hours, and he was pleased that they were right on time.

Zetsu then appeared in front of Naruto, a smirk on the white man's face.

"It wasn't easy to convince them," He said. Naruto rose an eyebrow.

"Then how'd you do it?" Zetsu grinned devilishly and looked up at the top of the crater, causing Naruto's eyes to follow.

"Holy shit," Temari said with wide eyes, looking down upon the Hatake. "Naruto?" He nodded. "HOLY SHIT!" She screamed as she jumped up and landed on top of the Hatake, tears going down her face. "They said you died!"

Naruto patted her back, internally screaming, his face red with embarrassment as Zetsu laughed at him openly.

"Temari," He whispered. "I still have to kill Itachi, then beat the rest of the traitors of the Leaf, then we can catch up, okay?" Temari stood up, composing herself quickly as she wiped the tears away.

"Yeah, sure, sorry." She said quickly, a healthy blush on her face. Naruto eye smiled at the blonde.

"It's fine," He began walking forward to Itachi, who was awaiting death patiently. Temari then spoke up, practically yelling.

"Wait!" She shouted as she unsheathed the sword, revealing Naruto's old sword, the one he gave her during the invasion. "Here's your sword, never had the chance to give it back," Naruto looked at the sword, feeling quite nostalgic about the sword.

He then remembered the fight she had with Kioku, and she had gotten quite good at it. He eye smiled again.

"No, keep it. You've gotten a good feel for it, it'd be a waste to give it up now." Temari was about to protest, but Naruto was already heading towards Itachi once again.

He bent down on his knees, his elbows resting on said knees as he looked down at the defeated Uchiha.

"Itachi, I will not be taking pleasure in killing you. I thought I would, but this is no longer about revenge, it's about the village's safety. You betrayed my home and I cannot allow that to go unpunished. Rest assured, Sasuke will be getting your eyes." Itachi nodded, expecting no less.

"Can you attempt peace, Naruto?" Naruto shrugged.

"If it comes around sure. Though, it's highly unlikely." Itachi smiled as he closed his eyes.

"That's all I need. Tell Sasuke I said goodbye." Naruto nodded.

"Okay, goodbye, Itachi Uchiha." And with one quick swipe of a kunai, Itachi was dead, his throat slit. Naruto turned around and clapped his hands, surveying the damage that he had done to his village.

"Welp, let's get to rebuilding!"
