Chapter 35: Life
"You, you don't really mean that, do you?" Kioku stuttered, looking at the man with a mix of fear and confusion. "You can't be serious Hokage-sama, do you know how many people would die?" Fugaku laughed a little, standing up and hunching over his desk, his black eyes meeting Kioku's grey.
"Of course I'm serious, do I look like the type to kid around?" He whispered with barely contained venom in his voice. "I have plenty of blood on my hands, what's not a few more gallons?"
"You're insane," Kioku commented, taking a few steps back. "To declare war on all of the shinobi nations, you must be." He turned around, but was eye to eye with none other than Shisui Uchiha, who held a stoic expression. "You. . ." He whispered.
"Ah, so we meet again, Kioku." Shisui commented, punching the teen in his gut, making him fall to his knees. "The last time we talked is when I killed the Raikage and his pet correct?"
"Don't you dare-" Kioku began but was quickly silenced with a quick kick in the face, knocking his whole body to the ground.
"Silence yourself in front of your betters," Fugaku said, now in front of the desk. "A dog should only speak when told to bark." Fugaku then crouched down on his knees, lifting up Kioku's head by yanking on his hair before putting his Mangekyou activated, spinning rapidly. "Kotoamatsukami," He whispered, but he frowned when nothing happened, only to instantly back up as Kioku's Mangekyou automatically activated, preventing the genjutsu from taking affect. "Those eyes, you," He turned to Shisui, obviously enraged.
"You told me he was dead!" Shisui saw Kioku's eyes and shrugged.
"Look at him, Hokage-sama," He responded, stepping on the back of Kioku's spine, slowly putting pressure on it as Kioku groaned in pain. "Naruto Hatake is dead, and at the time, I believed he was dead, even if it was not of my doing." He quickly took the sword off of his back, ready to plunge it into Kioku's head.
"Allow me to make up for my mistake, and I will purge Kioku, formerly known as Naruto Hatake, from this world." Fugaku nodded.
"If there is any chance Naruto still lives in that body, then we have to stop it before he can disrupt everything I've worked for." Kioku struggled a little.
"No! I'm not Naruto! I'm Kioku! You don't have to do this!" Fugaku laughed a little.
"You were going to die either way, I don't let people know my plans and let them walk back home you know." Kioku's eyes widened in horror. "Do it."
"As you wish." Shisui said, ready to bring the sword down upon Kioku's head.
"I wouldn't do that as of yet," A dark voice said, making the two Uchiha in the room to turned to see a figure dressed in an all black cloak with red clouds scattered across the surface, with a blank orange mask with a single eye hole in it. "He still has information you could have about Iwa." Fugaku faltered, realizing the man was right.
The two were acquainted, the masked man belonging to the Akatsuki, being the leader from the shadows and manipulating Pain. The Akatsuki had helped them a lot during their conflict with Kumo, and if not for them, they would not have gained as much ground if they were without help.
"He does, doesn't he." He muttered.
"I won't tell you anything! You'll have to kill me first!" Fugaku laughed a little before standing up completely. "Shisui, take him to the dungeon, put him in the cell in front of his father." Shisui bowed and immediately grabbed ahold of Kioku before vanishing in thin air. Fugaku turned to the masked man.
"I'm curious, why'd you stop us from killing him? We could've just took another Iwa ninja while they were on a mission to give us information." The masked man looked outside the Hokage's window.
"Kidnapping an Iwa ninja is already hard enough since they usually travel in large groups as of now since the war started between you and Kumo. It is rather convenient to have one come knocking on your door is it not?" Fugaku couldn't find any fault in the man's logic before sighing.
"I guess so." The masked man then looked at Fugaku.
"There's also a plus, you have another Mangekyou eye at your disposal. I'm sure that your left eye is nearly blind. So, in order for him to know you mean business, take out one of his eyes, and then you're problems fixed. Also," The masked man chuckled a little, finding his next sentence entertaining. "Don't you want to here the boy's screams? After all the trouble he's caused you?" Fugaku let a twisted smile come across his face.
"Yes, that would be fun."
"Why are you doing this?" Kioku cried out, being shackled to the wall. "I haven't done anything wrong!" Shisui ignored the boy's protest, quickly finishing the fastening of the shackles before he began to leave. "Answer me!" He shouted. Shisui stopped walking and turned his head, meeting eyes with Kioku's.
"Well, the Hokage ordered me to," He paused for a second. "And you killed Itachi, so this will make us even." Fugaku walked into the cell, nodding at Shisui.
"You are dismissed, Shisui. Go home and rest, as soon as we extract the information from his skull, we march for Iwa." Shisui bowed before disappearing. Fugaku smirked before walking towards Kioku.
"Now, on the topic of removing things from your skull," Kioku's eyes widened as he saw Fugaku's fingers go for his right eye.
"No, what are you doing?! Don't! Stay, stay away from meeeeee!!!"
"AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Pathetic," I voice sounded out as Kioku found himself free from his cuffs, now in a space where everything was completely blank. "I was beginning to think that life would be better if I didn't come back. But I was wrong, wasn't I?" Kioku looked up, and saw a different version of himself.
He was definitely smaller than him, with grey hair and Sharingan eyes, dressed in a black hoodie with the sleeves cut off, his right arm being covered in bandages with regular black shinobi pants and and a sword on his back.
"You're Naruto." Kioku stated, knowing for certain that this was the boy who was the source of all his problems. Instead of replying to Kioku's statement, Naruto just sat down, propping his arms up on his knees as he looked at the ground.
"I haven't been happy for a very long time. And when I watch you, I feel jealous slightly. But, in the end, I realized that I was now you, and I was no longer me. And, we were happy. With Ellie, Kurotsuchi, Akatsuchi, and gramps and everybody. We were finally able to experience joy, and when I realized that, I just wanted to keep living in this blissful life, with you awake and me asleep, I wanted to keep living the dream that was Kioku." He then looked up at Kioku, meeting his eyes.
"But now, I realize that this is all it was, a dream, nothing more, nothing less." He got up, walking towards Kioku, grasping the older teen by his collar and yanking him forward. "So just let me wake up and you can go to sleep." Kioku pushed the younger teen of of him, breaking free from his trance-like state.
"No, I don't want to sleep. This is my body! You're a Leaf Ninja! I'm a Rock Ninja! I won't betray my village!" Naruto laughed a little bit.
"You ignorant piece of trash." He said, glaring at him, twisting his head to the side a little bit, peering into Kioku's soul. "They knew who you were from the start, I'm famous ya know. They took advantage of the fact that you had the Sharingan to increase their strength as a Ninja Village.
"Shut up!" Kioku yelled. "They would never do such a thing!" Naruto then broke into a full out laugh.
"Of course they would you idiot! They're ninja! Their literal jobs is to deceive and use things to their advantage. Admit it," Naruto appeared behind Kioku, whispering into his ear. "You know I'm right."
"No, it's not true!" Kioku denied quickly. "I trust them completely and unconditionally. They helped me when I was being possessed by you! They helped me get through Akatsuchi-nii's death! They helped me more than you ever did!"
"Hmph," Naruto said, looking at Kioku disdainfully. "I'll leave you to the mutts then." And just like that, the blank space around Kioku dissolved around him and he was back in his cell, and in front of him, was a wide eyed Fugaku, a slight craze in his eyes.
"And this is for all of the Uchiha you killed during the invasion." Sixteen cuts came across Kioku's stomach simultaneously. "This is for turning the Sand against me," He stabbed Kioku in the leg, the blade peering out from the other-side of his leg, causing the teen to let out a scream of agony.
"And this is for not dying when you were instructed to die!" A large gash appeared on Kioku's forearm, splitting it open so to see the flesh and blood pouring out.
"AAAAHHH!" Fugaku sighed, a grin on his face as tears flowed down Kioku's face as he stood there, wiping the blood off the blade with a rag that was stained in blood.
"I'll let the demon heal you up for a couple of hours and went I become stressed again, I'll just cut you some more, just to see how many scars I can put on your body before you eventually die." And like that, he was gone.
"This is a new low, even for Fugaku." A voice came from in front of Kioku, coming from another cell. "Torturing a kid for shits and giggles. What a monster." Kioku slowly looked up, not being able to see out of his right eye, and his left eye was seeing nothing but blur.
"W-Who are y-you?" He managed to get out, blood seeping out of his mouth as he tried to speak. A small chuckle was heard before the man spoke again.
"Heh, my name is Kakashi Hatake. I've been here for total of four years, coming up on my fifth." Kioku's single eye widened a little in surprise of hearing the last name of the man. He spit out the blood in his mouth, trying to be able to speak clearly.
"Are you r-related to Naruto Hatake?"
"Can we not talk about my deceased son please? It's kind of depressing." Deceased son?
"Naruto isn't-" He paused, realizing his words would only sadden the man further. "Never mind, I'm sorry for your loss." He couldn't tell him. It wouldn't be right if he did so. "My name is Kioku."
"Nice to meet you while you last. Fugaku doesn't let his toys last for too long, the only reason why I'm alive is because he enjoys watching me suffer in my isolation, which I shall continue now. Bye." And after that, Kakashi didn't speak anymore.
Kioku struggled against his restraints, but to no avail.
'I have to get out of here.'
And done. Was it good? Bad? Tell meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
