Chapter 34: Wind vs. Lightning

"I'm going to ask one more time," Kioku said slowly. "Are you absolutely sure, that you want to spar against me?" Temari grinned, taking out her large fan as she looked at the teen in front of her, sweat going down his cheek.

"Hell yeah, are ya scared or something?" Kioku froze for a second before a mischievous smile came across his face.

"Scared? Sure," He laughed a little as he took out his kunai, a small jolt of electricity going through his veins. "But not for me!" He then dashed towards her, leaning in close to the ground to make himself a smaller target as she got her fan ready.

"Some arrogance you Rock Ninja have hm?" She blew a quick wind jutsu at him using her fan to enhance it, but he suddenly disappeared in a flash.

"You know," She heard a voice say from behind her. She whirled around, ready to hit the boy with her fan, but found no one there. "I'm quite strong." This time, it was above. She looked up and saw Kioku free falling towards her, his kunai now spitting out electricity like a hose does water, except, instead of falling, the electricity just spread across the blade, making a blade of electricity.

"What in the hell?" Temari muttered as she jumped back, avoiding the black haired teen as he smashed into the ground, causing the dirt to fly into the air, masking everything in sight with the brown dust that was in the air.

"Hmph, thinking this'll slow me down?" She muttered before swinging with her fan. "Don't insult me!" Kioku was blown back by the wind, tumbling across the ground before he stabbed the dirt with his kunai, making him hold still til the wind died down.

"Impressive. You're not weak, I'll give you that." Kioku commented, causing Temari to smirk. "But," He drew out his sword slowly for dramatic effect as a smirk came across his face. "You're a long range fighter. If I get in close enough," He suddenly appeared behind her, the shadow clone that was talking poofing away. "You'll be useless!"

"Uh uh uh," She mocked him as her smirk never disappeared, a small sword at his neck. "It's quite the opposite, close range is my specialty!" She went to kick him, but his sword suddenly sent an electric wave throughout the air, shocking her as she fell to the ground, her small sword falling out of her hand. Kioku looked at the sword with curiosity.

"Woah, this sword is cool, can I-"

"Don't touch it!" She yelled as she grabbed it quickly, holding it close to her. "Sorry, but, a person I once knew gave it to me to protect my family, and he died." Kioku took a few steps back, shock plastered across his face.

"S-Sorry," He said quickly. "I was just curious." Temari sighed standing up.

"It's fine. I didn't mean to snap at you the way I did. It's just that. . ." Kioku smiled sadly at the blonde.

"It's fine, I also know the pain of losing one close to you." He then let a grin slip across his face. "But we should always try to forget such pain, it doesn't do us any good. As long as we don't forget them completely, everything will be alright." Temari looked at him with shock.

"Y-you really believe in that?" She felt anger bubble up in her system. "You believe that bull shit?!" Kioku's eyes widened as she glared at him. "You can't forget the pain, you just learn how to deal with it. Trying to forget that pain of losing someone, it, it isn't right. It means that you don't want to remember the good times that make you hurt!" She ran forward and delivered a sucker punch to his jaw, causing him to be knocked flat on his back.

"That just shows how stupid you are!" Kioku held his jaw, his thoughts going miles a second.

"To forget means no more pain. I don't think you realize my situation, Ms. Temari," Tears began running down his eyes, causing Temari to look at him with wide eyes.

Akatsuchi, his past, his friends, gone. Taken away from him. Always painful in the end. His psycho outbreaks, everything. It was always so painful to remember.

"I'd rather feel nothing, then pain. I'd rather forget the good times if it helps take away the bad times. Do you know, what it feels like, to not know what the hell happened for the first thirteen years of your life? It all being blank? I do. I'm seventeen, I think, and these past four years here have been great. But the fact that there's a chance that I'm from somewhere else, that I could have a family," He sat up and smiled, tears going down his eyes in a steady river-like fashion.

"It's so scary and painful at the same time." Temari took a step back, not expecting this emotional outburst from the raven-haired boy. He laughed a little, wiping the tears away with his sleeve.

"Heh, look at me. I'm being a crybaby when it was just a sparring session, don't I just feel stupid?" He joked, standing up as he did so.

"Well, I think I won this spar, I'll see you later, Temari-san." He said before he began walking away.

"Wait!" She called out, causing him to turn around, raising his eyebrow. "What you just said, you, you don't have any memories of your past?" He shook his head sadly. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to spit on your beliefs or anything, I just get really passionate when it comes to something I believe in strongly."

"That's good, never lose that. If you don't for what you believe in, then what's the point in fighting at all?" Temari nodded, laughing a little.

"You're a lot wiser than you look." He shrugged.

"Thanks for the compliment, you aren't dumb yourself." He grinned at her. "Maybe we'll meet again someday."

"Likewise, Kioku-san." He waved goodbye to the Sand Ninja before disappearing in a black flash. Temari stood there for a second before scowling. "Damn, he got out of showing me around the village!"

"Can we beat him?" A little boy with grey hair asked an older boy with grey hair, who had a Mangekyou Sharingan in his eyes.

"I don't think so," He replied softly.

"He's stronger than us. The strong devour the weak in this world, that's just how it is." Another boy said, just a tad bit shorter than the older one, but this one had a regular Sharingan in his eyes with a blank mask on.

"Danzo-sama said the same thing." An almost emotionless child said as they peered at the battle going on before them.

They were all Naruto Hatake.

"We have to beat him!" The littlest one shouted, his grey eyes shining with determination. "If we don't, then we can't see dad again!"

"Or Haku."

"Or Sai-senpai."

"We won't be able to watch those Uchiha bastards burn."

"I won't be able to fulfill my promises to everyone." The oldest Naruto said, a single bloody tear going down his right cheek from his eye.

Kioku looked at the four grey-haired boys with shock. Who were they? He took a step forward, but his boot caused a large echo to ripple throughout the blank space they were occupied in, and all four Naruto's looked at him.

"Who the hell are you?"

Kioku woke up sweating in his bed, panting slightly.

"That was just a dream, just a dream." He reassured himself. He groaned as he thought of what mission he'd have to start today.

Flashback

"Gramps, you have to be joking." Onoki sighed, massaging his temples slowly. He knew that'd be Kioku's first reaction, but he didn't know of anybody else with his mindset that could pull this mission off.

His mission: Negotiate a treaty with Konoha.

Flashback end

Why he was selected for such a mission, he didn't know. All he knew was that he was going to the place that was responsible for his brother's death, and his friend's death. Would he be able to keep control of himself?

That didn't matter now. What mattered, was his mission. He kissed a sleeping Ellie's forehead, knowing Kurotsuchi would take care of her in his absence before he left.

"Gramps," Kurotsuchi growled out, causing the old man to sigh. "Why on God's green earth would you send Kioku of ALL people to Konoha? You know that's where he's from! What if he remembers?" She shouted.

"So what?" Onoki fired back. "Are you suggesting I keep Kioku this way for the rest of his life? You know it's cruel to keep away someone's past. He could have parents or siblings and he doesn't even remember them, how would you feel?" Kurotsuchi's anger died down and she was left sad and somber.

"I, I just don't want him to leave us. . ." She whispered. Onoki's eyes widened.

"You love him. . ." He breathed out before he began laughing. "You love Kioku!" Kurotsuchi's face turned red immediately when she heard those words and began sputtering to deny it.

"I do not!" She shouted. "Why would I ever love that blubbering idiot!? He's sarcastic, dumb, and he rarely thinks of himself, always putting others first!" She realized the last thing she said and she deflated almost humorlessly. "But, he's also sweet, kind, and caring." Onoki smiled at his granddaughter.

"I approve of your choice, he's going to be a fine man one day."

"Is it bad that I hope he doesn't remember? Even though it's selfish, is that so bad to wish?"

"Halt! Who are you and what are you doing here?" A man dressed in the normal Chunin attire asked in a rough voice, stopping Kioku from entering the village. Kioku pulled out a scroll, handing it the Chunin.

"To negotiate the terms of the treaty with the Hokage on behalf of Iwa." The Chunin crinkled his nose in disgust at the mention of Iwa but didn't comment further on it before handing the scroll back to Kioku.

"If you try anything, we will be sending your body back to Iwa in pieces." The man's eyes shifting to the Sharingan. Kioku stopped a smirk from coming across his face.

"I'm quite harmless I promise." He said, giving his best innocent smile he could muster.

"Hn, we'll see." The obvious Uchiha said before waving off Kioku, dismissing him. He walked through the village, and for some reason, it looked. . .wrong.

It was busy and all, but the people's faces, they were gloomy and depressed, not a single ounce of happiness was on their faces. Even the children looked unhappy, which was quite the opposite of what it was like in Iwa.

As he walked, he heard gasp coming from the crowds of people, along with whispers. He marked it up to him being from Iwa, and since they have had a bad history ever since the 2nd Great Shinobi War, he thought they were just holding grudges and surprised to see an Iwa ninja in their village.

He felt sorta uncomfortable with all the gazes around him. He was used to it at home, but this was not his home.

"Naruto?" A voice said, barely being a whisper, but it was enough that the whispers stopped almost immediately, causing the silence to be loud. He slowly turned around, and there was a tall woman, around his height with red ruby eyes and long, wild black hair with a dress made of what seemed like bandages on. "Is that you?

That name. Naruto. He was told by the Hokage that he looked like someone he used to know, so why was this stranger saying a name that should have no relevance to him.

"I'm sorry ma'am, but my name is Kioku if you were talking to me, that is." He said uncomfortably. The woman's eyes lowered as if she had made a crucial mistake before they were back up and burning with a passion.

"No, unless you're wearing a henge in our village, which you are most definitely not." She pointed at him, a smile on her face with tears in her eyes. "Then you are Naruto Hatake!" Kioku took a step back, the brave declaration disturbing him.

"I'm sorry, but you are mistaken. My name is Kioku and I live in Iwa with my daughter. I've never seen you in my life." The woman fell to her knees, grabbing handfuls of dirt.

"No, you have to be, there's no way that, no," Then, the same woman from a couple of months ago that he met in the alley came beside the woman, her hand on her back.

"I'm sorry, Kurenai-sensei, but he speaks the truth. You must face it," Her brown eyes were hardened and devoid of any emotion. "Naruto-kun is dead."

"B-But he looks so much like him Haku! He looks like he would be an identical twin!" The woman named Haku looked at Kioku with a glare.

"Leave before you cause even more of a fuss, she was having a good day today too." She trailed off. Kioku quickly bowed.

"I apologize for not being the person you hoped I would be." He said before he quickly began running in the direction of the Hokage Tower, not wanting to feel the looks of the people anymore.

"You see?" Haku spoke softly, rubbing Kurenai's back gently. "Naruto would never bow and apologize, he'd just say grow up." Kurenai hugged Haku, tears still running down her eyes.

"I'm sorry, thank you. I know you miss him too."

Kioku nodded at the receptionist who had told him to go into the Hokage's Office. He slowly walked in before bowing to the Hokage, who was facing in the different direction of him, looking outside the window.

"Ah, it's you. The old man sure has a twisted sense of humor." He turned around, signaling Kioku to rise. "Hello again, Kioku."

"It's a pleasure to see you again Hokage-sama." Fugaku Uchiha waved off the formal greeting before a small smirk set upon his face.

"So, you've come to negotiate a treaty correct?" Kioku nodded. Fugaku nodded.

"Yes, but you see, I'm not really into peace all that much. There's only one peace I truly look for and that. . ." He trailed off, grinning at Kioku who looked at the Hokage with fear in his eyes. Fugaku's Mangekyou activated as it began spinning wildly.

"Is total domination of the Five Shinobi Nations!"

And done. How was it? Good? Bad? Tell meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Or I'll never update again. Hmph.
