Chapter 13: Sign
"Sensei. . ." Sasuke said uncomfortably as he looked down at the slip of paper in his hands, a similar paper in both Haku's and Naruto's hands. "Chunin Exams? Are you sure we're ready for this?" Sasuke was still getting used to calling the Hokage 'sensei', especially after his mother hit him on the head when he addressed the Hokage as such.
Hiruzen smirked at the Uchiha's question.
"Of course I'm sure, I wouldn't have recommended you all to take the exams." Naruto felt a grin come across his face.
"There'll be a lot of strong Genin participating, and it's our turn to host this year, isn't it?" Hiruzen nodded, pleased at Naruto's knowledge.
"Indeed. I hope you will all make me proud." Haku felt a smile grace her pink lips.
"We won't let you down, Sarutobi-sensei." She spoke in a determined voice, causing the old man to let a warm smile cross his face.
"I know you won't."
Flashback
"You what?" Kurenai said in a loud tone. "You can't just take two of my students off my team and declare them as your own!" Hiruzen rose an eyebrow.
"It seems you have forgotten who you're talking to, Kurenai." He said in an even tone, causing Kurenai to freeze as she looked at the elderly man before her. He was the Hokage, she was a newly promoted Jonin. A big, BIG difference.
"But, Hokage-sama," She protested, all of her will to fight back died as he looked into her red eyes.
"No buts, Kurenai. You are to train Sakura, she is your apprentice now. Team 7 is disbanded, it's place taken by Squad A. Kurenai looked at Hiruzen in shock.
"Squad, A?" She asked. "What does that mean, Hokage-sama." Hiruzen only chuckled before taking a quick breath of smoke.
"All in due time, Kurenai, all in due time."
Flashback End
"The Chunin Exams. . ." Sasuke muttered as the three Genin walked down the street. "Who would've thought that we'd be in the Chunin Exams?" Naruto snorted, a small smile on his face.
"That's the wrong question, Sasuke. The real question you're looking for is why the hell does the Third Hokage want to train us?" Haku smiled at that, but remained silent.
"Well that's obvious," Sasuke replied, a smirk plastered on his face. "We're just that awesome." Naruto chuckled, shaking his head.
"We're not really Sannin level yet, but we'll get there, one day." Sasuke's face lit up as he remembered something.
"Oh yeah! Nii-san wanted to teach me how to summon crows today after training!" He waved, a smile on his face as he ran off. "I'll see you guys tomorrow." Haku stopped walking.
"That reminds me, I must go as well, Naruto-kun. I met a girl named Hinata who was very nice, and she wanted to have lunch with me." Naruto nodded, his hood coming back up.
"Cool. It'd suck if I was your only friend." He joked, only to get punched in the arm by Haku, who sported a small smile.
"Oh shut up," She said before waving. "I'll see you at the house tomorrow." Naruto waved before he began going on his merry way, not caring where he was going.
"Talking to myself, because it's fun," Naruto began, a small smile on his lips as he kicked a small rock in front of him. "Talking to myself and won't stop til I'm done."
"Oh, you'll be done soon, Hatake!" A dark, dangerous voice came from behind him. Naruto turned around, only to see that blonde girl from earlier, Temari, standing there in front of him, her fan out.
"That's not very polite." Naruto commented, getting an annoyed look from Temari, who crossed her arms. "Didn't your parents ever teach you manners?"
"My mother died giving birth to my baby brother when I was 3, and my dad is a douchebag who wants to control said baby brother as a weapon. So no, haven't really had time for manners." Naruto shrugged, not really caring.
"Well, I can't say I'm sorry, since I didn't do anything to you, but that sucks." He responded carefully. He wasn't sure whether this girl was strong or not, so to just rush in blindly and talk trash, wasn't wise.
"My brother has been muttering about you. I can barely sleep a wink," Temari commented, glaring at Naruto as if it were his fault she wasn't having a good nights rest. "He was watching us, when you broke up that squabble my stupid little brother started, he wants your blood, and if he doesn't get it soon, well, Konoha won't be standing for too long."
Naruto threw his head back and began laughing, unsettling Temari as she was ready to take the fan off her back at a moment's notice.
"Y-you think I'm scared of," Naruto began laughing again, clutching his stomach. "Of your little brother?" The laughter stopped and he glared at her, his Sharingan activated, staring deep into her soul. "Now why the hell would you think that?" Temari took a step back, every fiber in her being telling her to run, just like if Gaara was going on a rampage.
"You probably think you're doing me a favor, telling me that your brother wants to kill me, or maybe you thought you could take some sick pleasure in seeing my horrified face when you told me a monster would come drag me down to hell?" Naruto took a step forward, and Temari held her fan out, ready to release a wind jutsu if need be.
"Well guess what? I'm not afraid of your little brother. If he wishes to get my blood, he'll have to prove it. Prove that he is worthy of my time." And like that, Naruto pulled his hood back up and began walking away, only to stop when Temari spoke up once again.
"He's stronger than you think!" She squeaked out, causing Naruto to stifle a small laugh at her nervousness to speak to him. Where had all that bravado gone?
"Ms. of the Desert, since I don't truly know you're last name, Gaara of the Desert is nothing short than a small obstacle in my way to becoming Chunin. I do my homework, I know every boy, girl, man, and woman taking this stupid test, shit, I might know that kid better than you do." Temari's eyes widened in fury.
"How dare yo-" She began, but was cut off as a sudden wind made her stop, and Naruto was no where in sight.
"Tell your little brother this," Naruto whispered in her ear, a small smile on his face. "Don't chew off more than you can swallow. Cause trust me, I'm have a big serving size." Temari's face lit aflame at the hidden implication and went to smack Naruto, but only met air.
"Damn pervert!" She muttered before walking away. If the boy wanted to die, it wouldn't be on her conscience.
Who cared if he was cute?
Time Skip
"Was it successful?" An old, short man asked as he hovered off the ground as a man stood over the body of an unconscious shinobi.
"Yes Tsuchikage-sama, Experiment 28 is a success." The Tsuchikage, Onoki, felt a small smirk come across his face.
"Good work, Dr. Senge, you're the only one who knows how to do and undue this, correct?" Dr. Senge nodded, a smile on his face. Onoki nodded, pleased.
"Good." He quickly took a kunai out of his sleeve and sliced the man's throat. "Nothing personal doctor, but I can't risk anything." Onoki stated nonchalantly before looking back down at the unconscious shinobi before him.
"With you, we will bring Konoha to it's knees!"
And done. How was it? Good? Bad? Telll meeee!
Anyways, got one more chappie with character development before the 1st Exam starts, and as for the pairing?
I don't know. I honestly, don't know. And I'm NOT doing a harem, because that just never works out for me. Ever.
So, yeah.
Til next time my lil demons!
