~Ashley's Pov~

I woke up to someone lightly shaking me, I opened my eyes to see Carl "Good morning" He said. His hand still on my shoulder "Hey Carl" I said with a smile "Hey" He replied, He leans down and gives me a small kiss, I kiss back "Keep it PG kids" We look over to see Merle laughing "What do you want Merle" I said as Carl helped me up "Accept my apology" He said. I looked at him in the eyes. "Merle" I said to him, He looked at me I rolled my eyes "Fine, But next time i won't." I said. He smirked and left "What an ass" I mumbled under my breath.

"Ashley, Why did Merle bring up your mom?" He asked. I looked at him "Do you really want to know?" I asked. He looked at me "Daryl told me, How... she died in a fire" He said. I nodded "Yeah" I said softly. "He brings up mom because he knows that my father use to bring her up... Saying it was my fault.... Every time he beat me" I said. He looked at me "But it wasn't your fault Babe" He said. I looked at him "I know, I know it wasn't.." I said. He hugged me "I love you" He whispered to me I smiled "Love you too" He placed a kiss on my head "Ashley?" I heard someone call me, I stayed in Carl's arms "Hey love birds" I turned around to see Daryl smirking at us I smiled and looked down.

"Need my sister for a little" He said, I let go and walked over to Daryl, "Have ye seen Merle 'round?" He asked. I looked at him "Yeah, not so long ago actually, why?" I asked. He looked at me. "Just wanna talk to him, Help me look for em Yeah?" He asked. I nodded "Do i bring my gun?" I asked. He nodded I went to get my gun and my knife. "Lets go to the tombs he might be there" He said. I nodded. We started walking further in the tombs, I heard something clinking, I looked at Daryl, He nodded and we walked towards it. "Merle" Daryl called out as we got closer to the room.

"Merle? You down here?"He asked again. Silence. The clinking continued, He raised his Crossbow, I raised my gun. "Merle?" I asked. Silence. We walked towards the room. I looked in to see Merle. I lowered my gun, "Why don't ya never answer." I said annoyed. He chuckled "What the Hell" Daryl asked looking at the tables "I was just about to holler back at ya" He said, He looked at me, Daryl started to walk over to him but he blocked his way "What you doin down here?" Daryl asked "Just lookin' for some Crystal meth" He said. I looked at him, he stared back. Daryl sighed and walked back over to me "Yeah Yeah i know, shit messed up my life when everything going so sweet right?" He said and laughed, Daryl looked at me and gave me that 'Don't ask look' and he looked back to Merle "Have you talked to Rick yet?" Daryl asked Merle.

He looked at me "Yeah oh Yeah im in, But he aint got no stomach for it, Hes gonna buckle ya know that right" Merle asked. I walked over to the door and leaned on the wall "Yeah, If he does he does" Daryl said. I stayed quiet. My father use to beat me when i interrupted him. So i just kept my mouth shut and looked at the floor.. My brothers would never do that but it's just a habit now..  "Do ya want him too?" Merle asked "Whatever he says goes." Daryl told him, Merle scoffed I looked up.

"Man. Do you even posses a pair of balls little brother? Are they even attached? I mean if they are. Do they even belong to you?" He asked, I looked at Merle "Merle shut up" He looked at me and walked over to me. "What did dad tell you about interrupting?" He asked. I looked at him but stayed quiet.         

"Merle." Daryl called out to him but he didn't look back at him, he stared at me and smirked. He raised his hand and i covered myself but Daryl stopped him by grabbing his arm "Don't you even dare Merle." Daryl said  He pushed him and Daryl stood in front of me. He laughed "What happened to you little brother" Merle asked.  I stayed behind him. Not daring even to open my mouth. "What Happened? What happened to you and Glenn. What the hell is your problem. Trying to hit your little sister? What happened to you Merle?" Daryl asked protecting me.

"I've done worse. You need to grow up. Things are different now, Your people look at me like I'm the devil... Grabbing up those love birds like that huh? Now ya'll want to do the same thing i did, Snatch someone up 'nd deliver them to the governor, Just like me." Merle said. With that i walked out of the tombs leaving my brothers in silence. I didn't want to stay there and just listen to them fight. I hate it... 

I went to my cell and sat against the wall, I played around with my knife. Dragging my knife on the floor. Leaving scratches on the floor, I heard footsteps coming up the stairs but i didn't look up. I knew it was Daryl. "Ya Alright?" He asked I didn't say or do anything i kept playing around with my knife. "C'mon I need to talk to Rick" He said. I looked at him and stood up following, We went outside to see Rick. "It's off. We'll take our chances" Rick said. He looked at me then Daryl. "She's okay she won't tell" Daryl said.

Rick nodded a bit. "I'm also not saying it was a bad call but it's the right one" Daryl said. Rick looked worried like something is bugging him "Whats wrong?" I finally spoke up, He looked at me then Daryl "I can't find Merle or Michonne, They've gone" He said. I looked at Daryl "C'mon" we followed him down to the tombs.

We were back to where we were earlier "He was in here, said he was lookin' for drugs, He said lots of things actually" Daryl looked at me "Like what?" Rick asked I looked at Daryl "Said that you were going to change your mind. Yeah here we go" Daryl said There was bag/sack on the floor "He took 'er here mixed it up" Daryl said looking at the wires on the floor. I looked at Rick "Damn It, Im going after them" Rick said standing up and walking towards the door. "You can't track for shit" Daryl said. I smirked a little "Then both of us" Rick said "Nah Just me I Sai-" I cut Daryl off. I wasn't gonna let him go out there alone... I don't want him to. "I'll go" I said, They looked at me "You sure" he asked. I looked at Daryl and nodded

I went up to Carl "I'm going with Daryl on a small run" I said lying. He looked at me "You want me to go with you guys?" He asked looked me in the eyes "We'll be okay" I said softly.. He nodded and hugged me "You okay?" He asked, I just smiled a bit and pecked his lips and ran off to Daryl. The walk was quiet, Not an Awkward quiet just Admiring the quiet. "It's Quiet" Daryl said looking around "Yeah" I looked over to him "What's wrong" He asked, i gave him a confused look "Nothin' " I said looking forward He shook his head "Something's botherin' you" I looked down and didn't answer, He got the point that i didn't want to talk.

~Some little time later~

We saw Michonne up a head "Hey!" Daryl yelled as we ran up to her "Where's my brother?" He asked, She stayed quiet "You kill em?" Daryl asked. I looked at him with that 'Really?' look she wouldn't kill him... Would she? I looked at her, she shook her head 'No' "He let me go" She said. We looked at each other "Don't let anyone come after us" Daryl said, we took off running "Daryl what was he going to do with her?" I asked. I didn't understand. Since she's got here, Things have been weird. He looked at me "The Governor made a deal with Rick, that if he gave her Michonne, He would leave the prison alone" Daryl said, I nodded a little, They would make the trade over where they had the meeting.

After about half an hour we arrived at the place, We saw walkers eating the flesh off of what im assuming the governor's me. This just happened not so long ago.. He signaled me to look around by a building, I nodded and took out my gun. We went our separate ways, I went in the building and i saw blood on the floor, I whistled a little and Daryl looked over, I signaled him to come over "Blood" I said softly and pointed at the trail leading out the door. We followed it, I took out my gun and opened the door, Daryl behind looking around seeing if he can find anything. I opened the door to something that broke my heart. Into pieces. I felt tears forming in my eyes.

I stopped in my tracks, I felt my legs go weak and i dropped my gun. I looked over to see Merle. Feasting on a dead body "Merle? Please no Merle" I whispered sadly. He looked up at me. He stood up slowly still chewing piece of flesh in his mouth. I was crying my eyes out at this point. His eyes Yellow and glossy. He stood up i saw a bullet wound on his chest, I let out a sob I covered my mouth a bit. He walked over to me, Almost falling tripping over the body. I shook my head more tears falling, 2 fingers were missing from his hand. He came closer i pushed him back. Another loud sob/scream came out of my mouth. 

I heard someone coming over to me but the running stopped, He came closer again... more tears coming feeling like they would never stop. He walked closer to me, But before i could push him Daryl came in and pushed him to the ground, Stabbing him repeatedly in the head, Sobs escaping from his mouth. I fell to the ground crying. Daryl came over to me, I hugged him tight and cried on his chest. He cried on me too Hugging me tight. We lost our brother..... Daryl carried me bridal style, he put his crossbow on his back and we walked back to prison. 

~Arriving at the prison~ 

When we arrived, Rick opened the gates with Carl along helping him. I was still in my brothers arms, I saw Carl walk up to us so i hid my face in Daryl's chest "Daryl What happened out there" Rick asked, He looked down to me and the tears came running down again. "Daryl" Carl asked, He ignored them and kept walking, Carl and Rick went back to close the gates and ran back to us, "Daryl, Hey man whats wrong? What happened?" Rick asked. Daryl finally stopped "Merle's Dead." He whispered and we continued to walk back to our cells. Rick and Carl froze in their tracks. 

We went up to the cell block, Daryl sat me down on the table, He looked at me, Tears in his eyes. He hugged tight and Looked at me. He placed a kiss on my head and he ran off with his crossbow. I got off the table and sat against the wall, I hid my face with my hands. I didn't like people looking at me when i'm crying. The image of Merle came in my head. His eyes yellow and glossy. His shirt covered in blood. A sob escaped my mouth, I bit my sleeve trying to quiet myself down.

~Carl's Pov~

"Merle's Dead" Daryl whispered and he walked away with Ashley in his arms. I looked at my dad "Go check on Ashley i'll check on Daryl" My dad said looking over at them. I saw Daryl came out of the cell block with his crossbow in hand. But i didn't see Ashley after him, I ran over to the cell block. I heard crying 'Ashley' i thought to myself. I saw her on the sitting against the wall. Her hair and hands covering her face. I felt horrible seeing her like this, It broke me. I went over to her and hugged her, She was still in the same position not moving "I'm so sorry" She finally hugged me back. Crying on my shoulder. "I Love You" She cried and hugged me tighter.

I helped her get up. "Cmon" i said softly. We walked over to her cell and she laied down, I laid next to her for a while. "Carl come down here please" I heard Carol calling me. "I'll be right back" I whispered and kissed her cheek. I went downstairs to see the whole group except for Daryl and Ashley. My dad spoke up "I don't know if you all heard yet, But Merle died today. The Governor shot him and he turned. Ashley and Daryl had to kill him" The whole group was shocked, I was too. I didn't know that she had to kill him. Even though we didn't really like Merle... He was family to them... losing a family member is hard... Maggie and Beth looked at each other. They were very close. 

I went back to check on Ashley, Daryl was there hugging her, Ashley was crying and Daryl hugged her, She let go and and went under the covers, Daryl looked up at me "Thank ya for watching over her" He whispered and i nodded. He started walking out "Daryl." He looked back at me "I'm sorry" He looked down and nodded slowly. he walked out. I looked back at Ashley, I walked over to her and laid down next to her. I hugged her. She turned around, Her body facing me, She buried her face in my chest, I hugged her tighter. I kissed her head. We fell asleep like this. I was holding her in my arms.
