foreword & notes
Description:
"You don't know how much I hate that answerphone."
The year is 1986. George Panayiotou is an attractive young man, plagued with internal struggles revolving around his lack of self-image; and of coming to grips with his closeted homosexuality, in a world that he fears could be far from accepting.
Keeping such a secret begins to torment this poor soul — only made worse by his sham relationship with his girlfriend, Stephanie.
The last thing George wants is to undeservingly break this faultless woman's heart. However, he cannot bring himself to confess the truth to her.
Just as he finally finds the courage to divulge all that he has kept bottled up, he stumbles upon a big enough reason to leave it unspoken, for at least a little while longer.

I wish to stress that any negative views, behaviours, speech or attitudes presented in the story do not reflect my own opinions; nor do they suggest that I believe them to be true. The story is a reflection of life in the time it is based in; I am fully aware that times have progressed and attitudes are much more open-minded and welcoming than ever before.
