Chapter 1: It Was Nothing
You continued carrying Yasaka through the forest, seeing many glowing particles in the air. It gave you a childlike feeling of wonder.
Yasaka: "You look like a kid."
"Sorry. I've never been in the forest before. Just traveled along the roads until I got to the next settlement or city."
Yasaka: "No worries. You just looked cute."
You blushed for a bit, as that was the first time you were ever called cute.
After a few more minutes of walking, you and Yasaka eventually reach a large rock.
"Dead end."
Yasaka: "No. We've arrived."
Suddenly, a line split the boulder and it opened like a door. You soon saw a village with many people walking around, a lot of them happy.
"That's where I live," she said, pointing to a boulder on top of a hill.
As you continued to take Yasaka through the village, you passeed by many people, but they didn't seem to notice you.
"Okay, I'm carrying a woman who seems to be a very important person, and yet no one seems to notice that I'm carrying her on my back."
Yasaka: "I'm using my magic to disguise us. I prefer to not draw attention. At least until we get to my house."
You kept on walking and avoided bumping into other people until you reached the house and knocked on the door.
"Who's there?" a voice from inside asked.
Once Yasaka undid her magic, you saw a young kitsune standing in front of yourself.
"Mother!"
"Where do I set her down?"
"Here," the young kitsune instructed, putting a blanket on the floor.
You gently put Yasaka on the blanket before the kitsune applied salve to her skin.
"Got a few bruises, but I'm sure she'll recover in no time."
Yasaka: "This young man helped me."
"I just helped you get back. It was no big deal."
Your stomach began to growl, and you decided that you should go.
"Well, pleasure helping you Ms. Yasaka, but I think it's time I head out now."
Yasaka: "Please, stay for a bit. Allow us to treat you to dinner. You can even sleep for the night."
"Okay," you sighed. "Thank you."
Yasaka: "It's the least I could do for you saving me."
You smiled a little and sat down as you watched the young kitsune mend her mother.
