It all started when she didn't feel like she was enough and decided to get even... With some help, of course.

Sara Cranston. She's the supposed top of the social tower in her high school, and to most people around her, has found a happy relationship with her boyfriend, Carter Williams. But what if she isn't actually happy? After all, everyone puts on certain fronts to fool those around them, and maybe even to fool themselves, to some extent.

Turns out Sara has been faking it, hoping that happiness would materialize instead of further desperation. Her unhappiness leads to a spite-filled decision that ends up haunting her with its consequences, including relationships coming to a head and becoming more convoluted than they were before.

Despite all the complications, can everything work out? Or does one decision forever taint anything and everything that could have been, for everyone involved?

Note: For those of you who have read any of My Best Friend, The Bad Boy, this story starts before the events of that book, and intertwines with that timeline. However, this spinoff focuses on different characters from the story.
