The Thank You Note
~10 years in the future~
"So is this how you did it last time?" Kakeru asked skeptically.
Hagita rolled his eyes "How should we know?! We never had to send the letters 'cuase we were the ones that received them. Then again that would cuase a paradox.. or it's just other dimentions..."
Suwa just rolled his eyes "Oh shut up Hagita! We already know that the parallel universe thing is wrong. And it's probably better to just not think about the paradoxes."
Azusa snorted "When did Suwa become the voice of reason in this group?!"
Takako laughed as the two of them started fighting "You know Azusa, sometimes I think that you should have married Suwa instead of Hagita. You sure fight like a married couple well enough."
Hagita laughed "Don't worry, she fights with me plenty enough too. Besides, I think you're the only one that could keep Suwa under wraps."
He rolled his eyes "Oh shut it Hagita. Besides we're here for Kakeru!"
Kakeru looked out at the water then back down at the container in his hands. "We've already had one miracle... How can we be sure that it'll work again?"
A gentle hand grabbed onto his and he looked into the eyes of his beautiful wife. "I know it'll work." Naho smiled at him "It has to..."
~present day~
Kakeru sighed as he sat down at his desk. "Good morning Kakeru!" He looked up and saw his friends smiling at him.
He grinned back "Hey guys!"
"You wanna hang out after school today?" Suwa asked.
"Sure." He answered back.
This is how things had been for the last month. The 6 had grown even closer since Kakeru's suicide attempt. They made sure to never leave him alone, and he was grateful for it. He was still hurting but he no longer had those thoughts. And he knew that even if he ever did they would be right there for him. On the other hand... They could never be 100% sure. What if something happened later down the road. They all trusted him for now, but they could never be positive... They would always be on edge. But that's ok. They were keeping Kakeru safe.
After the group had finished at the bakery they all went their separate ways. All except for Naho and Kakeru. Ever since they started dating they made it a habit to walk home with each other.
Kakeru took Naho's hand as they walked down the street. "So how softball?"
She smiled "It was good. Still haven't gotten another homerun yet."
He smiled "You'll get there eventually."
They kept talking for a while until they eventually sat down on a park bench. Their conversation eventually reached the topic of Kakeru's health. "How was therapy yesterday?"
He paused for a couple seconds. Kakeru rubbed his thumb over the palm of Naho's hand. "It was good..."
She sighed "You didn't go did you."
His face turned red "I'm ok now really Naho! I don't need to go to a therapist!"
Naho gripped his hand "I know Kakeru... and we all trust you it's that... we just want to make sure that you stay okay." Tears started to come to her eyes "I just don't know what I would ever do without you..."
He looked over at her "Hey don't cry..." he wrapped an arm around her shoulders "Don't worry... I go to all of my sessions from now on. I promise."
She smiled up at him as he wiped the tears from her eyes. "Thank you Kakeru..."
The two talked for awhile longer before they headed home. When Naho got home she found a letter addressed to her in the mailbox. She became confused when she saw that the person that had sent it was Kakeru. She quickly went upstairs to open it. She sat down at her desk and broke the seal.
Dear Naho,
Hi! How are you? How's softball been? How are the others? You're 16 right? At least I hope that you received this when I wanted you to.
I should probably explain myself. I'm Kakeru Naruse, and I am 26 years old. It worked. You all saved me. And for that I am so grateful!
When I met you all I was in a very difficult time of my life. I thought things that I shouldn't have. I wanted to do things, to myself that I shouldn't have. But thanks to you... I'm here, writing you this letter.
I don't want to spoil too many happy memories but I will tell you one thing. In the last ten years I've gotten married and I have a son. WE have a son. (I've included a picture.) I love you Naho. Thank you, for being you. Thank you for saving me.
Sincerely your loving husband, Kakeru Naruse.
Halfway through Naho started crying. They'd done it. They had really done it! She knew that they had stopped the first time but now she knew for sure that he was alive. And that's all that she needed...
She smiled to herself and picked up the picture. It showed all of her friends. Kakeru and her were holding hands while she had a small bundle in her arms. "I marry Kakeru... and we have a son..." She smiled again "I like that..."
(A/N - Hey guys! :) Thanks for reading!)
