Sleepless...

The creature just disappeared!
By now, the sun was going down, causing the hall to become dim with the lack of light. I silently walked back to my room, avoiding any mirror, after everything that had happened.

As I opened my bedroom door, I saw my brother making a makeshift bed beside my bed.
"What took you so long? You look as if you saw a ghost".

"Maybe I did see a ghost. Actually, I think it was a demonic entity", I said in a dead tone.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, when I was washing my face, I looked up into the mirror and behind me was a horrific creature. It was definitely inhuman; it was missing all its facial features".

"It's getting worse every day", Alex said, gripping his bedsheets, causing his knuckles to turn white.

"We can talk about it more tomorrow", my brother said, while reaching his hand out to turn off the bedside light, but before he could turn it off, I grabbed his wrist and shook my head.

"Can we leave the light on?", I asked, hoping he would agree, as I wasn't ready to sleep in the dark.

"Oh yes, sorry".

Alex then turned around on his makeshift bed and closed his eyes, trying to fall into a slumber that he knew wouldn't work out so easily. I knew he felt uneasy with everything that was happening, so I decided to say nothing, and try and fall asleep.

~~~
I was staring up at the ceiling. My mind was blank. My brother was now asleep. Whenever I tried to sleep, an image of the faceless creature always sneaked into my mind, causing me to become petrified. I did manage to fall into a slumber, but I would wake up sweating and breathing heavily.
"Ugh!" I said to myself as I got out of bed, my feet touching the cool antique brown floor. I slipped on my coral pink slippers and cautiously made my way down the
eerie hallway. Images of the faceless entity came to mind, causing me to get goosebumps.
I was originally getting a glass of water until I saw Molly holding an old fashioned lantern, hunched over...crying. But it was not crying with grief. She would let out a deep chuckle in between sobs. I backed away behind the corner, but I could still see Molly.
Molly then abruptly stopped her 'sobbing' and bent down even more, causing her joints to make a cracking noise. She then placed her lamp down and picked something up, and started to slowly cradle it in her arms like a small baby. It was at this moment that I realized she was holding one of her cats, but it hadn't moved a muscle. I presumed the cat was deceased as droplets of what I presumed was blood was dripping down its paws. I was mortified. Images of the black cat carcass came to my mind, making me feel sick to my stomach.
I started to walk back slowly, ensuring that I wasn't heard. Once I was out of sight, I leaned against the wall, allowing myself to slide down onto the floor. My arms were covering my face untill I heard what sounded like a woman cry. I slowly lifted my head up to see a girl leaning against the door, the door which Molly had told me not to enter.
She had very pale skin, which was almost transparent. She had long chestnut brown hair which draped over her shoulders. She looked to be in her late 20s or 30s. The woman must have heard me as she looked up at me, showing her teared-stained face. I was lost for words. I knew that the only other women who lived here were Molly and my mother, so I wasn't sure who she was.
I was about to reach out and ask the mysterious woman if she was OK, but I heard footsteps behind me, so I got up and hid in my brother's vacant bedroom, peering between the gap to see who it was. It was Molly, still holding the cat, which I now confirmed to be a deceased Cleo. I quickly said a silent prayer for the poor cat, hoping she was in a better place. Molly took out what looked like a simple metal key and opened the door she told me to stay away from, and entered the room, closing the door behind her. The sad girl had now disappeared, confirming my thoughts that she must have been a troubled ghost, by her appearance and the way she just disappeared. I slowly opened my brother's bedroom door and tip-toed back to my bedroom, forgetting about my craving for a class of water. Once I got to my bedroom, I lay back on my bed, but I wasn't able to fall asleep. I then grabbed my phone and turned it on. The light of my phone screen was a bit much, causing me to squint, even though the night light was on. I went to my messages and clicked on Violet's name. I knew she was probably asleep, but I had nothing else to do, untill my parents paid the internet bill.
"Hey!"
I thought she wasn't going to answer, but to my surprise, I received a message.
"Hey,what are you doing up at this time?"
" Well, I have a question? I wondered if my brother and I could meet up with you, whenever you're not busy".
"Sure! Are you around at 1:00?"
"Yes, we're around".
"What did you want to talk about?"
"Well, I'm not sure if you will believe me, but I think something is in this house. I want to know more about the house and Molly."
"Sure...I'll see you tomorrow then"
We then ended our short conversation, and I tried to go to sleep.
"Maybe I'll finally get some answers", I thought to myself as I drifted off to sleep, hoping that I can handle what is to come in the future.
~~~
The warmth of the sun hit my skin, causing me to groan. As I adjusted my eyes to the sunlight, I went to see if my brother was awake, but when I looked at the side of the bed, there was nothing there.

"Hmm, maybe he got up and went back to his bedroom", I thought as I slipped on my slippers, and opened my bedroom door. I was walking down the hallway when I saw a girl with long chestnut brown hair pass me. "
Wait..."

I then remembered seeing her, last night, and decided to follow her. I followed her to the kitchen, where china plates were scattered across the floor, broken. When I looked up from the floor, I saw Dr.Cordell! He had raised his fist and I closed my eyes ready for the impact of his punch, but instead I heard a whimper, followed by a thud. When I opened my eyes, I see the woman from before, curled up on the floor, and she was holding her nose.
"WHY DID YOU DO THIS, ELISE!", Dr. Cordell screamed at the poor woman.
"WHY THE HELL WOULD I DO THIS!", screamed the girl I presumed was Elise.

The arguing started to get worse, so I decided to leave the room. Once I was outside, I sat on the porch, kicking my legs. I wondered if this was a dream. I noticed in the distance something hunched over. I stood up slowly, ready to run inside, when the creature stood up as well, slowly turning around to face me.
I was met with the same silhouette from my previous dream, but this time it was missing its eyes like the faceless creature from before.

"YOU BROKE IT, YOU BROKE IT",
the creature screamed, running towards me.

I felt the same pressure on my abdomen, as before. The immense pain I was feeling stopped me from running. Once the silhouette had reached me, I was engulfed into darkness.
~~~
I Jolted up from my bed, sweating.
"Are you OK?", my brother said, holding his arm up to my forehead.
"Y-yes, I just had another dream".
"What are we going to do?"
"Well, after the holidays, we start our new school. We won't be stuck in the house, so maybe, just maybe, things will start to settle down for us".
"I hope you're right", my brother said; he didn't sound convinced.
I decided to tell my brother everything that happened in my dream, including us meeting up with Violet for some answers.
"How do you know if she even knows?"
"Well, she would have disagreed, wouldn't she?"
My brother just nodded and stood up from the bed.
"Let's do this!"
~~~
"When's the right time?" A mysterious shadow said
"Be patient; they'll end up just like their sister did."
