A certain medium
"The host needs to be healthy. Sadly, your sister wasn't strong enough, and she needed to be got rid of"
Silence!
I was at a loss for words. Logan's words repeated on a loop in my throbbing head.
"What?" Alex spoke, standing up with shaking legs.
"You heard me! I don't need to repeat myself", Logan replied in a sing-song tone, waving his index finger in the air, giving us a closed-eye smile.
Abruptly standing up, Violet strode over to Logan and slapped him across the face. Placing a hand over his now red-tinted cheek, Logan looked up, eyes widening as he looked at Violet.
"You don't even know the story", was his only comeback. He stood up, brushing crumbs off of his black trousers.
"Even I don't know the full story! I trust them both and what you said is out of order". In a stern tone, Violet grabbed Logan's shoulder, preventing him from leaving.
Logan looked awkwardly at the road, as cars passed by.
"I'm going!". Putting his hand in his pockets, Logan shook his shoulder free. Turning on his heel, Logan walked down the street, his figure fading away as he disappeared around a corner.
"We need to get home!" Swiftly I stood up, my eyes downcast. I was at a loss for words. A lump raised in my throat, my eyes blinking uncontrollably as I attempted to prevent tears falling. Shaking my head, I looked up to see Alexander, who was appalled. He was in a daze, his lip quivering.
Finally, Alex stood up, infuriated, "How dare he!"
Both Violet and I nodded, my hair falling from behind my ear, covering my eye. Slowly, Violet put the loose hair behind my ear, and smiled at me.
"Let's get you home!"

Walking up the pathway with Violet and Alex, I noticed a black Audi pulled up by the house.
"I wonder who's here?"
"Probably the medium!" Shouting, Alex ran up the cobblestone path, opening the door.
Inviting Violet in, we walked into the kitchen to see our Mom conversing with a tall woman, who was wearing a white roll-neck top, accompanied by black leggings. The woman's black waist-length hair was tightly braided and wrapped into a tight bun. A colourful headband tamed her stray hairs. The woman had a pair of turquoise earrings dangling from both ears.
"Ah, Brook, Alex, this is Emily the medium I spoke to you about"
Standing up, Emily gracefully walked over to us; raising her hand, she spoke.
"Hello, Brooklyn and Alexander". Stopping, she looked over at Violet before smiling.
"Hello, Violet"
Shocked, Violet looked over at Emily.
"H-how did you know!?"
Smiling, Emily faced her, bending down to meet Violet's eyes.
"Doris"
"Who's Doris?"
Turning around, Violet faced my mother. "She's my grandmother; she passed away three years ago"
"O-oh, sorry, dear, that was rather intrusive of me"
"Don't worry Mrs. Garcia, you didn't know"
"Call me Olivia"
Nodding, Violet turned red, not knowing what to say.
"Lets begin!" Clasping both hands together, Emily turned around and looked up the stairs.
"Up there!" Pointing upstairs, Emily walked up the old wooden stairs, her frown growing as her brows furrowed.
Placing a gentle hand on the wallpaper, Emily glided her hand across the cream wall. Walking down the hallway, she stopped in front of the door Molly had forbidden us from entering.
"May I go in?"
Shaking her head, our Mum pointed at the lock of the door. "It's locked and Molly has forbidden us from entering"
Nodding, Emily placed her palm against the furnished door.
"There's something evil, no...". Trailing off, Emily walked in circles, her eyes dulling as she spoke.
My lips became dry as I gulped with anticipation.
"No, there's two"
Before anyone could speak, Emily swiftly spun her head around, starring at Molly's room.
"Some very, very bad things have occurred here. A woman...no, two, are working together" Placing a finger on her chin, Emily bent down, closing her eyes, the skin around her eyes wrinkled.
"There's something someone is trying to tell me, but...it's being blocked"
Out of nowhere, Emily jumped up, her eyes darting around the hall.
"Framed"
"Its all a blur, I can't get the image"
Slapping her hands against her head, Emily spoke slowly. Her voice calmed as her face muscles relaxed, the wrinkles fading.
"Is someone here?"
Closing her eyes once more, Emily walked to my room.
"Two pendants"
"A broken one"
Looking at my brother and Mom, they both didn't know what I was thinking.
"Dahlia's pendant"
Making eye contact with Emily, she walked over to me.
"Do you have a picture of this woman?", Emily asked, looking at every one of us.
Pulling a picture out of her pocket, our Mom handed it over. Taking it, Emily placed a hand on the picture, tracing the figure of Dahlia.
Slowly, Emily's eyes filled with tears, her lip quivering.
"Are you OK?"
Grabbing a tissue from her sleeve, Emily dabbed her eyes.
"People thought of her wrongly. She died in vain; she was framed"
Leaning her hand against the wall, she looked at my Mom.
"I'm getting certain sentences, two pendants, one broken, one not. Two women, one framed, one not. Three men, two dead, one not.
And, lastly, two girls, both alive, but between life and death"
Walking over to Molly's room, Emily jerks back her hand, twitching.
"The shack, woods, it's hidden beneath the trees"
As Emily spoke, my hands became clammy. My breathing quickened as I processed Emilie's words in my head.
Looking around the hallway, my vision blurred. My throat began to burn. Every time I took a breath, my throat tightened. Pressure was all I could feel. I could feel long fingers viciously wrapped around my delicate throat. It was as if something knew what I was thinking and didn't want me to know.
Looking over, Emily grabbed my arm, the feeling of her warmth ran up my arm, reaching my neck. The pressure slowly subsided. Taking a huge breath of air, I placed my hand on my throat, rubbing it gently.
"The cabin was in my dream"
Emily's face stiffened. Placing a hand on my shoulder, she looked at my Mom with pure confidence. She spoke.
"We're going to end this"
