The mentors were taking the apprentices out for training together. They walked to the training hollow.

"Okay," said Smokefur. Smokefur was Darkpaw's mentor and was also the deputy. "Today we're going to teach you battle training. First, you have to run at your enemy. Then you jump and flip over them, because cats can totally do that. Then you have to land on their back and pin them to the ground. Easy!"

The apprentices nodded and faced their mentors. Bumblepaw ran at his mentor, Rockyfur, but he tripped clumsily over his own paws. Darkpaw ran at Smokefur and jumped, but he was to short and he crashed into Smokefur. Moonpaw ran at Mothfur with amazing speed and flipped ten times as she leaped, landing gracefully on Mothfur's back. Then she pinned her to the ground. Mothfur struggled, but the new apprentice was totally stronger than a warrior.

"Wow Moonpaw!" Gasped Bumblepaw. "That was so cool! I wish I could be like you!"

"Well, you can't, nobody can be as awesome as me," said Moonpaw. Darkpaw stuck his tongue out at Moonpaw and grumpily crossed his arms.

    "Let's hunt," decided Smokefur.

    Everybody nodded. Bumblepaw asked, "can you teach us how to hunt?"

    "Sure, we-" started Rockyfur.

    "I can already hunt," Moonpaw interrupted proudly. "When I was one moon old I snuck past the night guard without him knowing and I caught 13 squirrels, 11 rabbits, 9 sparrows, 12 robins, 22 mice, and 13 voles because there's that much prey in the forest."

    "Wow! That's amazing!" The cats cheered without punishing her for breaking the warrior code when she snuck out when she was a kit.

    "Moonpaw didn't even know how to hunt and she caught that much prey," said Smokefur. "Go teach yourself how to hunt. It's also because I don't feel like teaching you."

    Darkpaw made a face and stomped away. Bumblepaw walked away too. The mentors also walked away, leaving Moonpaw.

    Moonpaw saw a mouse run by and she grabbed it with her claws. She put it on the ground and after 1 minute she had caught 19 squirrels, 26 rabbits, 14 pigeons, 15 robins, 17 robins, 29 voles, and 42 mice. The other cats walked up.

    Smokefur had caught a scrawny pigeon. Mothfur caught two old feeble mice. Rockyfur caught a vole. Darkpaw and Bumblepaw didn't catch anything. "Losers," said Moonpaw.

    And with that Moonpaw strode back to camp carrying all her prey in her mouth at once.
