Chapter Five
Aphmau's POV
Katelyn, Jeffory, and I were in my house, catching up on things. "So, Aph. You get together with anyone?" Katelyn asked.
I smirked. "I did. A few moments ago, Garroth and I got together."
"Really?" Jeffory asked. "Good for you. I could tell he liked you. And that you liked him."
"Oh, you could, could you?" Katelyn asked.
Jeffory smirked. "I can tell when anyone likes anyone. Nothing like that gets past me."
I coughed. "Suuuuure you can." I nodded sarcastically. "Mhm. Yep. Definitely."
"Shut up, you know I can." Jeffory rolled his eyes.
"Then who does Katelyn like?" I asked, smirking myself.
"Aphmau!" Katelyn punched my shoulder and I laughed. "We don't speak of that!"
"I'm not. I'm simply asking if he knows." I told her.
"Maybe I am a little curious if he knows." Katelyn admitted.
Jeffory narrowed his eyes. "Hm. You like no one. You don't want to be in a relationship."
"Wrong!" Both Katelyn and I laughed.
"Come on, Jeff, I know who it is! Seriously it's obvious." I giggled.
"Don't you dare tell him." Katelyn threatened me.
"Dare tell him!" Jeffory exclaimed. "Tell me, tell me, tell me."
I looked at both of them. "Maybe I will." I smirked.
"Aph..." Katelyn growled.
"Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase?" Jeffory begged me, even going so far as to use puppy dog eyes. "I wanna know."
"Okay. Fine. Jeffory, Katelyn likes you." I giggled.
"That's it!" Katelyn stood up. "Run Aphmau, 'cause you're gonna die."
"Katelyn wait!" I yelled. "Jeffory told me he likes you, too!"
"Aphmau!" Jeffory exclaimed. "Why?"
Katelyn turned to stare at Jeffory, and he stared at her. I didn't stay to see them get together or anything. I ran.
"Garroth, Laurence, Dante, hide me!" I giggled, running into the guard tower. The old one, where the three of them live now.
"Why? What happened?" Dante asked.
I held up my hand, signalling for them to wait for a second so I could catch my breath. "I told...Jeffory that Katelyn...was in love with him...and I told Katelyn...that Jeffory loved her, too...now they're both gonna attack me..." I panted.
The guys laughed. "So now you need a place to hide?" Laurence asked.
I nodded. "Yeah."
Garroth opened the door to his room. "Hide in there. I doubt they'll try to look in my room."
"Thanks." I grinned, then went inside. Garroth closed the door behind me, and continued his conversation with Laurence and Dante as if nothing had happened.
Garroth's POV
Katelyn ran into the guard tower about five minutes later. "Where's Aphmau?" She asked.
"Not here." Dante said, poking his head out of his room.
"Are you sure?" Katelyn asked.
"We're positive she's not in this room." Laurence said.
Katelyn narrowed her eyes. "Fine." She climbed down the ladder. "Not up there, Jeff!" We heard her call.
Laurence went out to the balcony, watching their progress. "She's gone Aph, you can come out now." He called inside.
Aphmau came out of my room. "Which direction did she go?"
"In the direction of the plaza." Laurence replied.
"Thanks. Now I just have to go hide near the plaza, because Katelyn doesn't return to where she's already looked." Aphmau giggled, then went down the ladder.
"This'll be funny when Katelyn or Jeffory find her." Dante chuckled.
"It will," I agreed. "It really will."
"Wanna follow her and watch?" Laurence asked, coming in from the balcony.
"Great idea." Dante nodded. We left the guard tower and saw Aph behind a tree.
Jeffory ran over. "Found you!"
Aphmau screamed. "Ahh!"
Katelyn ran over. "There you are."
"Oh Irene I'm gonna die." She groaned.
"No you're not." Jeffory laughed. Both he and Katelyn hugged her.
"Thanks." Katelyn said.
Aphmau stared at them. "Are you luring me into a false sense of security to attack me later?"
"No." Katelyn laughed. "We just want to thank you for revealing our secret to each other."
"We both would've been too scared to admit it to each other, afraid of rejection." Jeffory explained. "By telling us, you got us together. So thanks."
"Soooooooo, you're not gonna kill me?" Aphmau clarified.
"No." Katelyn laughed.
"Good." Aphmau nodded. "And now you two are together. Awesome."
Aphmau's POV
Jeffory and Katelyn went off with Abby to do something, and Garroth came up to me later.
We sat at the docks, not really doing anything. "So, do you have any siblings?" Garroth asked.
I tilted my head. "Biologically? Nope. Jeffory and Katelyn are like a brother and sister to me, though."
"Rather like how Laurence is like a brother to me." Garroth nodded.
"Exactly like that." I agreed. "So what do you like to do on your free time?"
"I just tend to sit around, bored. I don't have something I can just go do at any given time, so I never really let myself have any off time." Garroth replied.
"Hm. I spend my free time hanging out with people. Mainly Levin, and now that I have him, Malachi." I shrugged.
"That sounds fun." Garroth chuckled.
"It is. Actually, I'm thinking about building a treehouse for them tomorrow. Wanna help?" I asked.
"Sure." The two of us went our separate ways, since it was getting dark, and I went to bed almost immediately once I got home.
The next morning, Zoey gave me a sapling for a Yggdrasil Forest tree, to make the treehouse in.
I stepped outside, with my backpack full of stuff to build the treehouse, when Garroth came up the path.
I looked over at him and smiled. "Hey."
"Hey." Garroth replied, chuckling.
"Garroth!" Malachi exclaimed. "Hi!"
"Daddy!" Levin jumped into Garroth's arms.
He stumbled a but and even though he was wearing his helm I could tell he was blushing. "Hi, Malachi, Levin."
The four of us went over to where I had chosen to make the treehouse. I put the sapling on the ground and surrounded it with water as I was supposed to.
"That is a tree. That is most definitely a tree." I commented.
"Wow! We'll go gather some supplies!" Malachi yelled, and he and Levin ran off.
"No, boys, wait! I have materials..." I trailed off.
"It's okay, this way, as we work in building it, they won't fall off the top or get in the way." Garroth told me.
"They don't get in the way, but I see what you mean." I nodded. "Alright, let's go build that treehouse."
We went inside the tree, because I made a doorway, and worked on the stairway up. When we got to the place for the treehouse itself, Garroth began to work farther out than me.
"That's good, that far. Put some fences there." I told him, working on making a second room.
"Okay." Garroth nodded, and I gave him some fences.
When I finished with the second room, I came out of it to see Garroth had finished the fences.
