Chapter Twenty-Two Peter
Chapter Twenty-Two
Peter
Peter was present at the press conference with Mr. Collins and a few others. He was silent and did not feel well at all. It seemed like the wind was blowing in his ears; the sounds were loud, but not clear.
Peter thought to himself: "What am I doing here? I didn't want this. This is not my place. I don't want to be here; this is not my place." Then he looked at Mr. Collins's face and realized that Mr. Collins's lips were moving; he was probably talking about his future plans and the company and introducing Peter as one of the parts of the company because apparently the photographers were now taking pictures of Peter and the reporters were asking him questions.
Peter leaned slightly to the left and whispered in the ear of the person sitting next to him: "I don't feel well at all; I want to go out." Peter did not realize how he got out of that hall. Anyway, he sat down on a chair in a corridor with sadness and frustration. Peter was lost in thought when he realized that someone had brought him a glass of water. He took the glass and drank the water sip by sip and said to himself: "I wanted to change, so what happened? I have to live; I want to live; this is my right." Peter wrote on his blog: It seems like a pig can really fly! I got hired by a good company. This is the last time I write anything on this blog. Peter then looked at the number of visitors. The number one, this was unbelievable. This blog still had one visitor.
In the company, in a hall, Peter was introduced by Mr. Collins to the important and key people of the company. A small party was going on.
While Peter was busy talking to someone; Mr. Collins called Peter. He wanted to introduce someone to Peter Miller.
Peter, who had been standing with his back to them until then; turned around and as soon as he saw that young woman; he said: "I can't believe it, you're here?!"
The young woman also said with great surprise: "Me too, Peter Miller."
Lisa Marks's appearance had changed; she had cut her hair short and boyish and dyed it blond; she had pierced her ears but still had a beautiful smile like before but Peter was not sure about her feelings at that moment and he was hiding his happiness.
Mr. Collins also said with surprise: "Do you know each other?"
Peter said: "Yes; we know each other very well. I just got a little surprised to see her here too."
Mr. Collins said, "Mrs. Marks has been my assistant and advisor in the company for six years, and despite their little experience, they proved their worth."
Mrs. Marks said, "But I was surprised to see you as the current manager and successor of Mr. Collins in the future."
"Well, I was lucky."
Mr. Collins said, "Of course, luck has nothing to do with it." Then he said, "Until you get fully acquainted with the work routine; Mrs. Marks will help you and guide you." Mrs. Marks said hesitantly and nervously,
"Mr. Collins, if you can, please excuse me from this work."
"Why! Do you have a problem?"
Peter said, "Mr. Collins, some things have happened between us that you don't know about."
"Your personal problems have nothing to do with work issues."
Mrs. Marks said, "Mr. Collins, forgive me; I have no problem."
Peter said to himself, "Really?! So you really have no problem?"
Mr. Collins said, "Very well, then you will work together."
Mrs. Marks opened a room for Peter Miller and Peter entered; Mrs. Marks came a few steps forward and said, "This is your room."
Peter sat behind his desk; sighed and said, "So this is my room; Wonderland." Then he said, "Tell me about the company situation; surely some people were unhappy with my choice; isn't it?"
"Surely some people are unhappy because they were not satisfied with your management in your previous company and your choice was very sudden."
"Surely if they find out that I was recently fired from my friend's company, things will get worse."
"You were fired from your job?!"
Peter sighed and said distractedly, "Yes; I wasn't feeling well I had no motivation for life." Then he turned his head so that his eyes would not fall on Mrs. Marks and said to himself, "I messed up what was that I said."
Mrs. Lisa Marks turned to leave the room but stopped and said, "You blame me; right? But maybe you are to blame." Silence lasted for a few minutes until someone knocked on the door and entered the room.
Anna entered happily and smiling and said, "I came to congratulate you and show that I'm not jealous at all and also to give you this ticket for the same thing you came to practice."
Peter said to himself, "It's like a fairy tale, I suddenly got everything; I became an important person again I have to show myself." Then he said, "I'll definitely come; it must be interesting. To be honest, I didn't think that one day a famous person would invite me again."
Anna said, "But this is true." Then she said to Mrs. Marks, "Lisa, are you okay?! By the way, you have to come too."
Mrs. Marks, who was obviously still nervous and worried, said, "I'll definitely come." Then she said to Peter, "I have to go now."
After Mrs. Marks left, Anna sighed and said, "Why was she so upset?! I had never seen Lisa like this before."
"I know why Mrs. Marks was upset."
"Really?! You know?"
"She's running away from me like last time."
"You know each other?"
"Yeah, we were supposed to get married."
Anna said, "Married?!"
"The day we wanted to get married, she said no at the last moment and left."
"Really? I didn't even think about it."
"I looked for her everywhere, but there was no trace of her; her negative answer is still the biggest question of my life."
"It's a strange story; Mrs. Marks doesn't look like it at all. But this way our lives become very similar to each other."
"I'm not lying I don't know why I'm telling you these things; six years have passed since this happened and I saw her in this company after all these years."
"And now it's clear from your face that working together is hard for you."
"This is not good; you can read my thoughts so easily."
"I wanted to help you; anyway, if you don't want me to interfere, I won't."
"Don't be upset I'm confused today; forgive me."
"There's no need to apologize."
This conversation lasted for ten minutes until the phone on the desk rang Peter picked up the phone and answered then said to Anna, "Mr. Collins wants to see both of us."
"Both of us! Together?"
"Why are you so surprised?"
Anna laughed and said, "I don't know."
