Chapter Seventy-one Amy
Chapter Seventy-one
Amy
It was around 10 a.m. on Friday November 11th when Mr. and Mrs. Moyes were sitting opposite each other and having coffee and homemade cake that Mr. Moyes said softly: "It's strange why there is no news from him?"
"What did you say, Scott?"
"I said 'why there is no news from him.'"
"I don't understand what you mean."
"I mean that writer; what happened to Mr. Stevenson?"
"I forgot to tell you."
"What did you forget?"
"Yesterday when you were not here, Mr. Stevenson had come here."
Scott was putting his coffee cup on the table while staring into Amy's eyes.
The color had drained from Scott's face. Mrs. Moyes noticed this but did not show any reaction and said: "Mr. Stevenson had an accident, he was not feeling well."
"He had an accident?"
"Yes, he looked very bad; you know it was a bit strange because he came here with that bad condition to tell me 'that his appointment with you is very important to him and he will definitely come back tomorrow.'!"
"So I'll see him again today."
"I wonder why you want to help him publish his new story and tell him about our life?"
Scott shrugged and said: "I don't know why I did that!"
Amy was silent and thought to herself: "With the behavior that I saw from you now and the words that you said, I realized that you have hidden something strange from me in your life, something that maybe I easily overlooked. I don't know why I doubted you but now that this doubt has attacked me, I have to figure out this matter; for Mary and for William." Then she sighed and thought to herself: "William, I'm sure you're alive." Then she said: “By the way, I packed my bags and I’m going on a trip tomorrow to visit my friend from the clinic.”
"You mean Jono? I'm glad you're going on a trip."
