Chapter One Hundred and Twenty-Five Anna

Chapter One Hundred and Twenty-Five
Anna

Wednesday, November 16th, finally, a very important day for Anna and even Peter Miller had arrived. Anna was counting the moments to meet Martin again, and Peter was waiting for Anna's work with that man to be done, then, as he guessed, return to that suspicious house with a gun and kill that detestable madman.
Anna and Robert got into the car and headed towards that house. During this time, Anna was silent until they entered the yard and that door appeared before her eyes; she sighed and said, "Until now, the past was more important to me than the present, but don't make this mistake; perhaps the events of the past are very different from your imaginations." Then she got out and entered the building; she realized that Mr. Holland was waiting for her in the same previous room. As Anna stood behind that door, wanting to knock, she heard Martin shouting, "I can't take it anymore, I'm a madman; I have to go now and take his life because I'm a murderer and also a fool." Anna saw through the door that Mr. Holland had a gun and was shouting at his friend because he had stopped him.
Martin said, "They accused me of being a madman, a murderer; but it wasn't proven. I lost Amy because she didn't believe I was innocent. Time passed, and Amy got married, and I became a murderer again; the murderer of Amy's and Scott's children while I was imprisoned here; the one who told me 'I have to escape because this time I might be arrested for the murder of those children.' It was Josh. I went from this house to that house, from this prison to that prison; am I really mad! Why didn't I protest all these years to this luxurious home prison? Why did I believe Josh's words? Why didn't I ever suspect Josh?"
James Cobb said, "Put the gun down. I said Josh might be responsible for all these cases; there's something more important than Josh's lie that I haven't told you yet, and you need to hear it. Something I found out today."
   "Tell me, hurry up."
   "Your daughter is alive."
Martin softly said, "My daughter is alive! Should I believe it?" Then he shouted, "I sacrificed myself so that no harm would come to Amy and my child, but I lost both of them, so please, this word is neither a joke nor a lie."
James said, "I'm not telling a joke or lying, so please believe me. I have to say this before that girl comes." He helped Martin to sit down.
Martin stood up again and said, "Tell me, where is my daughter?"
Anna broke the silence and said, "Right here!"
Martin and James turned towards the voice; Anna was in the room, and both men had not noticed her presence until that moment and were silently looking at Anna.
Anna said, "If my guess is right, I must be that girl."
Martin said, "Could it be possible?!"
   "Right, she's your daughter."
"You know, I came here to listen to the confessions of my family's murderer, but I found my father."
Martin fell on the couch behind him; he was unable to speak.
Anna sat in front of Martin on the couch and said, "These days, it's hard for me to believe anything I see and hear, so I'm neither upset nor happy."
Martin said, "James, are you sure about what you said?"
"I saw Christine myself; she said it herself."
"So Christine's disappearance was your doing."
   Anna said, "So it's true."
