Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Six Josh Collins
Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Six
Josh Collins
Mr. Collins drove aimlessly through the streets for several hours until his phone rang; he impatiently wanted to see who was calling. When he saw his wife's name, he quickly parked his car somewhere and, with a trembling hand, touched the green answer icon and said, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine; don't worry."
Mr. Collins sighed in relief and said, "Where are you now?"
"At home."
"Stay there until I come."
Mrs. Collins said, "Okay," and then the call ended. When Mr. Collins entered the house, he anxiously looked around the room to see his wife's face. When he saw her in the kitchen drinking a glass of water, he relaxed and went towards her and said, "Are you okay? You weren't hurt, were you?"
Christine said, "I'm fine; I wasn't hurt, but I'm upset."
"Why are you upset?"
Christine said, "I think those who kidnapped me were related to Martin Holland." She put the half-full glass on the counter.
"Are you sure?"
Christine nodded and said, "They found out that Anna is his daughter."
Josh felt he hadn't heard Christine's words well, so he frowned and said, "What are you saying? Whose daughter is Anna?"
Christine said, "Don't pretend you don't know that Martin and Anna are father and daughter." Then she slapped herself and said, "Damn, I shouldn't have admitted this."
"But you said you found her wandering in the street?"
"Don't lie to me; from the moment I told you this lie, I knew you knew she was his daughter."
Josh, staring at Christine in surprise, grabbed her arm and said, "What are you saying?"
Christine quickly pulled her hand back and said, "Don't look at me like a criminal; you're no better than me."
Josh Collins shouted, "Tell me the truth; were you involved in that incident too?"
Christine looked directly into her husband's eyes, then laughed and said, "I also collaborated in this incident."
Josh, pressing his palm against his forehead, said, "Why did you do this?"
"For Anna and myself; I wanted a child."
Josh, almost rushing towards his room, said, "It's ridiculous. I'm sure if Anna finds out, she'll hate you." Then he slammed the door behind him.
