Chapter One Hundred and Five Martin
Chapter One Hundred and Five
Martin
Martin Holland wrapped his arms around his half-brother as he walked towards Mr. Collins; then he hugged Mr. Collins. He was not happy at all, but angry, about the untimely and sudden arrival of his half-brother, which had left his plan unfinished and ruined everything he had planned. When he pulled himself back, he smiled and said: "Josh, what are you doing here?!"
Mr. Collins went to the single-seater sofa that Anna had sat on moments ago; Josh, as he sat down, said: "Why were you surprised by my coming here? Weren't we supposed to cooperate to prove that you didn't do that fire?"
Martin, who was standing in front of Josh, sighed and said: "Well, to be honest, I didn't think you would agree to cooperate with me on this matter; I still don't believe it."
"But this is not a dream. I came here to see what plan you have for this case?"
"Well, I'll send those recorded voices that you heard to the police."
Mr. Collins sneered and said: "What a plan! Those tapes prove that you were under pressure to do those things. This proves that you are not guilty; but this question arises: who was the one who put you under pressure? I thought your goal was to find that mysterious person; isn't it?"
Martin said: "Josh, what plan do you have for this matter?" Then he said to himself: "I don't trust you. Your actions are suspicious. You better think that I'm very careless and have no plans or work; but you, my dear brother, are under surveillance; I don't trust you."
"We have to find Scott and get him to confess so that we can give evidence to the police, but we shouldn't involve the police in this matter now."
Martin shifted his weight from one foot to the other and said to himself: "Josh, what plan do you have in your head? Should I believe that you want to hand over your brother to the police?!" Then he sat down on the ground and said: "Do you have his home address or work address?"
"Leave this to me. I'll do it myself."
"Don't you want to give me an address?"
"You can't bring the past back to life."
"You want to stop me but you can't do it."
Mr. Collins said: "Martin, you can't even get close to him unless you want to revive the pain and sorrow of the past; he has hated you for a long time, brother; I can't imagine what will happen to you if you go there." Mr. Collins was saying these words while his eyes were filled with worry and he didn't have the courage and ability to look directly into Martin's eyes.
Martin noticed this movement and it was strange to him, so he turned his head to not pay attention to Josh Collins anymore and said to himself: "Is this worry because of loving me or fear of me?! Maybe it's fear of me meeting Amy." After a few moments of silence, he looked at Josh's face again and said: "Let's forget this matter and discuss our plan again; okay?"
Mr. Collins, who had forgotten some of his worries, eagerly said: "Okay."
Martin, as he moved his hands back to lean on them and look more comfortable and careless than before, finally said after a while of silence: "Do you have his work address?"
"No, but I'll find it. I cut off contact with him because of supporting you. I haven't heard from him for a long time, but I'll find his address somehow. Don't worry."
Martin could not bear it anymore, he ran hard to his room, closed the door behind him and locked it so that no one could open it; he leaned on the door and said to himself: "Don't lie. Why are you lying? You are my brother; I trusted you like a real brother. Why are you lying to me? I'm afraid of this lie. Please don't lie." A few drops of tears took advantage of the opportunity and showed themselves on Martin's face.
Mr. Collins's voice came from behind the door, saying: "Martin, what happened? Open this door. Are you okay?"
Martin shouted: "Please leave me alone. I'm not well."
Josh, as he knocked on the door, said: "What happened?! Why are you crying? Tell me."
"I'm afraid of the future events; I'm afraid that the past will repeat itself."
"Don't be afraid, I'll help you Martin."
Martin said to himself: "I'm afraid of you. I wish you didn't lie; I wish you didn't support me falsely; I wish you were the same brother who helped me in the past; but you are not my brother, you are not anymore. You were never a real brother."
The truth was that Martin Holland broke down for the second time and reached the brink of destruction; he felt that everything had shattered and disappeared again; all that he knew from the past; all his beliefs and trust in his surroundings, especially his brother, burned and turned to ashes in the fire; the fire of anger that had engulfed Martin's whole being. He was tired of playing the role of a mad fool; he wanted to be a real madman; he wanted to wrap his hands around Josh's neck and squeeze until he confessed that he was lying, a big lie.
Martin, with difficulty, went to the drawer mirror that was in the room, and stood in front of it, looking directly at it; he remembered that years ago when he was upset, he sat on that bed and hid his head between his hands; he said: "I can't believe it, everything is lost; I'm destroyed." Josh knelt in front of him on the ground and, as he put his hand on his knee, said: "I'll help you, don't worry. I know you weren't guilty; I believe you, so I'll help you, okay?" After a few moments of silence, he said: "Be sure, brother."
Martin, as he still looked at the mirror, said in a soft and enchanted voice: "Liar. You're lying. You lied to me in the past too; I'll kill you. I swear I'll pay you back for this one day; if you've deceived me in this time; I know what to do."
