Chapter 3
"Hey, bro! Wake up!" I felt a nudge. I rose up, awakening from my slumber as I saw Denver, my other best friend, holding his food container with his spoon and fork on top of it. I stretched my arms and rubbed my eyes. He was still a little blurry but after some time, his face was evident. He gave me and irritated look. I lifted one eyebrow and looked at him in confusion. "What's up?"
"Uh. It's lunch time. You need to eat something, man! Get your food so I can devour your viand!" he laughed. I did what he told me to and grabbed my food container from the front pocket of my backpack. As I opened it, his eyes widened and a smile was evident on his face. I pushed my food container slightly forward so he can have some my viand. He grabbed his fork and stabbed the sausage from my container and began eating it along with a mountain of rice in his spoon entering his gigantic mouth.
He lifted his food container and offered some to me. It was adobo, which is my favorite by the way. I gave him a weak smile and got some of his viand. He noticed that I wasn't the usual "devour what's in front of you" type at the time and I could see it in the way he looks at me from time to time. We ate in silence.
He finished eating when I've just gone halfway. He waited for me to finish and when I did, I closed the container and put it back in my bag along with my spoon and fork. I was shocked as I sat back down because at this point, Denver was examining me. Looking at me from top to bottom as if I stole something. I looked at him sternly. At that, he just told one word that indicated that he wants to know something, "Spill."
Knowing Denver, once I hide things from him, he'll get it out of me. He will not leave me alone until I told him everything. He got the hint that I was hiding something. Since I was not in the mood for his antics and he is my best friend, I just told him the whole story. He couldn't believe what he has heard. He was speechless and I just shrugged.
"You'll find your answer." He said, patting my shoulder. I pat his hand which is placed on my shoulder and thanked him with a smile. He gave me a reassuring smile and left. I just sat there thinking about all that happened so far.
So my dream was something real. I just needed to find out the meaning of it. If there was a chance that it would happen to me in the future. Or there was a purpose behind it as they all say.

Class went on fast. I regained my composure from what I've read earlier and just listened and participated on the classes that followed.
At last! It was 5 pm and it was finally dismissal time. I quickly shoved my stuff into my backpack and lifted it and threw it in the pile of bags outside the room. Having done that, I just stood there, thinking of what to do next. Suddenly, a familiar voice was heard from the stairs.
"GRAY! IVORY! Where are you!? Come and give yo mama some love!" she yelled.
It was Ariana. She rushed down the stairs and tackled me with a hug. She was tall and had brown skin. She doesn't believe in blending in with the crowd so her usual uniform is the school skirt and on top is a white shirt and she wears sneakers. I know, weird right? But she can handle the get up.
"How dare you have fun without me!?" We lifted our heads and saw Ivory by the door frame of the room carrying her bag. She threw it at Ariana which she threw at the big pile of bags. They both hugged while I pat of the dust that got into my uniform.
Ivory is a bit shorter than me. She loves math which is weird. She understands everything math-related. She has light brown hair with a somewhat chubby but normal figure.
We formed this group called "The Baecons". We basically rant over everything and we have multiple fandoms. The influence of Twitter and Instagram has possessed us therefore altering our speech. Through seventh and eighth grade, we were classmates. But because fate is cruel, we had to be in separate classes once we were in ninth grade. Ivory and I are classmates while Ariana got separated from us. We're still angry with the faculty because of the damage they've done to our friendship. We only see and bond with each other during recess, lunch and dismissal.
We just laughed and told stories to each other until it was 6 pm and we all had to go home. Ivory and I rode the jeepney while Ariana and her cousin Jojo rode a tricycle. We went on our separate ways after we said goodbye.
"Hey, G." Ivory gave me a nudge. I faced her and said, "Yeah?"
"Come with me to the mall. I have to buy something."
"Oh sure!" I answered.
We arrived at the mall and entered. I escaped the guard who was checking the bags while Ivory was unlucky enough to be a victim of him. I laughed at her face as she was getting her bag checked.
I really don't know the purpose of the "check the bag with the stick" thing. Yes, I know that it is to make sure that there are no explosives are on our bag but 99% of the checking time, the guard just pokes the inside of our bag without even looking at it so to me, it was really pointless.
We headed to the school supplies section of the mall's department store and watched as Ivory got the things she needed to buy. We talked about some things while at the cashier.
"So I did not put x in there because it would just mess up the whole equation!" she yelled.
"Uh-uh. True. But seriously though, I never understood what you were talking about." I said with a laugh.
She punch my shoulder gently then proceeded to pay the things she grabbed. After that, we went on home. I stopped at the food stand by the exit door of the small to buy me some popcorn to satisfy my cravings.
We waved goodbye to each other and went our separate ways, she walked to the west, and I to the east. It was almost dark and I could sense that my mom was home. Truth is, I don't want to go home. But, I have to.
As soon as I arrived in front of our house, the dogs greeted me. They barked and wagged their tails with their tongues sticking out. I patted the two of them in their heads because they were just so adorable!
I opened the door and removed my shoes then I went to the kitchen to see my mom waiting for me equipped with her face of anger. As I approached her, she yelled.
"Why did you arrive home late!?" she shouted.
Ugh. Here we go again.
