Chapter 27

"Oh, Gray's here! We're complete!" Jet said as I approached them.

"Complete? Vince is not here yet." I responded.

"Oh, Vince told us he isn't coming because he and his mom are going somewhere today. Basically, it's just four of us." Janette replied.

"Why are you holding a baby?" I said pointing to Denver who was carrying a child in his arms, fast asleep.

"We met these kids while we waited. We obviously became close so quick, haha." Janette said.

I was supposed to respond when I was startled by a familiar voice coming from behind me.

"Gray!"

I turned around to see that one of the children I evangelized is approaching me with a big smile on his face. Anna, Jane and Lea are nowhere to be found. From what I recall, he was the kid who wore a blue shirt.

"Oh! Wow, you remember me! What is your name, by the way? I didn't get the chance to ask last week."

"Charlie!" he responded with a smile.

I crouched at a position where we were at the same height. "Charlie. Want to accompany us in evangelizing today?" I asked.

He nods and I gave him a high five.

"Let's start! Let's go over there and pray for a sec." Denver said as she hands over the sleeping child to her sister.

We went to the place where a monument was located and prayed. Today is the date we have agreed to evangelize people. We chose a Saturday for we knew that there would be plenty of people here and what's amazing was that, we were all free and have already finished our homework the night before. We gathered here at the city plaza at 8 am which sadly, wasn't followed because I was 5 minutes late.

"Amen!" We concluded.

"Okay, so we will split into pairs. I go with Gray and Janette, you go with Jet." Denver explained.

"What about me?" Charlie added.

"Want to join us, buddy?" I asked.

"Yes!" he responded cheerfully.

"So it's settled. Before lunch, we end our evangelism. Let's get started!" I said. And with that, we split up and went our separate ways to evangelize people. Denver, Charlie and I went to the right side of the city plaza while Janette and Jet took the left side.

"Oh, God, lead me to the person you wish to be evangelized" I whisper.

As I was searching for a person to evangelize, I noticed that Denver and Charlie have found an old man to evangelized. When Denver saw me face him, he gestured for me to find a person.

I looked and waited for the perfect opportunity and the perfect person that God would choose.

There.

As I heard that, I was looking at a mother who was taking care of her child. Like the children I first evangelized, they were beggars. I approached them without hesitation and sat beside her. She gave me a confused look.

"Hey! How are you?" I ask. When Denver and I were being taught by Colin and the other church leaders on how to evangelized, they said that we should start with a normal conversation and when the mood is up, we insert the topic of evangelism.

"I'm fine." She responded with a smile.

"She's cute!" I gesture at the baby. "What's her name?"

"Alicia" she responds.

I make a funny face and cute little Alicia laughs which makes her mother to the same.

"Do you mind if I preach about God?" I finally ask.

"No, not at all. In fact, I don't get to talk with people this often."

"Okay, then. Let's pray first"

I initiate the prayer and watched her as she prayed. She looks so sincere and with high faith. One other thing that they taught us is that we should not close our eyes when praying and just watch the person we are evangelizing to ensure that he/she is listening.

"Amen." We conclude in unison.

I open my evangelism notebook (which is basically a subject notebook I use at school with very few pages because this notebook has not been used for the subject it was designated to) and started.

The evangelism turned out great! She was listening and she even called her other children to join in. As I ask the questions, they respond. It's heartwarming to have heard their story and how God has changed their lives.

"Actually, last night I prayed for a blessing. You are an answered prayer." She says to me. It softened my heart to have been a contributor to her inspiration. It was an amazing feeling to have heard those words and I even shed a tear which she didn't notice because I wiped it right away.

We concluded in prayer and she thanked me. I was supposed to stand up and leave when..

"Wait. I want you to evangelize my mother." She asks of me as I begin to stand.

"Oh, sure! Where is she?" I ask. She stands up and leads me to her mother. She told me to stay in where I'm standing as she approached her mother who was sitting, staring at the outside world blocked by the metal bars of the plaza's fence.

I couldn't hear what they were talking about but I got the idea when her mother looked at me and smiled.

I approached them when she gestured for me to come. "Thank you for doing this. Let's start." She said.

I told her that we should pray and she did. Grace, the lady I evangelized before her, joined in our prayer and when we concluded, they opened their eyes and began lending their ears to mine.

"So, do you know why asked you to evangelize my mother?" Grace said.

I looked at her smiling mother and turn to her with a confused look.

"Hmm. Is it because you want her to hear the word, too?" I ask.

She smiles and replied, "Close. I asked you to evangelize her because she needs a reason to believe again."

======================================

Hey, ho! Announcement time!

August 26th was the date that the first chapter of this book was published and in 2 days, it's going to be the 8th month of the book! Whoo! It's going to be a double chapter day! HAHA. I've thought of initiating a cover making contest but I suck at editing covers (which by the way was the 1st prize for the champion) so yeah, I've thought of making it a double chapter day hahaha.

Also, no updates from April 30 to May 3. That is because I'll be leaving for a summer leadership training camp. Whoopee! Hahahaha.

Anyway, gimme your thoughts! What do you think is the story behind Grace's mother? Why does she want to believe again? I want to know your next chapter predictions! Comment down below!

All the love, guys!

God bless you!
