Chapter 26
It's a Thursday night and we're having dinner.
Over this past month, my Christianity has not been a topic that's tackled by the family because I stopped going to Sunday services since my persecution and I just settle for the Friday service at school.
The voice of the news anchor can be heard from the living room to the dining table. Mom and dad watch the news as they eat but me and Matt can't see because we face the other direction.
I was eating my rice and viand when suddenly, I heard a news report that shook me.
"NASA has announced that 5 planets have aligned: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Jupiter have formed a straight line. From the Philippines, the 3 planets can be seen at dawn." Said the news reporter.
5 planets? Straight line?
I remembered my 1st dream.
In that dream, I saw 7 planets align while I was falling.
Thinking about my dream gave me goosebumps. It's not a coincidence that 5 planets would align shortly after my dream. Could it be a message? A message that Jesus is coming soon?
5 planets have aligned and there are 2 more to go. Of course it's a rare occurrence but needless to say, it may happen sometime.
I need to testify this at the service.
======================================
It's Friday and sadly, it's not a holiday.
I woke up earlier than my alarm which is a rare occurrence. I hurried downstairs and ate my breakfast. Actually, my everyday breakfast is composed of just energy drinks. I'm not talking about Gatorade or something like that. Just those chocolate milk drinks with cereal flakes in them. That breakfast lasts me until second period most of the time.
I did my typical morning routine and hurried to school. I don't know why but I feel as if today is a good day!
======================================
I stand corrected.
It's boring and it's not even lunch time yet. I just endured the boring lectures by playing with my phone. And yes, I've written some notes but good thing I took pictures of everything being flashed or written on the board.
Lunch has passed and it's English time. Our teacher came in and we greeted her. Before starting the lecture, she raised what seems to be a script or something. "Okay, class, this is the script of the emcees of last year's prom!" she explained.
Prom.
I kind of feel excited for prom because it's actually my first time attending in such. In our school, only 9th and 10th grade students are allowed to go to prom because given that our school is a public school, thousands of students would occupy the venue given the two grade levels.
"Every year, the 9th grade has been the host of the Promenade therefore it is but fitting that our masters of ceremonies come from the 9th grade! I'm tasked to choose people in your class to audition for the part of being an emcee! I'm giving the copy of the script so you can all practice at home."
I know for sure that I'm one of the picks. I'm not bragging, it's just that in our school I've been chosen to be an emcee in a couple of events and I'm always the first choice for a male emcee in several occasions.
"Okay, so first is Gray..."
I told you so.
Upon hearing my name, I stood up and got the copy of the script. I didn't listen when she announced the others as I was busy reading the script in advance. I have to say, I'm excited! It's going to be my second time being an emcee wearing a tuxedo, the first being the time when I was an emcee in our school's English festival in 6th grade. That is, if I'm lucky enough to pass through auditions.
"The auditions will be held next week! Practice and give it your all, students!" my teacher finished before moving on to our lesson.
I wasn't listening. I was reading the script in my mind and practicing it. Not to be a hog or anything but I want this so bad.
In between discussions, my name was called along with Janette. Upon hearing my name, I quickly stopped reading the script and looked at my teacher with a confused expression.
"Both of you, come here. Someone wanted to give you this." She said as she handed over two sheets of half folded paper to each of us. As I returned to my seat, I read what it was all about.
1st Children's Summit on Health
Oh. It's an invitation! Although I was happy and all, I couldn't help but be confused as to why only me and Janette were the only ones who were given the invitation. I opened the invitation and read the program. As I was reading, I couldn't help but feel excited and nervous at the same time as I read the bottom-most part of that specific page:
Gray Mitchell and Janette Clover
Masters of Ceremonies
I remained composed as I read the words but on the inside, I was screaming and jumping and dancing with fireworks in the background! I looked up and smiled for I knew that God was the reason for this. This is my first time hosting a city-wide event! This is the reason why I never regret having met God in the first place. He opens doors for me, first times included.
Class went by and it was finally dismissal time. I went home in a hurry to announce to my parents the good news of my audition and me being an emcee in a city-wide event.
Upon arriving at home, I screamed "Mom! Dad! Im going to be an emcee on a city-wide event!"
"You don't need to shout! We're just here!" Dad yelled back.
Because of my excitement, I didn't realize that they were just in the kitchen which is like 10 steps from where I am. I ran to them quickly and showed the invitation that was given earlier.
"Wow! That's amazing! How did you get in?" Mom asked.
"I don't really know but it's so amazing, right?" I answered and they nodded.
There it was. Their smiles. Oh I've been longing to see them smile because of me and now, I've seen those genuine smiles! I looked up again with a smile, of course, without my parents noticing. I have to say, God nailed it. TWICE!
