Chapter 12
"What does it mean?" I ask her.
"Well, your dream serves as a message to those you saw. Let's start with Regina. She's holding thorns because she may be going through something hard as of the moment." She answered with a soft voice. My classmates are still answering in their notebooks. Nothing could be heard except the soft whisper of counting and the sound of the buttons of scientific calculators being pressed either gently or furiously.
"It doesn't show in her features. She seems to be happy everyday. It's either that, or I just really don't notice it."
"Well dear, what you see is her outside appearance. She's trying to cover up her hardships with a smile but deep down, she's hurt." I nodded at her response and she continued. "Anyway, she may be in the stage of giving up. You must tell her that whatever it is that she's going through, she must remain strong, keep her faith in God because at the end of this race, there will be eternal comfort."
"We're not really that close. Can't you tell her?" I asked after I glanced at Regina.
"God chose you as His messenger and you know what a messenger's job is. You can do it." she replied.
I sighed. "Okay then. What about Christy?"
"Oh, Christy. She's holding roses right? So God wants her to know that all her achievements are made possible by the Lord. Maybe she's forgetting to thank God. Remind her of this." she answered.
"Well, come to think of it, Christy has a lot of achievements lately." I said, glancing at Christy.
"That just leaves us to Denver. He's carrying a slightly damaged cross. This means that one day, Denver will serve the Lord and the damaged cross signifies His endurance through the trials that He will face. Tell Him of your dream and it will change Him from now on." Pastor Smith said.
"Wow. Yes, I will." I answered with a smile. She smiled back and went to turn to the class "Well, time's up! Exchange your notebooks with your seatmates." she yelled and the entire class did so.

After Math, it was obviously recess and it was the time that I would tell Regina, Christy and Denver of my dream along with the interpretation Pastor Smith has given. Once I put my things back in my bag, I then looked for them. The first person I saw was Christy, who was finishing her portfolio. I walked to her seat and sat at the vacant seat beside her.
"Hey, Gray! What's up?" she greeted.
"Hey! Uhm. I just want you to know about my dream last night. You see, you were in that dream." I said.
"Really? Tell me all about it! Is it bad?" she stopped what she was doing and turned to face me.
"No, not at all. In my dream, you were carrying roses and entered the gates of Heaven. I talked to Mrs. Smith about it awhile ago and I asked if she could interpret it. She said that it was a reminder that God wants you to be reminded that you should thank Him for your achievements." I said. Her smile disappeared and it turned into a frown. Her eyes widened as if she was hit with realization.
"O-oh. Lately, I've stopped praying. Ever since I entered the top ten this quarter, I devoted my time to my studies and forgot to pray every night. Thanks for reminding me, Gray. Starting tonight, I'll catch up with Him and pray before I sleep." she said with a smile. I smiled back and stood up. Leaving her a wave as she resumed the task she was doing.
I spotted Regina when she entered the room with Karina. When Regina sat in her chair, I approached her. She seemed serious.
"Uhm Regina?" I sat beside her. She was surprised. She tried to cover up her seriousness with a smile as she greeted me. "Oh hello, Gray!"
"So I had this dream last night" I started "and you were in it."
"Oh? What was I doing in that dream?" she asked.
"Well, you were carrying a lot of thorns as you entered the gates of Heaven. The Lord wants you to know that whatever it is you're going through, be strong and have faith in Him for there is eternal comfort at the end of this race." I said.
It was obvious that she was fighting back the tears that were daring to come out of her eyes. She answered me with sadness in her tone "Wow. God notices me. You see, we are going through a family problem as of the moment and I feel like giving up. This reminder what I needed. Thank you, Gray. You made my day."
I stood up and said "It's not me. I'm just a messenger. God made it all possible. I will also pray for your family." I smiled at her and she returned it with a smile then I turned around and proceeded to look for Denver.
I looked around the room and my eyes stopped at Denver who was at the back part of the room eating his food while looking at the wall that contained the wishlists of everyone for our Christmas Party. I walked to him and I stopped beside him.
"I still haven't decided on what to put in my wishlist and Christmas party is on Friday!" he yelled in anger. I laughed at him and he turned to me. He took a deep breath and greeted me "Hey, Gray! What's up, my brother?"
"Well, I had another dream last night." I started.
"Was it a continuation of the first one? Did you fall then rise up again to Heaven?" he asked excitedly.
"No. That would be cool though! But anyway, you were in my dream. You were carrying a damaged cross to the gates of Heaven." I started.
His expression changed as he said, "What does that mean? I saw you talking to Mrs. Smith awhile ago so I assume that dream was your topic."
"Yes, it was. It means that you will one day serve the Lord with all your heart. The damaged cross represents your endurance through the trials that will be going your way as you become Christ's follower." I said.
A tear cam out of his left eye and he immediately wiped it off. "You're making me cry, bro!" he laughed. "Wow. I don't know what to say. Uhm. Aha! Now I know what I want as a gift on our Christmas party. Pass me one of those post-it notes, will you?"
I did as I was told and got a post-it note from the table and handed it to him. I tried to look at what he was writing but he covered it. "Wait! It's a surprise!" he yelled. I rolled my eyes as I waited. As he posted his wishlist, I immediately read it.
Denver Farrell
1. BIBLE (priority)
2. Number 1
3. Number 1 or 2 :)
I turned to him as he looked at his wishlist with a smile. Then he turned to me and hugged me. "Wha-?" He interrupted my response from his surprise attack. "Shut up! Haha. Thanks, Gray! I needed that. Once I get that Bible, I'll follow Christ. No one shall stop me!" he let go of me and I could see the determination in his face which made me smile.
"It was the Lord, bro. I'm just the messenger." I replied. With that, he looked up and winked. He gave me one last smile and he got back to his seat, finishing off the rest of his food.
I returned to my seat as well and grabbed my biscuits from my bag and enjoyed the last minutes of recess. As I ate, I couldn't help but be happy at the thought that Mrs. Smith's interpretation made a huge impact on Regina, Denver and Christy.
Man, being a messenger is cool! I have the satisfaction of witnessing lives being changed because of God's message to them!
Being a messenger is so amazing!
