Sophomore Year: Two
Sarada sat on a bench in the park, her eyes frantically looking for Chocho. It was their first time talking since her party and that was almost six months ago. She checked her phone for the time.
7:00
They had an hour, before school started, to talk and Sarada needed this. Especially if her suspicions were true.
"Sarada? What's wrong? You sounded a little out of it on the phone yesterday." Sarada looked up to see Chocho sitting on the bench next to her, worry etched onto her face.
"Yeah, I'm good." They looked at each other. The silence was a little awkward but not as bad as they thought it would be. "How are you?"
"I'm fine but you called." Sarada looked away. "S-"
"I think my mom might be pregnant." Chocho sucked in a breath.
"Pregnant?" Sarada nodded. "You're in high school. That's a pretty long time to wait before having another child. Are you sure she's just not getting fat."
"You're really questioning me? I practically grew up in the hospital. I know what all stages of a pregnancy look like. Also, my observations and research are usually never wrong." Sarada defended with a little glare. Chocho laughed.
"Okay, yeah, that's true but fifteen years?"
"A huge gap, I know. Also at thirty-five, it's a high risk pregnancy but my mom's been studying medicine since she was twelve. She knows what she's doing. Plus, she'll have me and my father is around more. There really is no issue." Sarada calmly explained. She was talking like she always did, rationally with no emotions.
"How do feel about this possibility?" Sarada froze. She never really stopped to think about that before.
"What do you mean? It's a good thing. A baby. It would most likely bring my parents closer together and strengthen their relationship. Not only that but countless studies show that two children families tend to be happier, especially if both are girls." Chocho opened her mouth to say something but Sarada was quicker. "My research also states that happiness in parents increase before and after their first and second child's birth before going back to their pre-child happines. Happiness is always an upside. Especially considering-"
"Sarada."
"Chocho." They stared at each other for while. Sarada's face was blank and Chocho rolled her eyes. Chocho was the first to break eye contact because Sarada's face was unsettling. Sarada checked the time on her phone.
7:45
"We have to go." The Uchiha stood and started walking out the park. Her shoulders were pulled back in her perfect posture but her usually confident walk was stiff. She seemed to be closed into herself and was trying to make herself smaller. Chocho watched sadly as one of the most important people in her life become something she wasn't.
"Sarada. I'm so sorry."
************
Througout the day Chocho kept an eye on Sarada. She noticed how quiet she had become. She sat in the back now with her new friends. She wasn't raising her hand to answer questions or correct teachers. Her usually expressive face stayed blank and lacked emotion. Sarada never wore red or pink anymore. Any trace of her signature colors were gone. She only ever wore blacks, grays, and whites. Chocho felt terrible for not realizing how much Sarada was changing and how sad she was.
Chocho's heart hurt.
Her best friend wasn't her best friend anymore.
************
"Yo, Sarada!" Two girls ran up to her. The taller girl had short, dark brown hair and was wearing a light green crop top with brown shorts. The other had light brown hair in two ponytails and was wearing orange capris with a matching sweater. Sarada acted confused.
"And you are?" The two girls looked at each other, the orange girl clearly sad.
"I told you she might not remember us..." The shorter girl mumbled with a pout on her face. The taller girl shrugged her shoulders.
"Wasabi and Namida." The girl in green replied with a roll of her eyes.
"Oh?" The shorter girl's, Namida's, eyes started to water and her bottom lip quivered. Sarada stepped back in shock. The last time she saw one of her classmates cry was when they were on a school trip in sixth grade and this girl saw a dragonfly. Namida was that girl. She felt a little bad for making her cry but she knew Wasabi would calm her down. Namida and Wasabi, relationship goals since day one.
"Sorry about her. She's...emotional." Then Wasabi turned and hugged Namida to her chest. Namida wrapped her arms around the taller girls waist and buried her face in her chest. Sarada and Wasabi made eye contact, the Uchiha winked. Wasabi smiled.
"I knew this was stupid and that she wouldn't remember us and that you're stupid..." Namida cried harder. "Of course she would forget! She's too popular now. And her party made me feel so bad and she hates us!"
Sarada watched as Wasabi tried to calm Namida down. She chuckled at the amusing sight infront of her and nearly burst out laughing when Namida started crying harder. Of course she remembered them and it was clear that Wasabi knew that. Namida was another story.
"Hey, Nami. I was joking." Sarada told the crying girl. Wasabi giggled as the shorter girl let her go and wiped her tears.
"You're not funny! I actually thought you forgot me which is scary because you were talking to us just last week." Namida sniffled as she wiped her eyes in her sleeve. This time Wasabi did laugh. Namida turned to her. "You knew?" Wasabi nodded but could barely contain the laughs coming from her mouth.
Chocho looked away from her conversation with Inojin and Shikadai to see Sarada joking with two girls they hadn't talked to in years. Two girls Chocho, now, officially envied. Only a little. When she finally zoned back in Inojin was waving a hand infront her eyes.
"Leave her alone. She doesn't even play the game. Why would she care?" Shikadai sighed as he leaned back against his locker, his eyes drooping. Inojin stopped. The Akimichi bit the inside of her cheek in guilt but that didn't stop her from sending another glance at the three girls. Sarada was smiling again. Something she hadn't seen all day. It made her happy.
************
Boruto loved his baby sister to death and would do anything for her. Even if it meant suspension.
That's exactly what happened when he got into another fight with Inojin. It was actually more of a beat down because, just like before, Inojin didn't fight back. It irked him. Why was that blonde idiot acting like he was the victim? Boruto leaned back in his chair as he stared at the headmaster. Iruka Umino. His mother stood behind him with a frown on her face.
"Boruto. I've been letting you off the hook for the past four years. You've been pulling pranks, getting into fights, and I've only ever given you detention or community service."
"I never asked you to do that. I don't need to be babied." Boruto mumbled as he looked at his bruised fists.
"I know but I've given you the benefit of the doubt and thought you would give up on this stupid rebellious stage. You did for while but then a student came into my office a few months before break to tell me they saw you beating up Inojin." Hinata gasped.
"Then why wasn't I suspended then."
"Because Inojin told me that you guys weren't actually fighting, that you were joking around. I believed him but now I'm not so sure. It's only the first week of school, Boruto."
"No shit."
"Watch your language!" Hinata exclaimed. Her face was covered in shock.
"Yeah, whatever. Why not just expel me since I'm such a burden?"
"You don't mean that, sweetie." Hinata said as she placed a hand on her son's shoulder. He shrugged it off and stood from his chair.
"Yeah I do." Boruto walked out of the room and slammed the door behind him.
Sophomore year was not going to be good.
A/N
1357 words.
Longest chapter in a while. We love long things!😉
Just kidding.
Damn, that was a lot of drama for one chapter. The pregnancy, two new characters, and Boruto being a dick. Shook. I'm living for it.
I did actual research for this chapter. Sarada's pregnancy facts, I got from actual articles and research studies. I also no nothing about suspensions because, for the last 11 years, I've never been in trouble at school and I don't plan on changing that anytime soon. I finished this chapter earlier today and I wanted to update it tomorrow like it's supposed to but I was too eager to wait so yeah.
