Chapter XXXII
Zel stood in front of her mother's grave. Her mother had died when she was only three due to a terrible illness, she was told.
Zel had her mother's long blonde hair, or so everyone would tell her. Her eyes were the same deep blue as her father's. She had grown up to be very similar to her parents.
She sat down in the dead grass next to her mother's gravestone. She remembered that there wasn't a funeral, but they still gave her a stone. It was in the middle of Hyrule field, a wide area often used for travel. There wasn't any reason for this location, but Zel felt happy her mother's stone was here, the crossroads of all travelers so everyone could see the representation of her life.
Zel cleared her throat a bit. No one was there but herself. "Hey, mom... I don't really know what to say. People tell me I resemble you, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. I take it as a compliment, but I can barely remember your face. Dad says that you were beautiful, so I guess I'll take his word on that.
"Tomorrow is my eighteenth birthday, so I'll officially be an adult. Dad said I'll be taking over as the new ruler of Hyrule soon, but I'm scared. I know that you had been in this same place once upon a time and I should be brave like you were, but I worry myself. I'll never be able to meet the expectations of everyone.
"It's funny I'm talking to a grave stone and yet I don't really feel alone. Isn't that strange? I'm comfortable. Does that mean you're watching over me, mom? I'm not quite sure how often I'll be able to visit now, but thank you anyways.
"I really hope I'll be able to set a good example for Hyrule. I don't really know where to start though.
"I think Dad's been having a hard time recently. He's slower than normal and seems to almost be shutting down. But don't worry, I'm sure he'll be fine! He really misses you though, mom." She bit her tongue. She didn't really know what else to say. "Thank you."
Zel stood up and brushes the dirt off herself. She smiled at her mother's stone. Zelda. She was always glad they shared the same name, even if it had only been for tradition.
Next to Zelda's stone was another that was dear to Zel's heart. Impa. Or as she knew her, Grandma Impa.
She had to head home. Her birthday was tomorrow and preparations were still not complete. Before she left, however, she whispered a thank you to her grandmother figure as well.

Link smiled as he sat himself down next to Zelda's grave. "Hey, Zelda. I'm wearing that heroes tunic you always seemed to love. I don't know why though, I've really made a mess out of it.
"I thought I'd pay you a visit. And guess what? Our daughter is finally an adult now. She's grown into a fine girl, she reminds me of you. She's so reckless, but she really is a blessing.
"Thank you. It seems like I'll be joining you soon. I guess time travel really took it's toll on me, but it's okay. I can't wait to see you again. I just worry. But our daughter will be fine. She's a strong girl, just like you."
Link smiled at the stone. He knew his life was ending premature, the same as Zelda's had. It was because of all his travels in time putting incredible strain on his body. That strain had finally caught up with him. He would spend his last moments at her grave.
He had gone fifteen years without her and he was ready to finally go home.
"I'll be there soon."
Link left with no regrets. Every tear that had been shed had led him to his destination. All his dreams came true, three years of them was enough. Time is precious so it must be spent well.
And who knows? Maybe, one day Zelda and Link will reunite and live a full life. But for now, they had enough. They had no regrets.

Okay so this is technically the end. So like, I don't know, did you all like it?
I can do some behind the scenes stuff if anyone's intestered. I actually planned this all out before I wrote it (a super rare thing for me) so yee.
I actually planned the ending first.
Anyways, I'll try and post a new fic within a couple days :)
Also sorry this chapter was short!
