Chapter Twenty Nine
MUSIC PLAYED SOFTLY ON the radio as we drove. I stared out the window my thoughts on the events this morning. He let me touch him! I finally had the chance to give him the same pleasure that he gave me.
"So how long have you and Kate been friends?"
I glanced at him with a frown shifting slightly on the seat.
"We've been friends ever since the schools joined. Kate and I were in the same class. We started talking and clicked, after that Dane and Delilah joined and we've become a group." I explained softly the thought of my other friends making sadness full me.
I got a message from Dane this morning that he send to me just a little after twelve last night. Nothing from Delilah or my family. Did they forget?
"Have your family contacted you yet?" Stephen asked softly placing a hand on my bare thigh.
I shook my head tears slightly filling my eyes. Blinking them away I gave him a bright smile. I will not let this dampen my mood. It's my birthday today, they know that and they should call me not me them.
"Where are we going?"
He chuckled glancing at me before focusing back on the road. "It's a surprise baby."
After a few more minutes of driving he turned off into a MacDonald's drive thru. Stephen ordered a double Mac and fries for himself while I ordered a foldover. After arguing on the drink I took a vanilla milkshake and him a coke.
We talked about random shit as we drove further. No matter what I try, I can't trick him into telling me where we are going. He has that sexy smirk on his lips, his eyes laughing at me as I tried one last time.
"I'm not telling you." Stephen said softly eating another fry.
I sighed leaning back in my seat. Finishing my foldover I wipe my mouth and fingers with the tissue. We drove for about an hour more before he turned off onto a bumpy dirt road. In front of us is a make shift parking lot, people are walking and standing around. There has to be close to a thousand, maybe even more, people.
"What?" I turned to look at him wide eyed.
"You like music, I figured it will be a great present to bring you here." He smiled at me parking the truck in an empty space.
Jumping down I watched wide eyed as a couple made out against a car. I couldn't stop the smile from forming on my lips. I can hear music coming from somewhere. Stephen locked the truck walking around to my side.
"Some rules baby." He said softly making me look up at him. "There are a lot of fucking people here, I don't want you to get lost because anything can happen. Rule number one, don't take drinks from anyone but me. Rule two if you want to go to the bathroom tell me and I will take you. Rule number three don't ever, no matter what, go with anyone. If something happens and we get separated you call me, if you can't look for a security guard and they will help you. Got it?"
I nod smiling up at him. "I got it."
"Good." He pecked my lips reaching into his pocket and pulling something out. "Here."
My eyes dropped to the black switchblade he held in his palm. He showed me how it works then slipped it in the pocket of my dress.
"In case something happens." His lips brushed against my forehead as his hand slipped in mine. "I hope that isn't your favourite dress."
I frowned not really understanding what he meant. In front of us loomed a large building. There is a row of people going on for what seems like miles. Are we even going to get in?
"Don't let go of my hand."
I nod silently biting my lip as we neared the crowd. Instead of walking to the back we squeezed through the entrance.
"Hey." Stephen called pulling me in front of him with his arms on either side of my waist. "Is Johan in?"
The man behind the counter gave a stiff nod yelling out to someone behind him. I glanced up at Stephen, he gave me a reassuring smile. About two minutes later a large bulging man appeared. He's completely bold, tattoo's on his head and arms. The man looks fucking scary.
"Daniels." His dark eyes dropped to me his lips pulling up in a smirk. "Come round the back."
Placing his hand on my hip he guided me around the counter and down a hall. We passed two doors before stopping and entering what looks to be like a lounge. The man stood at a table sorting through something.
"It's a good thing you called last week. It was sold out by Friday." Johan glanced at us frowning down at the stuff in his hand.
Stepping further into the room Stephen's hands dropped as he walked past me.
"Here."
Stephen took two purple plastic armbands from him. Walking over to me he ordered me to hold out my hand. I watched silently as he tied it around my wrist holding out the other so could do the same to him.
"Here's your tickets." He held out two tickets the same colour as the armbands.
Stephen took them giving the man a nod in thanks. My body tensed as the man turned to look at me.
"Hope that isn't your favourite dress."
I soon found out what they meant when we walked out of the building. There are stalls all around. Food, drinks, games everything you can think of, it's there. People are walking around half dressed, there bodies covered in colour powders and paint.
I glanced up at Stephen just as he glanced down at me. Our eyes locked making me smile. This is fucking amazing!
"The show starts in an hour. Want to take a look around?"
I nod taking everything in as we walked through the stalls. Here and there some people will greet us with a smile or wave. We played a few games and I managed to win a small keychain. And that was how far my luck went.
Thankfully the sun wasn't up, but it's still hot, I can feel my hair sticking to my neck. By the time we made it to the large stage set up a few feet away from the stalls, we were both covered in paint and powder.
It's like a colour music festival.
Some bands that played are well known and others not. We stood right at the front getting a great view of the stage. Stephen stood behind me his arms caging me in front of him. He's also keeping me protected from the huge audience. Who knew people would be so aggressive at these things?
I yelled and cheered along with the others. Loosing myself in the music and forgetting everything else in the world. All my problems are pushed away, it's just me and Stephen.
"Lost in your mind, I wanna know am I losing my mind? Never let me go." Stephen sang along his lips brushing my ear.
I smiled wrapping my arms around his neck as we moved together.
"If this night is not forever. At least we are together. I know I'm not alone. I know I'm not along. Anywhere, whenever. Apart, but still together. I know I'm not alone." I sang grinding my ass against his front.
Stephen's hands dropped to my hips his lips trailing down my neck as we got lost in our own world.
I don't know for how long we spent there, but eventually the weather caught up with us. It was in the middle of a performance when the sky broke open. It started raining lightly, just a few drops here and there but then it started falling harder.
"Come on!" Stephen grabbed my hand guiding me through the scattering crowd.
By the time we made it back to the truck our clothes are soaking wet. Most of the colours have been washed off by the rain. Stephen unlocked the car helping me up before walking around it getting in.
I laughed leaning my head back against the seat.
"We danced in the rain!" I told him softly turning to watch him.
He chuckled starting the truck, reversing out of the parking. Traffic was slow moving as most of the people decided to leave. The rain is falling harder now making it almost impossible to see.
"Are we going back home now?" I broke the silence as he turned onto the main road.
"It was the plan." He slowed the truck hitting the horn as a truck drove in front of us. "But with the rain if it gets any worse we will have to stop."
We drove for about half an hour when he had to stop somewhere. Stephen pulled into a fuel station. We sat in a truck silently listening to the rain. I'm starting to get cold, my skin forming goosebumps.
"Can't we just book into a hotel?" I asked softly wrapping my arms around myself.
"We don't have a choice." He muttered starting the truck.
We drove in silence, anger radiated from him which confused me. Is he angry at me for asking about the hotel? Did he want to go home?
"Remember that day in my room?" He glanced at me. "I have been planning this day for weeks. Every single detail and now the weather has fucked it up."
"Stephen." I smiled over at him. "This day has been the best, even with the rain cutting it short."
He smiled at me but I could tell that he's still pissed at the weather. I still can't believe that he planned this all, even after our fight last night. I thought that because of that, things between us would be awkward. I guess it's only awkward if you make it so.
We entered a small town driving through the deserted streets until we found an hotel. Running up the steps to the door we entered the lobby. An old woman sat behind the counter reading a book.
"Afternoon." Stephen said softly leaning his elbow on the counter.
"Oh." The woman snapped her book closed standing up with a smile. "Hello, I'm sorry I was so caught in the book I didn't even hear you enter."
I gave her a small smile stepping closer to Stephen trying to steal some of his body warmth.
"That's okay, uu do you have any open rooms?"
"Just a minute dear." She leaned down appearing with a black thick book.
Leaving through it she opened it on a page. With her finger she scanned the words stopping with a quite 'ah'.
"You're in luck. One couple just cancelled because of the rain, so we have a room. Is it just you two?" She glanced between us with a raised eyebrow.
"Just the two of us."
We handled all the formalities before the lady handed over the room keys. Slipping his hand into mine he led me towards the elevator. My heartbeat began increasing as we got closer and closer to our floor.
The doors opened and we stepped out walking down the hall. Stephen unlocked the door stepping aside for me to enter.
The room is simple, red walls, red carpet, dark grey bedcovers. With a medium sized window, a bathroom and a double bed pushed up against the wall.
"Are you hungry?" He asked softly eyes trailing around the room before landing on me.
"A little." I glanced out the window frowning at the rain.
"I'll go get us something to eat while you get warm." Giving me a small smile he pulled me against him.
A giggle fell from my lips but it soon died down as his lips captured mine. Moaning I pressed my body against his feeling the now familiar heat flashing through me.
He broke away first sucking in a deep breath. "Go shower."
