58.3:"Lost in questions"

She watches as he whispers something that pales Omar to the level she thought he will pass out. With a very rough push to Omar, he starts to stride confidently.

He pauses with a frown when he didn't find her presence around him. He can feel her presence. Maybe because it's what his devil craves. To have an angel around him to ground him.

He switches his eyes to meet her as she stands there watching him unsure. He knows her insecurity isn't from him. It's to the fact that what she should do next. That will she have to face that bastard again. She just didn't know that he was a step ahead of her. There was no way he wasn't going to revenge for her sake. He was going to just differently. Because well he can't let her down if she finds that he went his ways to that bastard.

He bellows her gently as he forwards his hand just to drive her near him, not for her to take. He will never do something inappropriate.

Just like the moth to a fire her feet carries her directly in front of him as he withdraw his hand almost instantly when she was in reach. The frown ever so lightly disappeared from his beautiful face and those darkened eyes were so soft as they look down at her.

She realize that she was very short in height from him. She frowns when she has to raise her head to look at him and he seems to realize why she is frowning as he chuckles lowly enough to cause sensation within her.

It was a very low husky sound almost as he wasn't fond of it. Like it was caged away for years that now it fears to come out.

"It's not all bad". He said, with a small hint of a smile still lingering on his face

She scoffed, "Yeah? Do you want to have a free trial? You won't be able to reach high shelves where all the good things are especially chocolates. And you can't do most of the things you do now".

He takes her in as she rants away, "I guess it's bad for you but not for me".

"Why?"

"Because I like how I can look at you this way". His words came out naturally as he told himself that he was speeding up, shit, he was on a train at this point flashing through the rails

"I need to get to the library". She said in a whisper as she turns to look at the empty corridor not sure if she can ever go this way again

"Hey". He said softly and her eyes immediately connected to his taking his breath away because as much as he could glimpse in them when they have met in the night- they were just another world in the daylight, like fresh flowers, "Do you want to walk with me there?"

She shakes her head, "I don't mean to disturb you".

"Nonsense. This is all that I want to do right now. No better place". He shrugs as he starts to walk towards the library before she can protest

She sighs in relief because she genuinely wants to go to the library for some peace. Books around her and no people helps ease her anxiety and the library is big so not many people are there. Also, she needs to eat her lunch. She can't eat in front of people. She just can't do anything normal.

He enters first opening the door for her wider as she sidesteps inside not before passing a small smile to him.

She moves towards the place she always hides in when she continues to feel his presence. As much as she wants him to stay she didn't want him to feel obligated because of her. She just doesn't want him to do anything he didn't want. And her overthinking was killing her because she felt like she should be guilty that she was stopping him from his work. Why is that woman feel guilt for every little thing? Or they are taught to feel that.

She didn't realize that he was standing in front of her with his hands in his pocket as he gazes down at her as if reading all the torments and suffering out loud.

He watches just how beautifully her lashes shield her evenly beautiful eyes. And he wants to be someone who shields her in similar ways. Watching her panicking even when he didn't think much of it back then because he was busy glaring at a specific bastard. He can't shake off the fear that she had in her eyes. He wants to find the source of it so he can have a good session with them.

"What are you overthinking about?"

How did he know? Did she say all that out loud? How can she be so dumb? She knows she shouldn't have started studying because she wasn't even good enough to brighten someone's life.

"You are still doing it". He said, compelling her gaze over at him and she obey, forgetting what her brain was saying a moment ago, "Am I troubling you?"

No. You are comforting me.

She shakes her head feeling as voicing her thoughts out was too much.

"Then you think you are troubling me?" He was good at reading people something he had to learn the hard way, and when she nodded all he wanted to do was confess how much her presence comforts him, "Don't bother your brain with it. If there is something you should know about me is that I do not do things I don't like. No one has that power over me". She furrow her brows at his words, as he clicks his tongue to his left cheek, "What I mean is that I am here because I want to".

Does he want to stay? Maybe he wants to read?

"Are you a student?"

"Do I look like one?"

She bites her lips, looking from his tight black jean to his black hoodie which looks so comfy. She shakes her thought away and watches the bruises on his face making her flinch.

"Do I look that bad?" He joked and honestly he was anxious

What if she is scared of him now? What if aftershock left her body and she realize that he was a monster? God, he would do anything to go back and not take that damn challenge if it meant he can meet her again.

"You are overthinking". She whispers very softly and he felt his heart do a flip

Shit!

He gazes at her, "I am. But I think I have good reasons. I can't say the same about someone like you".

She tilts her head to look at him better, and this has to be a record that she spoke to a male and looked at him for this long. That small tilt was framed in his mind forever because he finds it adorable. He is turning mushy now.

"You don't know what I hide".

"Want to do a challenge to know whose at worst?"

A frown ceases at her beautiful face and he wants to take a step and wipe it away with his fingers. Just the mere thought of his finger touching her skin sends his body and mind jittery.

"It's not a good thing". She said as she sighs, "Pain is not a good thing".

"Yet we continue to hold it so tightly to us".

His words hit her. Why was she holding onto her pain? The pain that has now become her past for the rest of her life. Why isn't she burying it?

"It is a part of me".

He shakes his head, as his lips tarts out wetting his dry lips, an action she follows.

"It was a part of you".

"No talking". The librarian yelled causing her to yelp and her heart to start beating in sheer panic

She hates loud voices. They always jolt her very soul. She can't stop the memories as they came crashing down at her. She breathes heavily trying to not burst into tears. She hates crying. She doesn't want to cry. She doesn't want to be weak.

"Look at me". His voice was commanding that she didn't even get to protest against him, instead, she follows and her tears filled eyes connected to his eyes, "You are ok. I promise. Look there is no one who can harm you".

She wipes a traitor tear, "What about you?"

"I will kill myself before I ever do such a horrible thing".

It was a bit dramatic that cause her to laugh. And he joins with the same low chuckle that raises goosebumps on her. She wonders what it will be like when he laughs freely? It must be an expensive sight to see. For someone like him and to imagine his carefree laughter sounds like a luxury she knows she can't enjoy.

He can't help the worry that settles in him after watching her panicking. It is like he wants to pull her with him to his home to keep her safe. But, he can't.

"Someone hurt you".

She smiles, sadly, "I am fine".

He didn't say anything. He didn't want to pressure her into giving names. He can go behind her back and find names too. But the second option, as much as it pleases his devil, he won't do it. It's like betraying her and not trusting her to speak for herself. Probably even putting her down and caging her voice. And as much as he was blessed to hear that soft sound he will die before he cages it.

She moves away to grab a book she needs as she still shakes a little from the encounter. She was almost embarrassed that he saw this side just shortly after they met. So, naturally, she also stopped looking into his eyes.

She had panic attacks when she was with Amir. She wouldn't call him a brother after watching how Tauheed does everything opposite of Amir. Tauheed is gentle, soft and caring even when she knows he never got affection and never learned how it goes, he does his very best to actually show his care to her. That she knows he has her under his wings as he promised.

But she had panic attacks with Amir and he always said she was overreacting and she was a lunatic. She cried and cried when she couldn't breathe and even her mother left her to deal with it because she was embarrassed. She doesn't even know how she managed to get herself together after those attacks. But she built an embarrassment in her. That she shouldn't show this to anyone, not even Tauheed&Sarah.

He watches her conceal herself away from him. He didn't like how she was avoiding him altogether. He can't help but think it is because of him. That he might have overstepped her boundaries. He tried his best not to. And he did his best to put her at ease. Did he lose her too?

"Um". She said, bouncing from feet to feet, looking at them, "W-Would you like to eat a sandwich?"

He looks at her confused, "Sandwich?"

"It's fine if you don't want to. I just thought you helped me so I should pay you back but I don't know how to do that--"

As much as he likes her rambling. This was not the one he likes.

He took a step closer, and she immediately steps back, shaking. He scared her. He could see that he did. He steps back, placing his hands behind him so she knows he has no way to harm her. He relaxes his shoulder and face so she can see that he didn't mean to do anything to her.

"Aima". He called and her eyes finally meet his eyes and he rejoice, "I will love to eat a sandwich if you want me to. But I will not eat if you think it's a payment and that you need to pay me for something. I did what I need to do and I did it because I want you safe. It is not something I need the payment for and absolutely not something you need to pay for".

"But, why me?"

He chuckles, "I will answer someday when I have a good one. I don't think my answer now stands facts that people like to see with a statement".

She nodded, hesitant, as she grabs the sandwich handing it to him. As he continues to watch his reaction, the small smile on his lips and his eyes connecting to her showing the appreciation put her heart to joy.

Amir never liked her food. Said it was disgusting and she was too. She knows she is. She can't be what most woman are. She is just empty and useless. Even Tauheed doesn't know the secrets she is still hiding. But she wonders if Tauheed will do the same when he knows?

She heard her phone ringing and her brother name flashing on it.

She smiles, "Ji, bhai?" (Yes, brother)

"Bhai ki jaan. Agar free ho toh mai a jaon?". (Brother's life. If you are free should I come to pick you?)

"I don't want to disturb-".

"I am outside already. And you are my sister that I love. You can never disturb me, Aima. Now come on out so we can go and eat something good. Don't tell my wife about that though".

She chuckles, agreeing to meet him in a minute.

She looks at Zubair who was looking at her attentively, "Thank you for today". He nodded, and she wanted to hear him, "Will you be here tomorrow?"

"Yes". He said and he looks around, not wanting her to leave just yet, "I will take you outside".

"You don't have to-".

He sighs, "If it is truly a burden for me do you think I will be doing this?"

"I-I-"

"You don't have to apologize. I understand that our trauma shapes the way we act and it is hard to stop it. Just know that I do what my heart wants and this is exactly what it craves. Now, let's go".

She smiles, nodding. She follows behind him as she found her brother car and then her eyes connected to him.

She watches the anger appearing in Tauheed eyes and her eyes widen. Does he know? Did he find out? He knows. He knows. He must know. Amir told him. Didn't he? He will punish her for hiding it.

As Tauheed stepped towards them she hides behind Zubair who seem just as murderous as Tauheed.

Before Tauheed can hit her he heard him say, "What are you doing with my sister?"

Zubair stilled, "Your sister?"

Tauheed holds his collar, "That girl behind you is my little sister. And I swear on everything I will kill you for being around her".

Shit!
